Faulty work/cost/unreliable
04/13/10 called and had them come out and repair a water leak at the meter main line paid $354.56 Invoice # 160709 Technician # 348 no name.
07/14/10 7:33 pm discovered a water leak at the water meter the same place that was repaired on 04/13/10 and called them to come out to fix it. I reached the call center and spoke with John and said that Richard Norwood was on call and he would be calling me. 7:42 pm Richard called me and said he is on the way. 8:54 He arrived to assess the situation and came up with the leak was at the same joint previously repaired. He called his supervisor and got authorization to do the repair as a curtsy with no charge. He was unable to fix the problem due to not having the right materials on his truck. He said he would have to come back in the morning first thing. He left at approximately 9:40 pm.
07/15/10 8:50 am Richard Norwood 336-9752 called me and said he would be coming back out to complete the repair. He recommended putting a pressure regulator valve on and I agreed. . I got home at 12:05 and he pulled in behind me. I was billed again on invoice # 161073 07/14/10 for $412.85 billed to my M/C.
07/19/10 approximately 10:30 Richard came out to check the pressure at the hose bib and found it to be at a maximum of 60 pounds and that was the best he could do. 3:10 Keith from Mr Rooter called me to follow up on the service I received from Richard Norwood and I gave him a low down on what happened. He is supposed to call me back after researching it with Richard. I told Keith that to put a shout off valve in-front of the sprinkler system for a fee of $204.00 is quite expensive when the valve I could have purchased at Home Depot for $1.50 and he had to cut the line at the sprinkler system to do the repair anyway. 3:30 Kieth Cortes 336-8274 called me back and said that Richard gave me member pricing on the work he did and they did the water leak repair as a courtesy. He said if I did not like the pressure I have he would have Richard come back out and do a replacement of the valve at no charge.
08/24/10 9:45 am called Keith got voice mail (vm) left message on answering machine (lma). 10:45 he caled me back and set apt for Richard Norwood to come out on 08/26/10 between 9 - 10 am.
05/16/11 12:04 pm went to check the mail and discouvered a water leak at the meater. Immediately checked it and the meter was running. I turned the water off on the city side because I was unable to turn it off with the cut off valve Mr Rooter installed on their last repair. It appears that the leak is where Mr Rooter performed the last repair at the meter on my side between the cut off valve and pressure regulator. This repair is less than a year ago and proves incopentance of Mr Rooter licensenced plumber.
05/18/11 2:32 pm called Mr Bitner to follow up to see if he got my email. got his vm lma.
05/20/11 10:19 called to speak with Mr Bitner to see if he got my email and he was not in and I spoke with Ben. I asked him to call Mr Bitner on his cell phone and have him call me and he said he would.
05/23/11 9:43 am called to speak with Mr Bitner and he was not in and I spoke with Ben. He said Mr Bitner would be in the office in about an hour and he would give my information to Mr Bitner when he comes in. Ben has pulled up my email and will provide it to Mr Bintner.

Septic Service
We were having issues with our plumbing. Quoted $200 to pump out tank. We were later told that the real problem was something different, to the tune of an additional $800. That all done, asked to flush the toilet, nothing. WON'T FLUSH. Now remember, this is the reason we called them out here. They pretty much shrugged handed us our bill for what they had done that apparently wasn't our problem and left. No offer to find the problem, no suggestion other than to rent a snake. Now we are stuck with a $1000 bill that we can't even flush : Terrible service wouldn't recommend to even my worst enemy.

Price Gouging
During the recent hard freeze we had a pipe break in our attic. Plumber showed up and since it was still below freezing the water was frozen at the water meter at the street. I accompanied the plumber and assisted by loaning tools, holding pliers etc. in the cold. He found the leak and replaced a piece of plastic pipe about 12 inches long. Total for his time was $723 including $330.00 for thawing out the pipe even though I helped him do it. The most expensive piece of plastic I've ever seen. I expected a couple hundred dollars but $723 was nothing short of price gouging during a difficult time.

Failure to Dispatch
Called early in the morning due to a clogged main drain and was told they would call me when a truck was available. At 12:42 they called and said a Truck would be out within the hour. Since I wasn't at home, I dropped what I was doing and headed home to meet them.
At 2:15 I called to see where they were or when they would be at my home. Was told there was no truck dispatched and it might be tomorrow before they could get to me. The guy said some other dispatcher may have called as there were 12 dispatch offices all using the same phone number.
When I asked why I was called and told someone would be out, he said he had no idea but that there was no dispatch to me. I suggested that they need a NEW COMPUTER system if they couldn't keep any better track of the trucks and customers than what they are saying. After wasting nearly an entire day, I called another company which is known for actually showing up! They did! Price was even less than what Mr Rooter charges even with the coupons etc. Bad customer service and bad business when you can't even keep track of your phone calls to customers!

