Equity Line of Credit
I am hitting a brick wall. About 5 years ago we got an equity line of credit from National City Bank for $60, 000. They were supposed to pay off all of our credit card bills directly.
During the past two years we have been flooded with collectors attempting to collect on what I believe are these same debts.
I have learned that National City Bank was bought by PNC Bank, for three months now we have been trying to obtain documentation that shows the National City Bank actually paid off what they were supposed to. We have been given the pleasant run around that it's in the mail, and it's at the point now where I am very pissed due to lack of response.
All I need is a copy of the original contract we completed that showed what debts National City Bank was going to pay off using our equity line of credit, so I can compare that list to our totally screwed up credit report.
I have good reason to believe this was a deliberate attempt to defraud us, because our creditors that we had been doing business with for over 10 years all had the wrong mailing address for our residence.
I need advice on how to force PNC to provide the original contracts, how to get this fixed if we were defrauded, and how to have an attorney take these companies and their leadership to court.

This is a bank without any scruples or compassion for anyone
I was the victim of a Mystery Shopper scam. I cashed the check against my account only later to find out that the check was countfeit. When the banks Loss Prevention contacted me I immediately apologized to them and told them I would be willing to pay the money in payments. I also filed a police report. I thought that we had an understanding and was told by the Asst bank Manager to contact the Loss prevention Dept on that Friday and they would be able to prevent collections and set up a payment plan. On that Friday when I called I spoke to R----who sent me to D---- voicemail. She never bothered to call me but proceeded to withdraw ALL the funds out of both my checking and savings account inorder to make the bank whole without any regard to me the customer. When I called after receiving notice of this she said it was legal to do so And to go get a copy of agreement from the bank and hung up. They also bounced all my checks and charged me bounce check fees as well as daily overdraft fees. These are hard economic times and if any bank couldn't care less if you pay your Mortgage or any other bills then They are not the kind of bank you should do business with. This is a bank without any scruples or compassion for anyone. Do Not Bank there Please learn from my experience. Victimized twice !st by Scammer then by National City Bank!!!

Rip off
I opened a Christmas club acct with National City in 2008. I didn't deposit any money in it. In 2009 Dec. the bank called and said that I owned them $1, 172.52. in overdrafts charges. I was supposed to deposit money in not be charged over draft fees. Now I have a collection agencies calling at work and at home for the money. I told the collection agencies to stop calling me at work and I'm not paying them anything. I just hope this is not going to stay on my credit report. The bank should be ashamed. I know I have trouble with my banking acct. but not to be charges this much for a Christmas Club. Only my overdrafts was so high that I whole paychecks was gone, I couldn't get any help from the bank. They said that it was my problem I overdrew the acct. The bank charges 8.00 a day for overdrafts and 34.00 for overdrafts checks or items.

Employees are rude and they go out of the way to screw you
This company is unreal not only are the employees rude they go out of the way to screw you. They sent me an invitation to take advantage of the zero interest repay plan (I have gotten behind on my credit card payments)they did not specify a date the payment had to be made, the reminder phone calls began on the first of the month. When I called to find out why I was being contacted I was greeted by a very rude man who proceeded to lecture me on my finances. He then informed me even after I make the required payments it will still take me five years to pay this account off and it will always state that I am behind. That's funny -- no mention of this in the letter they sent.

Overdraft charges
My bank was originally Harbour Federal, bought out by National City. For several years I had my payroll checks direct deposited with no problem. Until National city took over and started holding my payroll checks for up to 48 hours, without notice. I was under the impression that a payroll ck could not be held. Never the less, because I also had auto bill pay set up...I had over $1500. in overdraft charges. Plus, had to repay all the out standing bills, the bank never payed them. Now I have an unpaid balance due of $340. which has gone to collections...I refuse to give them another dime.
I have heard from some people that there is a Lawsuit against National City Bank for there bad Practices... Anyone heard anything?????????

Unfair overdraft fees national city bank
I too have complained to the National City Bank about the way in wish overdraft fees are assessed. By the highest to the smallest amount which is processed against your account would in most instances insure that your balance would be in the negative when left to pay the smaller amounts if you are unable to replenish your account on time. I have complained to the National City Bank about this policy and was told that this policy insure that a customer's mortgage payment will be paid.
For example if you have the following payments scheduled for payment and your balance is $ 100.00, instead of paying items 2, 3, 4 and 5, the bank will pay item 1 and charge you late fees for items 2, 3, 4, and 5.
Also, the bank use to allow the customer to make a deposit the same day to cover those items in the pending status. As of January 1, 2009, the bank will charge you an overdraft fee if your account is negative from items in the pending status.

