Sir,
It is to inform you that my car Maruti 800 had developed starting problem so I took it for repair at M/s Competent Automobiles Co. Limited, Mehrauli, New Delhi on 04.10.2009. Old Ignition coil was replaced with the new one and after attending all the so called problems I was handed over the car on 07.10.2009. It was advised to change battery by the dealer. My job card No. was JC09015766 dated 04.10.2009 and Invoice no. BR09015317. The total bill raised for the repair was Rs. 11753/- (Rupee Eleven thousand seven hundred fifty three s).
The problem persisted and I changed the battery on 03.01.2010.My car could not be started again on 12.01.2010. 24 Hours Maruti on road service was called and the car was started with spare battery and taken to Mehrauli Workshop. The job card No. JC09024226 was prepared and I was asked to change alternator and battery. On telling them that battery was new they now wanted to change the alternator. This advice of changing alternator is mentioned in their job card no. JC09024226.
First I was asked to change the battery. On doing so now I was asked to change the alternator altogether. Due to their conflicting statements I had lost faith in them and wanted to have second opinion before repair. To my utter surprise I was told that there was problem with the wire connected to the alternator and not with the alternator. The job was done with just Rs 100/- and till now I am not having any problem and car is running trouble free.
The above incident clearly indicates that M/s Competent Automobiles Co. Limited, Mehrauli do not carry out actual fault finding exercise but their Endeavour and sole intention is how to inflate the bill and extract money from the customers. On their advice I changed the battery which I now understand that it was not at all necessary. I feel that the approach is to extract as much as from the customers.
I have been using Maruti since long and in fact I am a loyal customer of Maruti but I am afraid the practice adopted by the dealers/service centers of Maruti is totally unethical, unwarranted, unbusinesslike, illegal and unlawful. Maruti being a company of repute can insure that such incident are not repeated and customer get service worth their money.
Accordingly I request that strong and effective action be taken against Competent and I be refunded the amount of Rs 3400/- which I had to incur on unnecessarily buying the battery.
