Complaint description hi;
my name is cliffy naidoo i have a mtn simcard that i use for the sole purpose of data usage.i had approximately R300-00 in airtime on this card in October 2009.i didnt use the card for a month and when itried reusing it it wasnt working anymore.
i contacted mtn and they told me because i hadn't made a chargeable call for 3 months the card has been cutoff from the network.i told them i was using the card for data which is chargeable and upon investigation was proven right so my card was re-instated.i was told my airtime would be credited to my account but it hasnt and upon complaining i was told that there was no airtime so i cant be refunded.
everytime i call mtn im given different excuses.
please can you help me get back what belongs to me.

When phoning switchboard, nobody answers
When phoning switchboard, NOBODY answers!!! When you call the call centre and ask to be put through to the billing department, they can not put you through. How is that for level of competence...?

Breach of contract
I resigned in june 2008 from my former work. I had to take over my Cellphone contract. From then up to now I'm battling to get my Mtn phone invoice from Mtn as I'm paying for and Itemised billing. They send it still to my old work adress. Every month i complain about it and confirm my postal adress are correct and still my invoice don't come to my postal address but go to my my former work address. As i didn't receive my invoice i saw it that it is breach of contract from there side. But they want to let me pay if I end the contract.

New contract approval takes 3-4 days, 5th dy, none
Applied for a new contract with MTN on Sunday, 25th October and was told that approval will take between 3-4 days. Called on the 4th day and was promised a call back which did not happen (3 times). Attempted to call the customer service (0831808), could not even get through when I eventually did manage to get hold of someone they refused to lodge my complaint as I was not loaded on the system. Do I really want to do business with MTN if the initial sale is this torturous? Today is the 5th day and I will not be holding my breath! I guess I will be approaching another service provider and hope for better service! My cell number was listed merely as a contact, it has nothing to do with this complaint.

MTN has no clue what service is
Logged into MTN Active, clicked on Activate a Value Added Service then get a message 'Your Account was on a Collection Plan within the last 3 months. Please consult your MTN representative or phone 808.' My account is on debit order. I have never missed a payment. Phoned 808 four times and nothing was done. Try to log a query on MTN ACTIVE site, I get the message 'Query Submission Report The query cannot be created. Please contact the MTN Active Call Centre on 1761.' Phone 1761 and the lady takes al my details and tells me she cant help me, she will put me through to the right department. Puts me through to accounts. I said to the lady that she will probably not be able to help me as it is regarding MTN ACTIVE. She takes my details etc and yet again she tells me she cant help me...she does not even have a clue whom I need to speak to.

MTN IS THIS HOW YOU DO BUSINESS. I WOULD SUGGEST YOU CLOSE YOUR DOORS AS YOU HAVE NO CLUE!!!

I haven't heard a word to anyone of them, since the problem was escalated
It is so sad to deal with the company like this, still today I havent heard a word to anyone of them, since the problem was escalated, yesterday I spoke to Kyle ref:54393759, still no response, with due respect I will definately like to cancel my cantract with them, as no one is able to give me the straight answer what really happen to my minutes and sms as they were suppose to be credited to my account, Sat the supervisor told me a different balance from what Jude told me, yesterday Kyle is also coimg with a different balance...so I need someone to clarify for me what is going on with my account then cancel the contract, any one out there who needs a free and professional service stay away from MTN...

They allowed a criminal to use my identity
Phoning MTM to report the account I received was incorrect because I do not have a cell phone contract with them, resulted in me being told I should phone from the phone concerned (which a criminal has). Using a copy of my ID and a payslip stolen with a batch of teachers' documentation from the provincial offices; this criminal got a debit order and raked up R6000 worth of phone calls. I am MRS SANDRA GERBER but MTN did so little checking that they allowed an AFRICAN MALE TO CLAIM TO BE MRS SANDRA GERBER! Their call centre lady was unwilling to assist and assured me she would get the fraud division to contact me WHICH DID NOT HAPPEN!

MTN has not honored their part of the contract
I upgraded my contract with mtn and they havnt loaded my bundles for the second month now.is that not a breach of the contract can i cancel my contract on this basis. mtn has over the past 6 months become terrible to deal with i used to brag to my freinds who were with other networks about the great service i get from mtn. i cannot understand how such a huge company can take take such a nose dive with regards service to CUSTOMERS IN SOUTH AFRICA. are we not important to them or are they more interested in the customers OVERSEAS. seems like they have forgotten their roots. it is really sad to see such a wonderful company with such potential loose it, you can judge by the amount of people writing about them here. what about the ones who cant or dont know about this website.i am appealing once again for someone to call me from mtn so i can sort my problem out.

MTN is not resolving my problem
I have a contract with MTN and I receive R75 data bunles on my modem every month on the 20th. The bundles came through on my modem on the 20th and I spent about 10 minutes going though my e-mails the same day. I tried logging on again on the 21st, only to discover that the bundles were finished. I phoned the call centre and spoke to Melissah who gave ref # 51166543 and promised that someone from the technical team will contact me soon, but to this date nobody ever got back to me.

After numerous phone calls and visits to the store we were told the application was delayed because of system problems
Last week Wednesday we applied for a company contract with MTN. After numerous phone calls and visits to the store we were told the application was delayed because of system problems. The application came back yesterday as incomplete as according to MTN our company has a judgement against it. Strange thing is that no-one at MTN is able to tell me who has a judgement against us so that we can sort the contract out! We have done our own credit check on our company and according to the records there is in fact no judgement against us!!! All we want is a straight answer from MTN so that this can be sorted out but trying to get someone to contact us with the information is proving fruitless!!!