scheduling/extended service plan
I wish I would have found this site sooner- we were so ripped off by Mr. Rooter. we paid extra for an extended service plan which gave us priority scheduling and discounts on service.
I called and scheduled for a plumber to come at 5 PM. on Friday. (The person who answered said because of our extended plan we got priority scheduling...)
At 7:30 PM they called and said they'd have to come Saturday morn- I asked for the first appointment- they said fine and scheduled me for 9 AM. At 10:15 AM I called when no plumber has shown up yet- They said the technician was still on his first visit at 8 AM- (!?) still no-one showed up- 11:15 AM I cancelled.
PLEASE LEARN FROM MY MISTAKE!!!
-ALSO- Reed's Sewer and Drain came to the rescue- did a great job- (FOR 1/2 the price of Mr. Rooter with the supposed Discount!!!)
MR.ROOTER IS A RIP-OFF!!!

Bad service
Mr. Rooter refused to provide an idea of pricing to come out to my house, "we don't provide pricing over the phone".
When I rec'd the bill it was $300 to snake a drain -- they were at the house for less than an hour. I called and asked for an explanation of the bill and was told my card would not be charged until I heard back from a Manager. My card was charged before I rec'd a call from the Manager. When I called to ask for an explanation, I was again given the run around. I will be disputing the charge on my credit card.

Frozen Pipes On a Mobile Home
On January 4th I came home to a complete freeze up of my sewage drain system. After waiting all day long, a plumber from MR ROOTER finally arrived and quoted me $294 an hour to blow hot air on my drain pipes beneath my trailer. After about an hour and a half, the guy realized that he needed a better running machine and was gone for about an hour or so.When he returned, he unfroze the pipes after about 45 minutes and charged me $553.79 for TWO HOURS of time.It bothered me, but I said nothing and wrote the check.Now...on JANUARY 31st my ENTIRE SEWAGE DARIN SYSTEM is clogged up AGAIN.I guess that being the desperate sucker that I am, I will call them again and after I am done paying THAT, I am selling my place and getting the hell out of here before I go bankrupt.

