National Association Of Professional Women Reviews

Be Aware !
I was a member up to a few days ago. I have alerts on my credit card and this $789 charge came across and notified me of a "charitable" donation. I said NO decline this auto pay. When I asked who was the company they said NAPW. Wow, I told them I would call but for now, decline any auto pay form this company. I call and was transfered to the Renewal Department. The short version is i was never so scared of what they would charge to my accont or gather information from my web site, I changed all my information and took down my picture form my website and put in fake information, and cancelled my credit card (creting additional work for me ). Ater being screamed and yelled at from one of their "employees", who is supposed to be representing a "professional" company. lI decided I do not want to be part of a company that treates members in this manner. AND they do not send out a notice of renewal prior to 30 days, as other very professtional organizations I belong to do. Seems they are all about the money and lack customer care and professionalism.

Maybe this is not for everyone.
I have read all the reviews on this page. Not one that I read sited what your career was. However, as for me, and my career objectives, NAPW is an excellent organization for networking. One of the reviews mentioned Star12. That goes with the membership and in my area there are so many seminars to help individuals with their business in various ways. To pay for each of these seminars would cost enough that most would not attend, because they wouldn't want to pay for it. I know what I pay for other seminars I attend in my area. The cost of these seminars vs Star12 is more than what some of you have mentioned in your reviews. Maybe many of you are already successful and do not need the exposure. For those starting a new business vs advertising costs, this organization will promote nation wide. Many people look to this organization for professionals in many areas. Just the members within the organization offer each other new clients. As I wrote in the review title....Maybe this is not for everyone. We all have different needs. The membership of 600,000 others do not call NAPW a scam. Percentage wise...complaints do not even reach the 1% mark. Some will always complain, no matter what the benefits are and some just want everything free. NAPW has done everything they have told me they would do and much more. So if you are just slamming them for the money, that is another issue. What they provide and what is overlooked is the services they offer. Maybe some of you have the time to do that on your own. If so, good for you. All I see here is the issue of money. Maybe the scam thoughts should go toward what is going to happen in the future when the dollar bill is no longer the world's currency. Then that dollar bill will be worth nothing. One country is already meeting with other countries, to make their currency the world's currency. They will not accept our money, as our debt is too high and all we are doing is printing money. Now that is note worthy of a scam! If you didn't take the time to understand the benefits of belonging to an organization like this and focus on your battle to get your money back and then post it as a scam, I think there are enough who have benefited tremendously to overcome the name calling. There are always two sides to a story. We have just heard one side. What a lot of people do is sign up, and then look at reviews just like I have read, and then they jump on the band wagon and want their money back over a "FEW" negative remarks. Where I live you can record phone conversations without notifying the other person. This is a positive law. I can listen anytime I want and so far...so great!

fraud/scam
Seems the NAPW has made it here to erase two years of complaints against their fraudulent practices. Ladies, google National Association of Professional Women complaints. You'll get a nice assortment of sites reporting on their scam operation. Good luck!

Fraud/Scam
This is a praise AND a complaint! First, a praise because Craig at NAPW refunded ALL of my money after I threatened to pursue him to the full extent of the law. I didn't think I would see the money but low and behold, there it was credited to my cc. Second, a complaint because the agency is still in business swindling one sucker after another (I was suckered in and I consider myself smarter than that). Beware ladies, do NOT sign up for a membership, whether they tell you it's "free" for now or not. Don't fall for it. Hang up, hang up, hang up.

Fraud/Scam/Swindle/Rip off
This is the most fraudulent company I have ever been taken by. I was swindled. You send in for a free membership then they call you, interview you, then flatter you with how you are so "accomplished in your field." After all of that they hit you with a large membership fee. In my case it was just under $500 with an additional fee in a couple of weeks of $189. I was so confused and while my brain was trying to process the information I found myself giving them my credit card number. I NEVER do that! This was a real brain-twist and I fell for it. Immediately I felt buyers remorse and tried to call and cancel. Of course I couldn't get through. I called the next day and talked to "Craig" who is just about as unpleasant as a person can get; he chastised me for not paying attention to the details and how could I "think this was a free membership." He denied my ability to call others on the local chapter list even though I gave him specific instructions how I DID find those women on the NAPW website! He also denied complaints on this website even though I quoted several of the complaints and how he is named frequently. I told him I called the NY Attorney General office. The next day he and his "manager" decided they would refund all of my money. I threatened that if he didn't follow through I would pursue him to the full extent of the law. So far today I don't see a refund on my credit card but my bank says it may come through next Mon. or Tues. We'll see. I have my paper work filled out for the attorney general's office and encourage others to do the same. We need to get them stopped. Too many of us hard working women are falling for this. We're not stupid we just are focused on how good the NAPW will look on our credentials. Phooey.

Charging money I never Authorized
I became part of the National Association of Professional Women and last year I never paid anything. Just a few minutes ago I found that they charged me the amount of $99.00 without my authorization. I am writing and trying to call them to clarify this. I opened a dispute via Pay Pal and I am really upset with this association. If this is the way they are making money...do it with someone else not with mine.

