I was on 3rd avenue, between 33rd and 34th street, today, May 5th, 2010 at about 3:35, waiting for the light. A bus was double parked on the right, waiting for another bus to pull away. I was on the left of this waiting bus. At the turn of the light, instead of waiting for the bus in front to move, this bus#8539 or 8534, moved out of its spot, leaving me with no room to move. As it pulled out and away, it struck my car on the right and continued driving.
My car has been damaged. As of now, it is at the repair shop and I have a rental. I am not only VERY UPSET AT THE CALLOUS MANNER OF DRIVING BY A PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION, BUT ALSO THE FACT THAT THE DRIVER CONTINUED TO DRIVE AWAY, AFTER HITTING MY CAR.
As a responsible citizen of this city, a teacher who sets high standards on herself, as well as the students, I am, needless to say, very disappointed. This is an added on expense for me, that rightfully, should be paid by the MTA.
As for the driver, he/she needs a REFRESHER COURSE on how to drive on the streets of Manhattan.
