I am currently working full-time at Walgreens and want to quit as soon as I find another job. I like the PMs (money earned for selling certain items) and the employee discount, but they exploit you. I have worked at 5 different retail places before and Walgreens is the worst, worse than Walmart, but I didn't think Walmart was that bad. I am a Photo Tech and they always have 1 person in the department no matter what. Most of the time you only need 1 person running it, but Walgreens fails to understand that their photo department gets a lot busier around the holidays. Once in a while a manager will come over and help, if they're free, but usually the managers are too overworked to even do that. Yesterday I found out that providing technical support for our website over the phone is in my job description, I don't get paid enough for that. Walgreens doesn't give me time to browse their web site in order to figure it out. I refuse to explore the website off duty, for $8 an hour I don't bring work home. If a customer calls me asking for help on the website again, I will just pretend I know what I am talking about. I did that once and the customer just called another store for help.
When I am running the photo lab all by myself on a busy day, management should leave me alone. They shouldn't come to me and ask me to assist them with truck. It's like you can't have a free minute. It's bad enough I have to help cash out customers in the front end when it gets too busy.
On break I also talked with one of our pharmacy tech. She said she feels overworked as well. That is why there is always a line at the pharmacy, because they don't hire enough pharmacy techs, they are too cheap. They hire as few people as possible and work them like dogs.
The people who are most overworked are the managers. They do EVERYTHING. I just don't like the company. They treat their employees badly and it trickles down to the customers.