Violation of Privacy
On December 30th, 2008, my husband deposited a check into our National City Bank checking account at the Coldwater Branch. We live over an hour away and only visit the Coldwater branch a few times a year, if we are visiting his parents. Upon entering the building, he found out our sister-in-law, Courtney (Yeakey) Turner, was a teller.
After leaving, we immediately called corporate to be sure that Courtney hasn't been looking at our account without our approval, and violating our privacy. Corporate informed us that National City has a 3 month history of employee login information, and reported that Courtney had looked at our account 3 times within the past three months, and even gave me the dates of her violations!
Corporate suggested that we contact her supervisor with our findings. I spoke with the manager, Michelle, and she stated she did not know the proper protocol for privacy violations and would have to call corporate herself. Michelle called me later that same day, and stated she spoke with Courtney, and told her our findings and gave her a verbal warning. HERE IS THE SHOCKER!!! Michelle told Courtney it was US, violating our privacy again!!
Surprisingly, we then got a call from Courtney's husband, Jay Turner. He immediately began yelling obscenities at me! Now, being a teller, you cannot tell anyone, even your husband, who are customers at the bank because that is a violation of privacy. Obviously, Courtney told Jay everything, violating our privacy again.
I was not satisfied on the way this matter was handled at the Coldwater Branch. It was apparent that Michelle decided to discipline Courtney with a slap on the hand, when Courtney violated her first and most important oath as a teller, PRIVACY. I called corporate and the Saline, MI Branch to report my disapproval of the discipline, or lack thereof, but since Michelle already gave Courtney the verbal warning, nothing more could be done until Courtney look at our account again.
Everyone I have talked to, including other banks and employees of banks, including my mother who has been a teller herself for 30 years, said that proof of a privacy violation is an automatic termination. But not at the Coldwater Branch, privacy must not be important. So, I had to switch banks, which was a lot of work! But not that it matters much, because Courtney now knows all of my personal information including my income, debt, social security number, ect.
BOTTOM LINE: National City Bank is a JOKE at the Coldwater Branch. It is obviously mismanaged. Please do not trust the Coldwater Branch!!!

Hold on Deposits
A check I deposited was put on a 5 day hold - this is a check from my financial advisor, Primerica, drawn on a PNC account. I asked why is there such a long hold on their "parent company" check and was told the merger was not complete and PNC was, therefore, a separate bank. Because of this long hold that I was not expecting, my account is in a negative balance and NCB has started assessing overdraft fees to my account and will continue until the hold is released after the 5 day hold is complete. I asked the branch manager where I opened my account to release the hold and refund the fees - she said I had to contact the branch where I made the ATM deposit. I contacted that branch manager who referred me to the other branch - bouncing me back and forth. Both refused to help me - I have filed a complaint with the Office of the Comptroller and my state's attorney general. I told each manager that once my account is settled, and they're done making money off of me, I will be moving my $$$ to a credit union.
Neither one seemed to care.

Bad customer service
I opened a bank account for my kids about year and 1/2 ago and the person at NC told me that I had to open a checking for my kids since I didn't have $200 minimum to deposit. He fails to mention if there is no activity on the account after 6 months the account will be closed. So I found out the the money I deposited for my kids is gone. When I call to complain they tell me that I could have opened a savings for my kids with any amount. So because I wasn't given the savings account that I wanted I lost their money. So when I call to complain they say they will call me back...uh yeah never did call back. Nice... I could go back to the National City on Woodman and punch that guy (the one who set up the account more than the one who didn't call me back EVER)! Like it's not hard enough being a single mom and trying to do the right thing. THANKS NATIONAL CITY! I still bank with you for now, but I don't give good referrals anymore like I use to and won't.

Will destroy you
This bank has destroyed me by sueing me over a $120 .00 credit card card payment they said they did not receive on a current account. Every time I tried to fix it either they would tell me I wasn't on their program or some awful person would call and harass me, this was one of the most awful experiences I have ever had. I was sued by them and even though I tried to pay them numerous times they made it impossible for me and the bottom line is, I am being forced to file bankruptcy over an accoun that was current for 2100. that is now up to 9000. in attorney fees, he has tried to levy my car and every thing else and has basically ruined me
