Lying to the customer in writing
Someone must be paid to copy and paste responses on this site for MTN. After 4 complaints about my handset not being repaired and 4 promises that says someone will contact me very soon, I have come to a conclusion. You are lying, in writing, in public with a straight face. If i stop paying my account, will that make you call me and give me service?
IT HAS BEEN 8 MONTHS! Cancel my contract, pay back my insurance money so i can take out a contract with Vodacom! PLEASE!!!

Not getting any answers or itemized billing
I have requested itemized billing from MTN, after we got an overdue account for R1, 941.12 - for an account that we DONT EVEN USE! My husband then wrote, signed and faxed a letter of permission for me to access his acount, as he works all day and do not have e-mail and telephone facilities as i do. I have sent them ALOT of e-mails asking for our itemized billing, but then the legal department keeps ons sending me mails requesting my ID and account number - they do this over and over. I have saved all of these e-mails, if you like I could forward them to you. I am now desperate and dont know what to do any more, I have heard so many good things about this site. Please help me, get the information from them to know why my account is overdue, if we are not even using the sim cards.

No customer service or response to complaints
No person at MTN had inspected the phone or even switched it on. How can this deduction be in their records if such did not happen? I either want another phone or cancel the upgrade or i will be going to media to report MTN! I requested my 14 day money back guarantee which is on the contract I signed, this had no response.

Account charges and call limit incorrect
My Brother Jean Pierre has added a call limit on his cellphone of a R150.00 but his cell phone account came to over R5000.00 after we instructed MTN to block the phone on R150 and which we received a reference number 56368687 given by their call centre namely Penwell Diale. How are we able to sort this account out if no one gets back to you. We have forwarded emails to MTNS email addresses and to date had no response. This is unacceptable. Please help us to sort this out. MTN even phoned my brother to inform him that his was has been blocked due to the the account total but shortly after that he was able to make a phone call to my mother. If you phone MTN and ask them what the call limit is on the cell phone they will say R150 as requested but how does an account get from R150 to over R5000 and then they say that their call limit is not accurate, R200 would have been acceptable but over R5000 is unacceptable. My brother still makes paynments of R200 per month so that MTN can't turn around and say he did not make payments. Myself and my mother forwarded a letter to MTN that my brother gave us permission to enquire on hius account but still we are not allowed to enquire and assist.

MTN cannot resolve anything
Last year, I renewed my contract. There was a special deal going with a contract wherein 200 free sms's were included as part and parcel of the bundle. I went for that contract.
Unfortunately, I only picked up in January that there was an issue with my billing. I was still being charged for my 200 sms's. I reported it to MTN, and the next month they then added an SMS 200 bundle to my account - WRONG. And didn't refund my previous charges - WRONG. So I called, and reported it AGAIN. it is now MARCH. It is STILL not sorted out, I am STILL getting charged for the bundle which should NOT have been added, as the 200 sms's were PART AND PARCEL OF THE DEAL. And I STILL have not received any refund. According to Vuyo (who I have spoken with at the 808 number) I will have to wait and see until APRIL to see if this has been resolved.
This is fraud, and MTN is in breach of contract, as I am NOT receiving the services that I signed up for and they are ******** MONEY. I have been patient for TWO MONTHS. I have been with MTN for 11 years - what do I have to do to actually get this resolved? I want this fixed by the end of next week, or I will happily contact the media and ICASA.

Poor service trying to have a phone repaired
I have a 1 month old Nokia 6710 Navigator. After about 2 weeks it suddenly started zooming in and out randomly in MAPS and Camera mode. A quick search on the internet revealed that this is a common problem wth these phones - yet most people had difficulty in getting the phone fixed. I sent my phone in to MTN clearly stating the problem as well as attaching documentation detailing the problem as found on the internet. I received the phone back 2 days later and I can only assume nothing was done. The service document stated that the software was up to date. I switched the phone on and immediately had the same problem. The phone had obviously not even been tested. I was asked to log another call which was on Wednesday - today is Friday and apart from an automated resonse have not heard anything from MTN.
Quite frankly this is slow and poor service. Surely a common fault like this should be documented and fixed immediately. In fact if they had tested the phone the first time around we would not be in this position at all.

Frustrated with MTN Incompetence
For over a year I have been having problems with not receiving itemised billing, which I pay for, in the mail. I have repeatedly been calling the call centre informing them that I am only receiving the Invoice and and not the itemised billing. Repeatedly I get the same response that everything is fine, and all my address details are correct and then my Itemised Billing is e-mailed to me but only on the months that I telephonically request it. I have now changed back to e-mail delivery which never worked well in the past. Even after I pointed out to a call centre agent previously that the address on my invoice and on my itemised billing were different, this month I still still find the same situation. The address on my Itemised Billing is an old address. This should explain why I am only receiving invoices yet am continuously charged for undelivered Itemised Billing. Please tell me what would it take for you to read the very documents which you are sending out, physically see this problem and then fix it? I cannot explain this problem in simpler terms. I am prepared to send you back the e-mailed Invoice and Itemised Billing that came from you, if necessary.

Data bundles dont last 60 days like they say
This is the second time i have loaded prepaid data and have not been given the full 60 days of use. I loaded on the 15th of Feb and the data has now expired on the 18th of Mar- i had about 170MB left. I was PROMISED by the MTN shop that i would still be allowed to use the data after the 18th and that i would get the 60 days before losing my data, but that hasnt happened. Last time this happened i mustve made at least 10 calls to the call centre and each time the operator told me a different thing. What a waste of money - 170MB of data wasted due to your false advertising that i have 60 days to use the data. Maybe vodacom will allow me my FULL period.

Mtn cannot cancel a contract
I sent in my cancellation letter for my contract on the 2nd of jan 2010.when i followed up, they said there is no cancellation request received. Once again i completed the cancellation request. When i followed up today again, they said no cancellation request was received. I'm sorry, but thats not right. How is it possible that neither of the faxes were received. Can someone explain this to me? I don't want to hear any excuses, i just want to cancel my contract! Monica, you were a great help, but your call centre never got the fax you sent. So now what? I need to pay another month? I am not going to let another debit order go off. I did what i was told to do. This is not a mistake from my side.

Unable to Sms roaming while overseas
I was overseas for the last week, and as usual i phoned MTN to arrange for international roaming. I spoke to a guy by the name of Vusi Mazibuko on the 2 Mar 2010, at around 21h00, who had promised that all should be well from that day onwards and for the duration of my travell and i should be able to sms, make calls and also had deactivated my voicemail. To my surprise when i arrived in Dhaka, i was unable to send any SMS's i could only make voice calls which cost me a fortune but i had to be in touch with my family. What really got me frustrated is the fact that i got really sick on the evening of the 7 Mar while in Shanghai and had to be hospitalised, and guess what my phone was completely dead, could not make calls, or sms anyone. I felt so helpless as i could not even reach my husband during this tramatizing experience. This is not happening for the 1st time with MTN the same thing happened to me last year Sept when i was overseas. Why am i not been respected as a customer after such a long and loyal period with MTN. I am forced to move my money elsewhere! MTN is pathetic!!
