Furniture Package purched from MRI
My husband and I bought a furniture package for our apartment in Sal, Cape Verde from MRI back in September 2008. Also friends of ours have had the misfortune to do the same. They hounded us with phone calls advising us to buy from them and not from Tecnicil who are the developers of the apartment we bought. Now it seems Tecnicil will not allow us to join their rental programme because we have not bought from them. But apart from that we are not very hopeful of ever getting this furniture package which by the way cost us around 20, 000 euros. We have emailed and phoned an infinate number of times to try and find out when we will be in possession of our package. They say that as only a few clients have completed on their apartments it would not be viable to ship the packages over to Sal until they have at least 25%. We would love to hear from anyone who has also had the misfortune to get involved with this 'company'!!!

Furniture Pack & loss of 50% deposit on Bansko apartment
We were given a hard sell into purchasing a furniture package in Dec 2006 for an apartment in Bansko which we have not been able to complete on due to the mortgages being stopped in Bulgaria during this recession, hence we have not been able to get back the 50% deposit paid for Three Mountains apartments but also MRI have not given us a refund and we have even sourced storage for this furniture pack, but MRI dont reply to emails or our constant phone calls.

Has anyone taken this via a legal route as we would like to get a solicitor involved to try and get our money back.

Silver Mountain
We purchased a studio appartment in 2007 and paid 50% deposit in total. After being promissed guaranteed finance, we have been told that it is not available and we have to find the money. After a meeting in Leeds 11 days ago, we have been told we can either pay the remainder in full, pay half and then half over three years, or the bank will take our property and MRI will sue us for a further £7, 000 euros. What we want to know is MRI DO NOT have a signed contract from us. We have to proof of payment of our money through HIFX but do not know what todo from here. How do we stand legally?

property
My name is hayley and have signed up and paid for a studio in Romania City Residence. We were contacted on Tuesday Advising us to meet up with the managing director in Cardiff on Thursday (yesturday) we went and were informed that it would not be in our best interest to buy in Romania. They wanted us to terminate our agreement and said that if we wanted to carry on with the development then they would build but the property would not be viable. They will not give us our money back (E, 40, 000) and have offered us another property in Bulgaria called Aspen Suites, but if we want this we ahve to pay a further 6, 000 euro's to hold the property. I have read really bad things about them and don't trust them. Are you aware of anyone else being in this siuation, any advice please. [email protected]

overseas property
We purchased in cape verde on Sal 2008.In May 2009 were told to attend a meeting .To be told we had lost our money .Sum total of 43, 000 euro. The MRI then suggested that we could roll the moneyover onto another property in Bulgaria meaning they would discount the Bulgarian property by 43, 000 euros. informing us that there was only 4 one bedroomed apartments left and would be gone by the end of the day.iWhich at the time seemed like a good idea to save losing the money paying a resevation fee of 6, 000 euros. We returned
home after doing research and talking to a solictor realized we had made a mistake and been conned by the MRI as we are still in a contract with the Cape verde builder and should not have been pressurised into doing this.We asked the MRI for our reservation fee back but they have refused

Italy - Sunset Tropea Phase II
Went on an inspection trip in August 2007, saw the plot for a 1 bed apartment (Sunset Tropea Phase II - Italy), I paid about 40k Euro for the deposit. Last week finally got the call to say no work has started (is supposed to be completed in July 2009). I couldn't make the meeting which was on Saturday 13 June and have heard nothing since and today came across this site which has now got me really worried! I had an insurance policy for the deposit which I thought I would get back as they work hasn't started and will not be complete, but my Italian lawyer has told me that 'the system of Bank guarantee of security bond does not exist in Italy' and the insurance on covers me if the developer goes bankrupt and the deposit was paid to the develop back in May 2008. Has any else had issues in Italy with MRI?

Any and all help appreciated.

Scammed by MRI
Hi.

MRI did a hard-sell on us to purchase 2 properties in Bella Vista in Morocco in 2007. The properties were scheduled to complete in January 2010. MRI claimed that the Developer was reputable. They supplied the socilitors.

Over the last 1.5 years, they went silent on us. Last weekend (14th June), they invited us the Hilton Hotel at the NEC in Birmingham, ostensibly to inform us that the developer had "disappered" with our money, and we had lost £63, 000!

They were not at all sorry for misleading us into buying the property. Instead, the director (Darren Brown) tried to con us into buying more properties from MRI.

He claimed that MRI's chairman was sorry for our loss and and would give us properties from his personal portfolio at cost price, so that some of our losses could be re-couped.

In fact, the Chairman's properties he started pushing us into buying (the usual tactic of "its the last one so you will have to put a deposit on it today") were actually hugely over-priced.

So MRI dragged us 90 miles to use the losses they caused us to have, to con us into buying overpriced properties again!

Be warned. Don't trade with MRI. They are a bunch of nasties who would do anything to get your money.

If there are people who have lost money in Morocco with MRI (particularly in Bella Vista), please get in touch.

Please let me know of any support groups who have lost money with MRI.
