cancalation of television protection plan without request or autoration
On August 4th I purchased a 32" Hitachi television from HSN and at the same time I also purchased the $74.85 Protection Plan that was being offered by National Electronics Warranty Corporation. I contacted HSN several times over a period of 6 months inquiring as to why I hadn't received it. With each call I was assured that it would be taken care, of but it wasn't. So with no one else to turn to, I finally contacted National Electronics Warranty Corporation directly by phone and got nowhere. On Dec. 29th out of sheer desperation I decided to send a scathing letter of complaint assuming someone in THEIR offices would finally take care of the matter. Two weeks after sending that letter threatening to go to the media and the Better Business Bureau I received the Protection Plan in the mail…followed by another a week later. Then the following week I received a check without even the courtesy of a cover letter indicating that Protection Plan had been canceled. It was never my intention to cancel the Protection Plan and at no time did I request or authorize that cancellation. After several more phone conversations with many different people *including supervisors* I was told that this matter could easily be reversed and was advised me to return the check along with a letter asking that the Protection Plan be reinstated immediately...which was sent on 1-28-10. This is now the end of February, 2010 and I'm now being told that *ACCORDING TO THEIR RECORDS* my letter with the returned check was never received...therefore, no action for reinstatement could be taken. How absurd ...as my return address was on that letter and it was not returned to me. I was told to write yet another letter which I did and was sent on 1-19-10. I'm obviously being given the run around and have come to the conclusion that I've been scammed. I am now the owner of an expensive TV without the Protection Plan I initially paid for, wanted and expected to arrive in a timely manner.
