Manager gave me the most pathetic 'what do you expect me to do about it' kind of apology
I sent my phone for repairs on Aug 28 2009, it was a simple software upgrade, the phone was received by the store on 8 Sept, today after trying to call about 15 times, someone (Khaya) eventually answered, the response they gave me was that they tried to call the cell no, on the 8th and it was off, i mean DUH they have my phone. i specifically left home & work numbers to be contacted on, but of course its too much of an effort for them to read instructions. Why after 10 days did they not care to try calling the home or work number?
Beverly who is the 'manager' gave me the most pathetic 'what do you expect me to do about it' kind of apology. i will most certainly be ending this contract when it expires.

Number porting and broken promises
I signed a new MTN contract on Friday 11 Sept and asked to have my number ported from Vodacom. I was promissed that it would take 2 to 24 hours. The phrase '2-24 hours' has been repeated to me ever since. Almost every time that you speak to someone, they say that it will take '2 -24 hours' to fix! You end up waiting for 24 hours and then have to log another call.
I still do not have an MTN line and have even been told by one of the 'Customer Care' staff that the issue would be resolved in 6 days and that I should call back every 2 days!
The 'Customer Care' call centre staff blame the Porting department, and provided me with a contact number to call them. It is almost impossible to get through to the Porting Deparment. A lady at the PE MTN main branch told me that you need to hold for 2 hours to get through to the department!
I have logged a complaint on the MTN Internet website, but have had no response.
Having just singed a contract with MTN that will cost at least R18000.00, I feel that I am well within my rights to cancel the contract on non performance.
I would be interested to hear if anyone has been able to cancel their contract within the 7 day cooling off period.

MTN has just lost me and my company as a client
My phone was stolen earlier this year in Pretoria and it took me an hour and a half on the phone, paying for the call, to reach someone at the call center to block the card.
Not hard to believe I suppose, but I was robbed earlier today and again I had to hold on for 40 minutes for assistance, once again paying for the call.
The call center is an absolute mess with technology that doesn't work. You get cut off, the system doesn't accept your MTN number you are prompted to enter, and no one answers for what seems to be an eternity. Try phoning 083 1808 and see for yourself.

What is the point of having a call center if you cant complain because no one answers the phone
If you suspend my phone 1 more time, Im going to suspend your sercice!!! This is the second time in 2 weeks you have suspended my phone for no reason, and it takes '2 to 24 hours' to reconnect! I pay by debit order and my next payment is in Oktober! If you dont have anything to do with your time, I have ideas to better you service!! my contract ends in 2 months, and I am seriously considering moving to a diffrent cell network! If this happens again, I'm stopping my debit order, because you are breaking contract. And Please do something about your service call centre because I can never get hold of anyone! What is the point of having a call center if you cant complain because no one answers the phone!

I still cannot get an answer as when my problem will be sorted out
From the first time I walked into this MTN Store, I have had shocking service. I received incorrect information, twice. Then, after getting the correct information, and being promised good service from another consultant, I again was dissappointed. All I wanted was to change 2 of our accounts from an old company name, onto the current trading name. 3 weeks later, after querying as to why this had not gone through, the answer I received was that she never received the bank statements, which were e-mailed to her. Instead of picking the phone up to let me know she hadn't received them, she chose to put all the other documents aside, and forget about them. I then got the bank statements sent through to her again. Now I sit, about 2 months later, and only 1 of the accounts have been changed. I have now been trying to contact someone in the store for about 3 to 4 hours today, to find out what is happening. Nobody answers the phone in this store. I eventually got the managers cell no. He also does not answer. I still cannot get an answer as when my problem will be sorted out.

I do not know how much more of this bad service I can take
I currently have a data contract with MTN. My usual bill is R197. In August I was suddenly billed R1200. I am in the process of disputing this invoice and was asked to fill in a 'Request for Access to Record of Private Body' form.
I needed assistance with filling in the form, and visited the MTN store in Somerset Mall, where I spoke to Fahim.
Besides the fact that he made me wait so that he could help 'his ' customer, who was behind me in line, he had absolutely no idea of how to assist me and didnt ask his colleagues for any help. Bearing in mind that his colleague Henzil seemed to know a little bit more about my query . I am very upset about the way I was treated by Fahim andthe fact that he did not even apologise for making me wait 40 minutes in store, only to leave with an incomplete form. I am a person who values brand and was planning to stay loyal to MTN . But I do not know how much more of this bad service I can take.

With the amount of excuses the MTN staff gives I can write a book if not an entire library! Each time I call in for an update I get the same excuses month in and month out! MTN customer service department is most technically challenged department I have ever come across! They have supplied me a bill update service where by I was told to dial *162*31981# in order to obtain my latest unbilled update. I can understand this service does not update instantly after a call but after 3 days there is a serious problem, and what am I told system upgrade! To add to this I contact the help desk to unbar my account intern they automated my statement to my email address! What is requested and what is supplied is the totally different, I truly am concerned about the service they supply and I can assure you I will be taking my business elsewhere. Take this as a warning from me DO NOT involve yourself with this incompetent service provider!

9 days and still no connection
I did a add on sim to my contract on the 6th of September 2009, and till today the 16th of September the sim is still not connected. Can I bring the phone & sim back for a cancellation, as there is no point in a new phone, without a working line connection!

Waiting 5 months for earphones and cellphone pouch
I upgraded on the 17 May and asked MTN (Cellular Express) to order me a cellphone pouch and earphones. They told me that the stuff will be in the next week and I must come and fetch it I called them and they told me that they dont have it. So they told me maby the next week and it was still not there. It is now the 11 SEPTEMBER and I still dont have received the earphones and cellphone pouch. They also never let you know if my requist has been orderd and if they have received what I was looking for.
