Money deducted from my prepaid account without any reason
Last week, probably round the 4th of September, I check my cell balance and it stated 8.51 where I expected it to be over R20. I was disappointed, but carried on with life.
Then Wednesday (9th) I check my balance again and it was R6.51 and I know I made no calls and only 1 SMS, but that was a bundle and shouldn't be charged. So I called the call centre (173) and a lady told me they are experiencing a problem with the system and that it is being investigated and my money will be returned.
Friday (11th) my balance is down to R2.51. I definitely made no calls or SMSs. So I call 173 again. This time a guy answered and said he is putting in some or other request, I must call again later.
So this morning (12th) I called again and a lady said their system is not up to date, I must call this afternoon again. Getting very frustrated, I told her that I'm going to report this to ICASA and she replied 'You are most welcome to do that, sir' and hung up. I'm not impressed with that, but the truth is, I have no idea where to start, so I'm coming to hellopeter for help.
It must be some subscription, but I've NEVER SMS'd any short numbers and the phone can't do wap and all the fancy stuff.

Its really frustrating been on the other end and knowing that if you call again you going to be on hold for another half hour
After been disconnected abut 5 times after numerous calls to the call centre and waiting for almost 30 minutes i get through. the lady was quick to assist me and informed me that my bill had not been paid. she told me to make the payment by giving me the account details and her e mail address to mail her once i have made payment. i have done this, but not heard from her again. i included in the mail to inform me once my account has been activated. is it not courteous to reply to one's mail or update me on happenings? Its really frustrating been on the other end and knowing that if you call again you going to be on hold for another half hour.

Deducting from my account after port and cancellation of SIM
I ported across to Vodacom end of last year, you discontinued the sim card, but you have continued to deduct the debit from our account. Simply due to the fact that i changed accountants this went unnoticed until I saw it on the bank account recently.
This is excluding the nonsense you put me through will the call limit not being activated in 2007 after my phone was disconnected for no apparent reason.
I want a refund please of R 2344 for the deductions made without my permission, and a further R 4079.76 for the over billing on my account for the call limit that you did not implement. This contract was cancelled at the end of last year and only ICASA's intervention seems to have created some reaction. Please contact me asap so that I can get refunded. I am planning a small claims suit against you if we dont resolve this ASAP.

We will never again make use of MTN
In July we bought MTN airtime & converted it into data to use for Internet. On 18Aug loaded another 500MB bundle. On 3Sep checked the balance, it was 0 which is impossible, we did not use internet for a week while on holiday. Certainly did not use the balance of the previous bundle & 500MB from new bundle in 1week. On 3Sep phoned MTN. They only had history up until end of Aug, their system would apparently update the next day. Phoned the next day, their system was offline. We were told to phone back later that night. So we did, system still offline. Since then, we’ve been phoning every day, 2X a day, their systems always offline. HOW IS THIS POSSIBLE? On 8Sep at 9pm phoned again. Apparently their technicians will look into it & it would take 24hrs. Why wasn’t a call logged on 3Sep? Phoned again at 1pm on 9Sep, problem not resolved. At 10pm on 9Sep phoned AGAIN. Call centre lady said they did not have all the info. ***, we gave all the required info on 3Sep. Again the technicians need 24hrs to work on it. It has been 144hrs (6 X 24hrs) & it is still not resolved. MTN IS PATHETIC! Everytime they have an excuse. This is UNACCEPTABLE!!! We will NEVER again make use of MTN!

Number ported, but not working
I ported my number from Vodacom to MTN, but was this the worst mistake ever! Problems from the start with stock and porting and now I've gone for 3 days without being able to be reached by clients or family. Although I receive coverage on the MTN network and can make calls, no-one can call me because when my number is dialled, an error message is played that the number is incorrect.
I was initially promised that after the port, my sim and number will be active in 24 hours, but it's nou already been 72 hours and no resolve. The MTN staff keep on telling me it's a network problem and it should be sorted by midnight or during the course of the day, but still no change. This has gone beyond the point of unacceptable! I'm convinced I made the biggest mistake ever to switch from an efficient Vodacom network to MTN that clearly does not know what it is doing or what customer service means.
I expected my number to be active from day 1 and this is a breach of contract on MTN's part. If they don't deliver by noon today I am going to cancel my contract and go back to Vodacom.
BTW MTN, try contacting me. I dare you!

Previous contract balance never transferred
We moved our second number to a new contract early this year and were promised the credit on the old contract would be transferred over. The same thing is promised every time we've called. But to date as far as I can tell this money has never been credited.

Shocking signal and billing
I am reaching breaking point at a rapid rate of knots!!! My cellphone bill has doubled!!! And this is not due to the fact that I am trying to use my phone more it's because I have to use the phone more! Let me explain what I mean by this. I have a Procall 600. This has 600 free minutes a month. Previously I would go slighlty over this limit. More recently I am using up these minutes returning unfinished calls due to the fact that I keep being cut off! Even this morning I had someone try and call me 4 times only to give up until i can get to a land line where i might be able to get through a conversation! Yesterday I nearly threw my phone out the window cause I had to phone someone 7 times to try and get a msg across! MTN need to be taken to task for this poor service delivery! I for one shal be migrating my account at the earliest convieniance to someone who wants my business and doesn't plan on ripping me off everytime I try and use their service.

Pathetic service from MTN 808 call centre, believe it or not they do not even know how to get hold of their OWN Fraud department...makes me wonder mmmmmmmmm do they really have one or was that also a random answer just to get me off the line, or maybe tick of one more 'happy' customer. Needless to say the problem has still not been reported much less sorted!!!

Credit references required for 15 yr old account
Have had business account with MTn for over 15 years. Wanted to add my 87 year old mother's phone to the account on a R19.95 contract, as I don't think registering her pay as you go sim is a good idea. Took all necessary documents - ID Book, letter head etc to MTN service centre, Liberty Mall, PMB. Filled out all forms, was then told I needed to provide credit references. Ridiculous.

Late delivery, less items in box, no contract
After ordering the Nokia 5800, we had to constantly hassle them for the phone. Till we got fed up and went to the branch upon which they somehow found the handsets which were supposedly out of stock. No contract was given to me, as is the law. Upon finding out from my friends who had purchased the same phone, I noticed I was not given a music stand and no protective cover. No indication of this was made to me.
