On 11/23/10 my wife had new tires put on our Toyota Seq. by a local tire store(Manning, SC) and the mechanic suggested getting wheel alignment. I called TOYOTA (SWT) service dept a talked with Sam T.(SUPER guy) asked about wheel alignment and he said that they could do it. I met my wife and kids at the dealership (Scott Will Toyota) to have wheel alignment done around 4'oclock. Sam T. greeted us and took the keys. About 45 min. later while we were looking around lot our truck was brought up front and parked. We went in back inside waited another 20 min. for them to bring keys and bill no one came around. I walked outside to check truck and then went into the service office to inquiry what was going on. Sam T. told me the service manager neede to talk to me, the service manager told me that the alignment machine was not working correctly cutting on and off. I told the manager that I was planning on going out of town (Georgia) for Thanksgiving, he then told me to wait a few mimutes. About 10 -15 min. went by and the service manager comes in with my keys, bill, and alignment print out stating that the alignment print out was what he needed from the tech. I found out later that the service tech. did not want to do his job.Because our wait was long he (service manager) will only charged me half of the alignment fee. $31.00
On our way home (11/27/2010) only 5 miles from niece home we stsrted to hear a scrapeing ticking noise comimg from the front right side wheel. We turned around and drove back to her house, we jacked the front R. side up . My nephew pushed back and forth on wheel, we all saw the entire wheel wiggle loosely. Being a mechanic himself he knew that it was the wheel bearing. I told him we just had new tires put on and wheel alignment done and he asked if the technician mention about the wheel. To make it short we spent a few extra days in Stonemountain awaiting repair costing over $700.00, called (SWT) following Monday talk with service manager, explained the situation, my concern that his tech. did not catch this problem, driving around curve, up and down hills with my family scared the heck out of me. His concern was the cost and trying make every excuse to keep from saying his tech screwed up, he was no help. Truck repaired drove home that Tuesday night, looked at the alignment print out and every reading on the initial alignment reading matched the final alignment reading. After having a mechanic look at the reading he states that there is no way those reading should be the same especially after putting on new tires and not being align in about 2 yrs. I feel that the tech did not do an aligment or did not perform required inspection before alignment whereas he would have caught this saving me money, the scare of riding through the mountainand having the wheel broke lose at any time unknowningly. Took truck in on Wed. morning because of scrapping sound, expecting to see Sam T. but found out he was fired. We have dealt with this Toyota Dealership over 8 yrs and never had any problem or personell willing to take responsibility.
