Unacceptable service (non existing)
On 29 April I wrote an email to request that I would like to cancel my 2 year contract from the end of April 2011. I received no response. 24 April 2011 I sent another email. I ent another email 6 June 2011. I did receive an automated email on that email stating that they received my email. Then another period of silence. I decided to complain on the Hello Peter website, and got a response from MTN stating that someone from Cancellations will contact me. The was a week and a half ago. How long should I still wait. I am so sick and tired of MTN's non-existing service.

Poor customer service
One of our consultant lost his ellphone begiinning of April 2011 in JHB. We used to costmer line 808 to stop the cellphone no . To our horror we saw duringt the end of April billing that more than R15000 was due on this phone. I phoned MTn, spoke to a consultant, and he claimed that the simcard was not stopped. He said he have done so now. During May billing another R3000 was added to this acount.

My services was disconnected due to the arreear amount accumulated by this stolen cell phone. I made an arrangement paid R4000, was re-connected, pending investigation, only to be disconnected totally on all my line a couple of days later. I phoned MTn, and after two days, I finally spoke to a supervisor, who restored my receiving of calls, and escalated an urgent request to the credit department, a Mr. Bob Sinclair to urgently phone me. Numerous calls and 4 days later, this has still not happened.

pparently there does not exist a way for me to contact the credit department directly. In the mean time my business is in serious jeopardy due to our inability to get this issue solved.

They hand my name over to debt collectors
I bought cell phone contract at MTN Rusteburg on 2008 and i gave the access to debit monthly instalment for the period of 24 months, all of a sudden they stopped debitting theire money on my account. I asked them several time why you stopped deducting the money. Now they took my name to the debt collectors without teelling me that my account is left behind. please assist and I want to speak to theire manager or CEO of this company.

Unhappy client
On the 13thof April 2011 I gave my BB in for repairs at the MTN store in cape gate.It was only the cover that was damaged, that needed to be replaced as I have guarantee on my software.After I waited almost 3weeks I haven’t heard anything of them and went there myself, they told me that they quote me R1961 to fix the phone!After another2weeks they still didn’t had my phone back after I had to go to them again because they don’t call me or notify me of anything.They said that the repairs company is waiting for a part to fix the phone, so the lady at the shop gave me a number to phone to follow it up!The next day I phoned them and they said that they still have the phone.I got another quote at berryfix where they quoted me R336.Now, I was very upset and I phoned them again, the guy I was talking to said they don’t do repairs they only give refurbished phones.I was furious when I heard that and requested my phone to be send back right away, he said it would take3-4working days. After4working days I went to theMTNstore in cape gate(after no one notified me)and then the guy at the store told me that they have received the phone but it wasn’t my phone it was the refurbished phone.After that I waited another4working days, so yesterday(1 June 2011)I went to the shop to collect my phone, the Manager told me that I can’t get my phone back I have to pay for the refurbished phone!The day I gave my phone in I was under the impression my phone was going to get fixed and not replaced!Nobody at the store told me that it’s going to be replaced or it can’t get fixed, then I would’ve never gave it in.I’m really not satisfied with the poor service and with the whole story, it’s unacceptable.Now my phone is shipped back to Canada without me knowing or my permission, I’ve lost all of my info on my phone(e-mails, contacts, bbm-contacts, etc.)I try phoningMTNstore in Cape Gate they don’t answer their phones or it is off, so I have to go there all the time!Nobody can help me and I’m really not satisfied with it, I’m not going to pay R1961 for something that wasn’t my fault, I already had to pay my contract for2months now and didn’t had a phone to use that I’m paying for!This only caused me inconvenience, up until now I had no blackberry and had to use another phone and another simcard.

i have not been able to browse with my mtn line after configuring it with the settings send to me by mtn and a friend said is the fault of my sim card

Poor Service Delivery
MTN offer poor service with regards to new contracts, I waited almost a month for my new contract (I submitted all the relevant docs in order). Made several follow ups during this period to a number that was constantly busy, or just rang (so much for customer service). Eventually was so frustrated I visited the store and was told "the forms were not submitted" and that it was to be done on the day I went to the store (co-incidence). The manager Reema didnt even know when the contract would be approved and could not give any details on how much longer it would take despite the fact I waited so long (which once again would mean an additional waiting period *sigh*). As part of the contract, I was going to convert my Vodacom prepaid SIM to the MTN contract as well. Being frustrated at this service, I cancelled my application and was told that all the documents would be destroyed and application closed. I have since taken a contract with Vodacom and now told that the contract is cancelled because I converted my port to MTN which means that MTN didnt cancel my application with them (SHODDY service). Now Im stuck without a decent phone, waiting for this to be sorted and once again I cannot get hold of a person to talk to at MTN. Please dont choose MTN, I know all the cell phone stores are bad enough but MTN are about the worse when it comes to service (they are the lowest used network in my opinion). Terrible!

Airtime taken away
I downgraded my one phone contract from prepaid packages to a Top-up 100, the Vanderbijlpark River Walk store manager Jacob who assisted me did not advise me that I would lose the R2000 airtime that was accumulated on the account. I logged a complaint ref no 74451577 with MTN and it was closed without anyone contacting me, again stating you lose the accumulated airtime.

I paid for the airtime, how can they just throw it away that is stealing in my eyes since I was not allowed to downgrade the contract prior to the contract reaching maturity.

This morning i phoned them gave them my PIN NO and to my surprise i was told they sent it to the wrong person, blamed the computer for making the wrong entry. Gave them a piece of my mind and the women asked for my cell no, now how can they say to me it was not meant for me when they ask for my number, so i ask to speak to the person in change, when i explain to him about everything he told me i must go back to school and put the phone down on me. This message was sent to me so i want my money and the phone, if i do not receive it i am going to take this matter further, if the company does not respond to my complain i will have this sms put in the newspaper and all over the internet.
