Purchased an MTD riding lawn mower at Home Depot. Found out MTD manufactures most brands found in big box stores including Cub Cadet.
This mower was trouble from the beginning. It immediately started requiring fresh belts. This was a 46" machine, so, belt replacement was somewhat more complicated. The second summer after purchase, the mower required the replacement of a rotor assembly, blades, all the belts. It started mowing uneven. Belts had to be replaced again and again over the summer. Finally, by August, the PTO Cable blew out.
Finding parts for the MTD is not easy. Home Depot doesn't support the equipment, and smaller mower shops don't always carry belts. Everything must be ordered online and delivered by UPS. Finding the right part numbers can be difficult--for example, try finding the part number for the pto cable. I found the number finally through a parts dealer in Mississippi.
Finally, it's a new season, and the PTO cable is installed. Now the mower can't handle high spring grass. It used to be able to do it, but no more. Didn't know equipment like this got fatigue.
Servicing this machine is difficult, getting parts isn't easy. The dealer--Home Depot--is of now help and has conspicuously dropped the brand and substituted an identical machine under a different label (Cub Cadet).
I wouldn't recommend buying this machine. I can't suggest a better one, but still, can't recommend this.
