Over charges
My bill came (12/09/2009 - 01/10/2010) for $448.79, the last month was $224.07. I suspect that no one came and check and whoever was doing the reading was estimating.

^ days to reconnect my service
After being a customer for 10 years, my 9/2/09 payment check was mailed but never received by them and I did not get a cancellation notice or phone call. My service was shut off last night and I was told it would take 6 days before I could be restored. Evidently, it is all an Atlanta Gas Light problem because MxEnergy is just the marketer and have no control over the service providers. Big flaw in the business model from a customer perspective. Before deregulation, Atlanta Gas Light had an obligation to be responsive to their customers. No cooking or hot showers for my family for 6 more days. Even a call to Jeffery Mayers office ( MxEnergy CEO) netted NO results. They just don't care ! Time to vote with my feet and get off the grid !!!

Not a Very Good Electric Company
I could type a long story here, truth is, I can't believe I have to be with this company for over 2+ years because I'm under a business contract. Basically, it started from the beginning, can you believe since I'm a business owner, the more electricity I use the lower my bill? What is that? In the last six months they took money automatically and didn't take automatically in a way that either took double payments in check form then withdrew more money automatically from my bank account spiratically. Then when I noticed it, they didn't want to correct it for over 4 weeks. A lady did get my money back quicker, but it was pulling teeth. I had to tell her as a Manager she couldn't even help, and all of a sudden, she made it happen. The customer service is poor. They are not in it to make your life easier they countlessly make admin mistakes. I will not ever use this company again. After that lady helped me and cancelled the auto payment, it still came out the month after! Then I called her personally and the customer service individual put me on hold to get her and for some reason she wasn't available. The man ended up helping me, but what for, the payment already went out again when it was supposed to be CANCELLED! I was pissed. Anyhow, poor customer service and no organization in the company plan to provide great service and definitely no empathy for my situation. Out to get your money and tie you into a long drawn out unhappy contract. Yes, I asked twice to be let out of it but they won't without burning me up to my ears with fees.

Awful company
MX Energy has completely disregarded my report of fraud by their employee Gilberto Hinojosa when he decided to change my electric service provider against my will. I repeatedly and very clearly stated; as he was attempting to carry a 'presentation', that I did not wish to change to any another company. This astute and tricky individual managed to make me believe that he only needed me to acknowledge, over the phone, that ' he had come by, that's all'
His actions resulted in unnecessary financial damages to me, a cancellation by my long time provider, a huge electric bill by MX energy, and when I requested to reinstate service again with my original provider, a steep new deposit was required, since my contract had been canceled. Not by me.
Only after numerous calls did a managing Supervisor: Mr. Carlos Sergio Gonzales, who acknowledged the situation, asked me 'not to do anything to Mr. Gilberto Hinojosa' please, and then he instructed me that, 'the next time anybody comes to my door: throw hot water on them!' Verbatim, Really... At this writing I have been threatened by MX energy with collection and derogatories, in an effort to extract $843.90 by Nov. 28, 2008 or else, for what seems to me to be a one month real scam.

Totally unethical
I signed up with MX Energy 3 years ago in New Jersey as a natural gas supplier under a Fixed Rate Plan, 3 year contract. Have never missed a payment to Public Service, who then pays MX. Contract is up and MX is saying I owe $1, 800.00.
I cannot for the life of me figure out how someone can owe that high of a balance on a fixed rate plan as they make adjustments to the fee according to usage, which this company seemed to jump from one end of the spectrum to another, going from $35 to $272.00, and I live alone. I tried to call them and request my records, they never sent them, called BPU, who has been less than helpful, but they did force someone from MX called who did not leave any message at all, finally got the records which are totally inexplicable, and got into an argument with representative of MX, as they talk in circles. So it seems Public Service is the billing agent for MX although they have not been able to explain anything either, but they say I may get a shut off notice even though I have paid every bill sent so far, with the $1, 800 exception to MX because they cannot or will not explain how this could occur.
I canceled my contract with MX and now am talking to an attorney to see what to do before I contact some TV station to make them explain, but do not sign up with MX, their practices are totally unethical.
