Stay away from them
I contracted with Mustang Van Lines to move a one-room apartment from Noblesville, Indiana, to La Crosse, Wisconsin on 12-5-04. I was impressed with the service at first. The moving consultant answered all my questions and the movers were polite and efficient. All of my belongings were well-wrapped and inventoried. I waved the two movers off, fully expecting to see my things a few days later. It’s now 12-16-04 and my items still have not made it to Wisconsin. Calling either the moving consultant or dispatch is pointless, as the moving consultant has no idea where the van is and dispatch either puts me on hold for at least 10 minutes or tells me they’ll call me when they know when the truck will arrive. I’ve asked to speak to a manager but he or she doesn’t call me back. Getting someone who either speaks English or that you can actually understand is nothing more than a pipe dream. Yelling or becoming upset probably just gives them something to laugh about at their main office, and threatening legal action hasn’t helped either. It finally took a male, my father, calling them to find out the van broke down somewhere in Southern Illinois four days ago and for some reason, they cannot get another van, put my belongings on that and head to Wisconsin. I’m hoping at some point, hopefully before Christmas, the truck will arrive and my items will be intact. I’m contacting my credit card company to see if they can stop payment for the amount I’ve already paid and plan to refuse to pay them the balance. I’m going to consider reporting my items stolen with the police but am unsure if that will help. I thankfully have friends in the area who are helping me out and maybe at some point in the future will laugh about this. I feel compelled, though, to tell everyone to NOT use Mustang Van Lines. They are totally irresponsible. They claim to be the “moving company that cares” and to “take the stress out of moving.” Nothing could be further from the truth. I’ve had to take time away from my new job to deal with this, purchase clothing and stay in hotels. It's added nothing but stress to an already turbulant time. Please, stay away from Mustang Van Lines.
