Forced to take a laptop contract
I went to MTN Outlet located at the Vaal Mall to apply for a contract of a laptop and i urgenly needed a laptop, i was given papers to sign and was told that once i get approved i will come sign a contract and get the laptop, 2 months down the line, i was never called, and i decided to ask my boss to give me a work laptop to use at home which i got. 3 months down the line a got a call from a company called increadeble solutions to get a laptop and i declined, 4 months my account was debited and when equired at MTN SP was told that its for a laptop, when i went to MTN Vaal Mall i was told that i signed a contract for a laptop and that they will contitue debiting my account...I need this Problem solved ASAP...

I've put up with their nonsense for so long, and they can't even bother to renew my contract
How simple can an overdue upgrade be? I CANNOT get hold of a sigle mtn shop to organise what i need - i phone the head office in jhb, they directed me to 100 cpt branches and NONE of them even bother to answer thier phones. And I've been trying for a week consistently.
What is MTN doing? I've been a client for ten years, and they so clearly want me to go to thier competitors. Fine by me, but please, everyone be warned - MTN does not care about their clients - take your money (and i spend R600+ per month on my phone calls alone) elsewhere - they don't deserve you.
I've put up with their nonsense for so long, and they can't even bother to renew my contract - I've sure Vodacom will be very happy with my custom.
MTN - I will be sure to tell every single one of my firends to move over with me.

MTN is hopeless and getting worse
Rashaad Harris of MTN Strand street is a very helpful operator. I have been a customer of his for some time. He is superb!!! I am trying to get a Nokia E75 telephone on an upgrade. For a number of weeksRashaad is getting nonsense stories from the Central Warehouse about whether or not they have stock. There is stock shown on the system but he has been told there is no stock. This has been going on for weeks. He has escallated it but now they do not even return his telephone calls.
I am trying to renew my wife s contract and am very close to moving to VODACOM. MTN service is shocking. My wife s telephone number is 083285 6298 begin_of_the_skype_highlighting 083285 6298 end_of_the_skype_highlighting.

Their practices are unethical, false advertising
MTN is advertising the Nokia E52 on their website. Have gone to 3 MTN stores, but am told they do not have stock, and cannot confirm when they will receive the item. Have left contact details with the sales consultants, but nobody bothers to clarify this issue.

All promise no action
I can't believe that they did it again. All promise no action! No call back, no follow up on my first request for failed sim swap. When I again phoned the call centre on a daily basis ( Saturday when no response was forthcoming)- different stories but no explaination - phatom emails to supervisors and tech staff who never respond back. Now another sim card ( the forth since my pnone was stolen on the 6 th semptember all at my inconvience and cost) another failed sim swap - will it ever get done !!! If home affairs could drive ppl to suicide MTN is just so much worse.

MTN debits customers without prior authorisation
As with another complainant I got a debit on my SIM Card used solely for data comms for 'Content charges'. I phoned MTN SP and even visited an MTN store only to discover that they will not do anything for me - I must phone Samber Trading myself and cancel the subscription (which I never made) and the amount already on my account is 'bad luck' - I will just have to pay it! (And the debit for next month is already on my unbilled account - I checked)
I signed a contract with MTN, not with any other company (eg. Samber Trading) and my agreement with MTN is to accept charges for my monthly subscription fee as well as the MTN call charges (if applicable) - NOT for them to accept debits from outside companies on my behalf! This is like having an Edgars account and Edgars accepts a debit from the Corner Cafe and invoice me for it! This should NOT be allowed!
I am awaiting a reply from MTN for a complaint lodged on the MTNSP site – “Will be attended to within 48 hours” – It has now been 72 hours, not counting holiday and weekend, and still no reply from them.
Is there NO recourse for me and must I accept that this will now happen every month? What can I do? Please help somebody!?

Stay away from this awful company
In May, I asked that my 3G card account be moved from my personal account to my business acount. after numerous enquiries, numerous promises, my account is still on my personal, and not my business account. last month, my 3G connection broke, and I took it to MTN to have it repairedreplaced as it was still under guarantee. I was told that there was a 4 - 6 week lead time in the repair replacement of the unit, and that if I needed one, I would have to buy another one, and they could not swop one out. i spent in excess of R2000 replacing the 3Gunit, with the assurance that it would be sent overseas on the same day for repairreplacement. on going to the shop today to enquire how far the replacementrepair is, to my absolute horror I found out that the unit had not even been sent away for repairsreplacement. this is apparently only going to happen today. I am at my wits end, as I seem to get naught for my efforts, every time I go to the shop, I am told yet another lie, and my account query and the 3 G card has still not been sorted out.

Stay far away from them
I called 808 at the beginning of Sept and spoke to the cancellations department as I wanted to cancel my contract. I was informed that it would be effective 13th October 2009 and that the last debit would go off my account end of October. I was also informed by the same person that I would be credited with a pro rata amount on the 26th of September as that is my billing date. I got credited with the full amount! I went to the MTN SP store at Centurion Mall and spoke to Kabelo and Leseecha (not sure of spelling) and after spending an hour at the store and getting late for work, that they need to hold on for the call centre and would not be able to call me back or assist me. They can not confirm that my last debit is in October as it “might” be November and that they are unsure why I was credited with the full amount, but MTN is aware of it!!! It is now more than 2 hours and I have still not received a reply! What terrible service! Oh, and I was also informed that I was paying for itemised billing for the past 2 years that I should not have been paying for as I did not receive an itemised billing!!!

I can't wait for my contract to end
After a month of enquiries MTN seem to have finally resolved my pro rata problem. I just wanted to send my disappointments in their call centre agents. I don't understand why someone cannot say i don't know. The call centre people are incompetent and if they can't help you you are stuck in there there is never a person your enquiry can be forwarded to. I still insist that everyone must be accountable for their action it is totally disgusting for MTN to fumble your account and when you call they tell you to pay. how can you pay while there is an error in their part. If I was not contracted to MTN after that incident i would have taken their SIM card and thrown it in the river I can't wait for my contract to end.

Notice of failure to pay account
MTN informed my fiance that she has failed to pay her MTN 1 account, but she doesn't have or ever took out a 1 account! When she took out her MTN 512mb data contract, they mixed her bank details up with someone else's details, informed her that she is not paying her bills (although it's on debit order) and threatend to take legal action against her. I've managed to sort this problem out, but now they are threatening again with legal action for the '1 account' which she doesn't have.
I've tried to get hold of someone at MTN who can help me but with no avail.
