I have been a customer of Carnett’s, now Mr. Clean Car Wash, for more than ten years. I have always been relatively happy with your service until yesterday. Now, our six family cars will be going elsewhere.
I sent my 16 year old son there yesterday for an oil change. $25 or so. He came home with a receipt for $103. You had performed a $65 fuel injection service. I asked him what it was. He said I don’t know. I asked them for an oil change. Apparently, your manager at that location saw a young kid as an easy mark for a completely unnecessary service and decided to take advantage of him. Sawyer said the lady asked him if he wanted a fuel injection service at one point. But he didn’t know what it was and thought it was part of the oil change since that is what he asked for.
I spoke with the GM of the location where he went on Duluth Highway. The GM informed me that it is not only their right, but a requirement to try and up sell services to their customers. It’s how you make your money. Never mind that his car was running fine, that the dealers guidelines say nothing about a fuel injection service at 50k miles, that he didn’t need the service and didn’t ask for the service. It was their right and responsibility to up sell him. Those are your GM’s exact words. It’s your right and responsibility to up sell customers services whether they need them or not because that is how you make your money.
I was astounded at his utter stupidity and disappointed in in their company.