Unethical Business Practices & Shady Employees
I called Mr Rooter when the main waste line of my home became clogged. The clean out is in my backyard and stretches 100 to 130 feet. I was told by the call center that the earliest a Plumber could get to my home would be that evening. Everyone else I called couldn’t get there until the next day. A red flag should have gone up when I asked for their pricing information, and the representative said she didn't have that information to give.
The Plumber, Rob, finally showed up 30 minutes late, in a couple hours it would be dark. He gave me an estimate of $350 to unclog it. Mr Rooters bills by the job, most other Plumbers bill by the hour. Other companies were quoting–over the phone–$150 to $175 hour. So I gave Rob the okay, at this point it was becoming an emergency. And for all I knew it could taken him 3 hours. I was reassured by Mr Rooters policy, if Mr Rooter can't unclog the line, the customer doesn't pay.
He attempted to snake it, or acted like he was snaking it–I’m still unsure. Either way, he did unclog the main waste line. Then he put the camera in to show me the subject of the clog, tree roots. Up until this point he hadn’t removed any roots or other debris out of the main clean out. He told me that he couldn't get the roots with the snake, and suggested having the line Jetted. (Jetting is basically a long hose with a pressure washer type tip that gets its water and pressure from a truck.) In summary, Rob lead me to believe that Jetting will remove all the roots and any other debris that was in the line, starting at the main clean out pushing it all to the cities sewer. And with yearly maintenance, I wouldn’t have this problem again. It sounded great to me, and would have been if it worked. My bill was already $320 for the snake & camera, the Jetting was going to be another $600. After asking Rob some questions and serious contemplation on my part, I gave him the okay. I thought if it works like he says, I should do it now, it probably needs done, and will cost more later. As soon as I gave him the okay, his eyes got big. He got excited, and began to talk to me about how much overtime he was going to get on this check. At the time I thought this was a little strange, but didn’t think anything else about it until I spoke to the Manager at Mr Rooter, Steve. While waiting on the jetting truck to arrive, Rob was working the snake and camera a bit more in the waste line. Again, I didn’t think to much of it until the next day when I saw a bunch of roots next to my clean out. After 45 minutes of jetting, It’s now completely dark outside. He stuck the camera back in, and stopped it where the initial clog was, the roots were gone. And this is when he told me that there was a brake in the line. On the monitor I could see what appeared to be a small pile of dirt sitting on the bottom of the waste line. Apparently he removed the roots prior to jetting. These were the roots sitting next to my clean out, which means he was aware of the brake and debris prior to jetting. He shouldn’t have started the jetting, because at this point, the jetting service couldn’t solve my problem. Complete dishonesty.
I had no problem paying the initial $320, but was reluctant to pay for the jetting since it wasn’t needed and didn’t do what I was lead to believe it would do. Which was clean out the waste line removing it of roots and debris. I was lead to believe by Rob that if the jetting service didn’t work, I didn’t pay, just like Mr Rooters policy for the initial clog. It doesn’t work, you don’t pay. I expressed all this to Rob, telling him I’d pay the $320 now and talk to the owner the next day about the $600 for the jetting. He kept repeating that he has to collect on the full amount that night. I’m very reluctant at this point, but was reassured that the owner, Lynn, was a good guy, and would make things right. I’ve never been in this situation before, I had obvious reservations about paying the full balance. Though I was worried that If I didn’t pay, the balance would be sent to collections, hurting my credit. (I’m still unsure of how to handle this situation if it comes up again in the future.) So I paid the bill on my Discover card, hoping that it would give me a little more leverage if I had to dispute the charges. I waited outside with him as he called in my credit card to his office. The receptionist put him on hold for 10 to 15 minutes. During that time Rob kept complaining about about her, the new night receptionist, and how she should be fired. He finally gave her my card information. To finalize the transaction I was given what I thought was a receipt to sign. After looking at it more thoroughly the next day, it was a service agreement. I was handed this paper to sign outside in dark, Rob didn’t tell me what I was signing. This is how this company operates. Very shady. I’m still not sure how to interpret this parting comment that came out of Robs mouth. He says to me “My wife use to be married to a (My last name)”. So was he taking advantage of me because of my last name. Was he thinking that he was pulling one over on his wifes ex-husbands family member?
After several phone conversations with the Manager at Mr Rooter, Steve, I was told that Lynn didn’t want to reimburse me any of the $600. The next couple attempts to contact Steve was unsuccessful. I was given the typical blow off excuses by the receptionist. I finally got his attention when the receptionist asked If I would like to leave a message. I really didn’t want to leave a message, but I obviously wasn’t being taken serious. The message was this. I don’t like handling this situation in this manor, I wanted to tell you this, not leave a message for you. Either I receive a full credit for the jetting service ($600) or I’m writing letters to the Federal Trade Commission, Better Business Bureau, and any plumbing organization that is relevant to Mr Rooter. I’ll also write reviews on all online Plumbing review sites. And if that doesn’t get the companies attention, I’ll file a civil suit against Mr Rooter. She said she’ll give him the message. Coincidentally he must have just stepped back in the office because he called me less than 5 minutes after the receptionist and I ended our call. After another heated conversation, Steve told me all he can do is reimburse me $280 dollars. After a couple more non-progressing conversation, I decided to except a partial refund now, and follow through with my letters and reviews like promised. Lynn the owner of the Mr Rooter franchise in North Olmsted, Ohio still owes me a $320 credit for a service that his employee suggested for a service that was not needed, could not solve my problem, should not have been suggested.
Mr Rooter prays on uninformed customers. Mr Rooter does not explain their policies. Mr Rooter does not give documentation of its services. Mr Rooter practices unethical sales techniques. Mr Rooter is not a company of integrity. And I’m left to believe that as long as Lynn is making a profit, he’s completely okay with operating his business with criminal standards.

Poor Customer Service - NO communication!
Oct 20, 2008 my sewer line was infiltrated with about 6 ft of roots from my tree (now mind you, I bought my house in Oct '06.) I paid $9100 to have MR. ROOTER (pieces of Sh%#) come out, put approx 30 ft of liner in, and they "fixed it" with a warranty. (Long story short...)
Oct 20, 2009... "Happy 1 Year Anniversary!" Guess what... Roots are back @ 20 ft, sewer needs to be re-lined again. They came out, told me it was under warranty (duh), and said someone would get back to me Friday... that was 2 days ago. I just called again and left a message for Scott the mgr to contact me. The last time I called, Wed, I was told that someone would contact me soon. What the hell is "soon" to them? I'm trying to be patient, however it's wearing thin. (702-457-5191, feel free to call them.) And they also told me taking out the tree wouldn't have made a diff.
CURRENT:
This is a now "warranty fix." It began on October 19, 2009@ about 7:30pm... still not fixed. I finally got a call from Scot and spoke w/ him in Vegas on this past Friday and has was very rude and curt. This was all AFTER calling Anthony, in Los Angeles (above Scott.) I had asked Scott, since I have had to take time out of MY day, MY family and My work to make all these calls and to get someone to contact... can someone compensate me, after all, it's been going on for a year (off n' on...) & $9100 (paid October 2008.)
* Scott's reply was: "I'm NOT going to pay YOU to fix YOUR problem."
What a great representative of the company... NOT!
