After shopping makes and models for a few months, I decided to lease a Honda Accord Ex-L coupe (2 door.) Having been out of the loop in leasing, (currently driving a 20 year old jeep and 40 year old volvo), I went in with anticipation, and completely unsuspecting. I was pleasantly greeted, I described what I wanted, was told they had the exact one I wanted in white, and I test drove the car. I said I saw the ad on the internet for the Accord four door LX for 209.00 plus money down which averaged to 290.00 a month. I realized that the one I wanted would be more so I wasn't surprised when the salesman came out from talking to the manager with 339.00, 12, 000 miles sign and drive. I had gotten quotes on this car initially, anywhere from 430.00 to 357.00 with 15, 000 miles, sign and drive. I told the salesperson that I hoped with the lease specials going on for a bit lower payment and he went back in with my 319.00 per month counteroffer. After being gone for 15 minutes, the salesperson said the manager suggested that we split the difference and settled at 324.00, 12, 000 miles, sign and drive. I was delighted! I signed the worksheet, and gave my credit card for the first month, and motor vehicle fees of 67.00 totaling 391.00. My credit card was charged. The salesperson came out with the charge slip to be signed. With that, the manager came rushing over and said "Wait. I can't lease you that car for 324.00. I thought we were talking about the four door." I looked again at the worksheet in the salespersons hand and said "How did you think that??" The manager then said that I could have the four door for 324.00, but the car I wanted would have to be 374.00" The old bait and switch was happening to me!! I opened my mouth but I was in such shock that I couldn't speak. With that, the manager proceeded to say "well if you don't want the car (4 door) then I will void the transaction." He then said he "had no idea what car the salesperson had leased me". YET in their computer system was my name, the make and model, color, the vin number, and all the car details were listed on the worksheet and...AND I was the only one in the dealership! So every time the salesperson and the manager were "working the numbers" they didn't know which car they were discussing!! In addition, I am female, and was alone, with no witnesses to the fraudulent practice..other than my charge receipt, still in my wallet!