They are fraud & I want a refund!
I received a card to say that I was selected to join in this supposed awesome organization for free and am now not getting any responses when called asking for a refund. I feel as if I have been scammed but good. I want my refund, as I am a small business person who really does not have the money to pay for this and I have clearly been wronged by them.

Unauthorized Charges
I was called by Sally to advise I was selected as Woman of the Year for NAPW. After a lengthy overview of my career, credentials, degrees, certifications, etc, she then proceeded to ask if the $99 fee could be charged to my credit card. I told her NO because I was still disputing the $700 charge. This week I opened my credit card statement and the $99 charge is there. I am disputing the charge and filing a lawsuit against this company. They are a complete group of frauds...

Scam; identity theft
Like all the complaints that I have read on this site, I also received in the mail a card for a free membership with "no financial" obligation from the National Association of Professional Women. I thought "what do I have to lose?", and so I filled out the card and sent it on its merry way. About 2 1/2 weeks ago I received a phone call from a lady at NAPW. She asked if I had time to talk to her regarding questions with my membership. I said that I did not have time at the moment since I was driving, it was raining and I was on my way to meet a client. She sounded put out that I declined to speak with her at the time but she did finally say that she would call again.

She never called again. Then last week on Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday a man (I won't even say gentleman) named Craig called and left rude messages on my phone saying "I'm calling you again regarding your membership." First of all it was Thanksgiving week and I was very busy and second of all I was tired of these phone calls from an organization in which I had a "free membership".

Then, over the weekend I received a "black packet" in the mail from the NAPW. Inside was a card for a Premier Membership and a bill for $489.00. I was floored to say the least! On Monday while at work I got a phone call from Craig at the NAPW and I decided to take the call. He said some pleasantries of which I was having none of and then said, "I hear you have some questions regarding your membership?" I said that I didn't have any questions regarding my free membership but I had questions regarding why I received a bill for $489.00. He then became extremely agitated and rude. He said, "I don't understand! You spoke with someone and ordered the Premier Membership! We have the conversation recorded!" I, not so eloquently, told him to play the tape to me and throughout the call I kept saying "play the tape". Let me hear it...Play it! He stopped mentioning the taped call after that but then he says "we have all your personal information and you VISA card". First of all, the only personal information that he could have is the information that I filled out from the "card". Secondly, seeing as how the only conversation I have ever had with these jokers is to say that now is not a good time to talk, I have never given them, nor would I, my credit card number. Craig then said that someone answered this number and pretended to be me and ordered the "Premier Membership". Like heck someone did since it is my cell phone and since I can prove through my phone records that I never had a longer conversation with anyone from a (516) area code that lasted longer than 30 sec - 1 min aside from the very verbal fight I had with Craig last night.

I am on my way to the police department to file a formal complaint for identity theft since they claim to have all my personal information, which is a huge threat in my book, as well as a restraining order. If they have any information it is not from me and they acquired it through fraudulent means.

I hope that this helps!

fraudulent charges
I received a notice in the mail that I was invited to be a member of the National Assosication for Professional Women. The information provided made it seem like it was a society similar to NHS. I sent back to card and got a call a few weeks later from a Kimberly Evans asking me a few questions about my work history and goals, and telling me information about the society. She then said that for a fee of $7.08 I will have elite membership, her conversation absolutely led me to believe $7.08 was a monthly charge for membership. Toward the end of the conversation she informed me there was a $19.95 shipping and handling charge and yet later in the conversation she told me a total of $708.95 would be charged to my card. That is when I stopped her and said, "Excuse me, how much?!" She said $708.95 which is when I told her absolutely not, do not charge my card I do not wish to be a member at that cost. She then tried to sell me cheaper memberships to which I declined ALL of them. She told me I would then get an email regarding what free membership entails. The next day I never received the "free membership email" but I did have a charge to my bank account for $708.95. I immediately called my bank and explained to stop the charge, my bank representative and I conference called the N.A.P.W. and were then connected to the cancellation department to a man named Craig. I explained that my card was charged in error and I wanted the charge reversed, he tried to tell me my card had not been charged, my bank representative on the line countered that there was a charge on my account. He then claimed he couldn't find my account in their system. He then found my card name and told me it was associated with another woman's name and asked if I knew her, What?! At that point my bank representative told me this is extremely suspect and she was reversing the charge on the bank's end and connecting to me the fraud department. Craig meanwhile told me he had a recorded conversation of me providing my card number to the N.A.P.W. representative, at which time I asked him if he also had the part of the conversation recorded where I told her not to charge my card I do not want the membership. He began to raise his voice to let him finish as I talked him, he then accused me of being unprofessional, seriously?! Fortunately my bank representative fully supported the fact that this is a suspect company and the charges were fraudulent and they reversed the charge. But I strongly strongly urge other women to beware of this complete scam!!
