Bad attidue, poor response and not connecting me to the network
My Contract was approved in April but only received the phone in June after following it up more than 8 times. When I collected the phone I was told its going to be connected within 24 hrs but was never connected dispite the fact that i went to the only shop they told me to use more than 6 times to get connected & calling the call centre from my phone which is not free cause i wasnt connected. On 05 1109 I received a call 4rm their debt collector (Direct Channel Credit Management) telling me that my account was handed over to them due to my failure to pay dispite the fact that my contract clearly states that they must debit my bank account (that was given to them through my bank statement) on the last day of the month. I told them(DCCM) I'll talk to them after talking to MTN. I called MTN I spoke to a guy in legal department who was very RUDE to me and did not want 2 listen 2 me and told me i was connected long ago i must call the billing department, who refered me back to Legal I spoke 2 a very rude GUGU there who told me the same as her collegue. I went to MTN Cresta & told me that I'm not connected.

MTN's repair service does more damage
I sent my phone in for repairs as only the screen did not want to switch on. they don't offer any loan-phones as they apparently have none available (which always seems to be the case when i hand a phone in). A week later i get a call to go pick it up, i arrive there only to discover that the phone they hand me has had all it's major parts replaced (Keypad, buttons, cover, screen, etc) except that the 'new' screen has two very visible chips in it. i booked my phone back in for fixing of the screen which is now chipped. A week later i go pick it up and discover that they haven't done anything to the phone at all. so basically i had been waiting for a week for them to just transport my phone from one branch to the next and back again. The screen still has it's two chips and when asked why it wasn't repaired, i was told that they recieved the phone like that. How is that possible if the only original external part on that phone is the battery cover.

I was told that I am stupid
I recently bought my second cellphone and i wanted MTN to send me internet settings.. I called the call center the first week after the purchase and they promise to send them to me via sms and i did not receive them. I called in the second week, still the same promise and nothing happened. I called them again in the third week and i insisted that the settings should be done manually since i have waited for more than 3weeks. The consultant who assisted me, blocked my internet settings, i only found out that they were blocked when i called in again and the cosultant who assisted me told me that they have been blocked... She tried to assist me but for some reasons she also couldnt.. I called in again and i spoke to a guy who was so rude to me, he told me to shut up because i am stupid and i dont know anything. what the hell does he know if the entire mtn team cannot assist me. he is there for a reason and that is to render a service. I am so disapponted with their service. If their calls are recorded, as they say... can they please check a call that was made to them on the 2nd November 2009 at 17h35, call was made from 083 372 7730 begin_of_the_skype_highlighting 083 372 7730 end_of_the_skype_highlighting and the settings was for 073 012 5195 begin_of_the_skype_highlighting 073 012 5195 end_of_the_skype_highlighting.

Inability to do his job, lying to customers
So, we went to the MTN Store in Woodmead Retail Park on the 31st October 2009. At the store, we spoke to Eric Dubula and advised him that we wanted to take our a new contract with the Nokia N97.Dubula said to us that he does not have stock at the moment but he said we would definitely qualify for a contract. when we inquired as to why he didnt want to take our documents or fill out an application form, he advised that he was absolutely certain(big smile on his face) that we would qualify. We said to him, just put our details in on the system and tell us first.After about 10-15 minutes he eventually took our documents and entered details on the system.He then smiled once more and said, 'now u'll see, it is approved'. He waited a few seconds, showed us the screen and said, u see, it shows that it will be approved. So he said to us he would order the phone and we should come back on Monday to pick up the phone. When we arrived on Monday, he said the the phone had not come yet. when we went back tuesday, he said the store was closing for renovations and we would have to get the phone elsewhere.still advised contract approved.went to MTN fourways, filled out a form, contract declined.

Call center do not know their jobs
My problem started last month I forgot to transfer money for my debit order, made a payment on the 1st October 2009, it took 3 weeks to pick up payment after numerous e-mails, calls and faxes. Had to cancel debit order want to charge me double. For the past four days I am struggling to get an account from these guys. I have been swearing talking nicely wanted to speak to a supervisor with no luck. They also indicated that I must pay know for 2 months which I never did. Then they told me itemised billing was taking off my account, who gave permission for that. For the last 6 months I received my accounts via e-mail and know it stopped. What the hell is going on I must pay my account without an account ridiculous . I received an e-mail today but o my word what a mess. Is there someone with brains that can actually help me to solve my problem. If my phone is blocked because I have not paid I will take this up with ever news paper if I have to.

I have never had to deal with someone so rude in my life before
I phoned 0867 277 538 begin_of_the_skype_highlighting 0867 277 538 end_of_the_skype_highlighting to enter a competition to stand a chance to win a cadbury hamper. The lady answering the phone keeps on putting the phone down in my ear for no reason. After phoning back 3 times i asked her for the complaints number, she told me that if i want to complain i can do it with her.. I then asked if i can speak with a sup or manager and she told me that i can only speak with her and then dropped the phone again!!! I called back again to ask what division of MTN this is because i noticed that when she answers the phone she will qoute 'MTN and her name', she then dropped the phone on me again. I phoned again and she did not answer the phone. After trying to get through a few times she picked up the phone again and asked me :' what do you want because there are lots of people on the line'??? If there were lots of people on the line how can she ' the only person working there' pick up the phone everytime i dial the number???? She also refused to spell her name and to give me her surname.

I have never had to deal with someone so rude in my life before. All this just to enter a competition??!! I really don't know how Cadbury can work together with MTN.

Refund not issued after 6 months
I ported to another cellular network in May 2009 but MTN continued to deduct money from my bank account. I have been into the MTN branch at Canal Walk at least twice and have been embroiled in email correspondence since July 3, 2009. At least 5 representatives have promised me a refund, but this has yet to appear in my bank account. Every time a new representative answers my email, they ask for the same information that has been given to the previous rep. This has been going on for 6 months!!!

Still being billed for a canceled contract
I canceled my MTN cellphone account on September 7th, but MTN is still billing me every month. I've tried calling the MTN call centre on 083-1-808 but the recorded message tells me that my number does not exist with MTN. Not surprising since I cancelled the contract!

There does not appear to be any way for an ex-MTN customer to call MTN to resolve an issue of this nature.

Renewing of contract without my knowledge
After advising MTN to cancel my contract which expired at the end of August 2009. They went on renewing it and now I must carry the cost of them not doing they're work They have not supplied me with a letter informing me that the contract will be renewed and it was said that I will be billed every month if I don't cancel, now it is costing me R405.00 to cancel this contract which I was not told about.I do not have a phone or any of the sort They don't have the decency to phone or write a letter telling me that I can renew or upgrade If this matter will not be attended to I will report this to ICASA.

MTN ignores my account inquiry
On Friday the 30th of October I noticed on my bank statement that my cellphone bill is almost double what it normally is. As I did not receive my statement via email as I normally do, I had no way to check what was going on. I called customer service 808 and requested a copy statement emailed to me which I did not receive to date. I have been unable to get hold of them ever since. I spent who knows how many minutes holding on, but they are simply not answering the phone. This has been the case till yesterday afternoon 17:00 after which I gave up.

On Saturday I requested an itemised bill from mtnactive which I'm also still waiting for. I also logged two queries on mtnactive which still has not been attended to. The MTN outlet in Welkom has also been unable to assist as the system is apparently 'offline'.

I have been a loyal MTN customer for the past 6 years, but with this level of service or rather the complete lack thereof I will stop being loyal and change to a different provider. Someone who actually cares about their customers.

I challenge MTN to prove to me why I should remain loyal to them.
