National Fitness Financial Reviews

I will never sign another gym contract that uses this company and I will never sign a contract with either of these gyms again
I signed a membership agreement with one gym and it got bought out by another gym. I paid all my dues all time etc. I asked the gym representative TWO times when I knew my contract was coming close to the end how much notice I needed to provide. They told me TWO times it was a thirty day notice and gave me the contact information for National Fitness because I had to write a letter to them. I sent my letter 45 days in advance and recieved a phone call from National Fitness saying that I needed to give a sixty day notice. On top of that, they were rude! I understand what my contract says and that I am bound by it. I understand that they deal with a lot of people who dont want to pay what they are supposed to, etc. However, I was trying to do the right thing! They treat you like you are scum. My contract from the original gym never printed correctly so that is why I asked the gym representative. When I called the gym to try and clear up the situation, they then asked me if I had signed up to be a member when the old gym was in charge. I said yes. Then they said, OH, that's why. You have to give a sixty day notice! On top of that, because I wrote in my letter, "please end my billing in accordance to the end date on my contract" they deleted my payment information and I had the collection department calling me even though my account was up to date!It has been a headache just to set up the payments right so I can finish my obiligation. I asked to make my payment on the monthly schedule like I am suppose to and they gave me a hard time about it! So in the end, I have to pay an extra month because of their incompetance. I have no argument because it is supposedly what my contract says, and truthfully, it is not worth the headache. It doesnt matter what you do, you will get burned either way! I will never sign another gym contract that uses this company and I will never sign a contract with either of these gyms again.

claimed no termination/ undue fees
I signed a 2 year contract with Ladies Workout Express. A year or so later, I accepted a job in another state and went to Ladies Workout Express to cancel my membership. I signed some forms and was told that I had to give 30 days notice, so I should see one more automatic payment come out of my account. Three automatic payments later, I finally closed that bank account because they wouldn't stop taking my payments. Further, the gym has since closed, and Fitness Financial has now put on my credit report that I owe them $120. I called them to work out the details and they claim I never terminated my contract. Later, in the same conversation, they claimed that I sent them a letter terminating my contract but that my account had already gone to collections by then. I explained to them that I could prove when I moved out of state, and they said that since it's in collections, that doesn't matter anymore. So, I asked if they'd lower the payment amount, even though it's technically them that owes me money, not the other way around. I just want it off my credit report. She put me on hold, then came back and said I could pay them $80 to make it all go away. I offered $50 and explained to them that I have already paid them far more money than they were entitled to. She told me that the $80 is no longer valid and neither is the $120. She said my price has gone up, but she wouldn't tell me how much. I asked to speak to her manager, but she told me her manager doesn't take phone calls. I asked if her manager would return my call. She said she might, but it would take 7-14 days. She wouldn't tell me the manager's name or the manager's boss's name, either. She told me that if I want to get this taken care of, that she is the only person I can talk to.
Scammed by National Fitness July 26, 2009
Fraudulent billing practices
Totally fraudulent business practices. They keep charging your credit card beyond your cancellation or contract expiration date; they claimed I still owed them money even though they charged me for 8 months of personal training I didn't receive because I'd cancelled in writing when I moved. Then they started sending threatening letters and making almost daily harassing phone calls to my work and cell phones, even after I told them to stop. They refused to cash my $100 cancellation fee check, saying they couldn't cancel a membership that was in arrears, and they repeatedly threaten to send me to their "Advanced Collections" department. The harassment began within a week of my telling my Visa company to put any charges from National Fitness on hold pending my dispute. This nightmare has been going on for months now, and I've hired an attorney. Their new claim is that my "auto renewal" cannot be stopped. These bozos are complete scam artists and even have ties to Roger WIttenberns, CEO of Diversified Health and friend of Christopher Gambino, aka Mafia. Be careful to never sign a contract with a fitness club that uses National Fitness Financial for their monthly billings and debt collection. Mieko's in Washington State uses them, as well as others. Professional Fitness, the personal training company, is also in on the scam. They spout the same lies as National Fitness does. Professional Fitness is based out of Raleigh, NC. National Fitness is in Layton, Utah.
I reported them to the Attorney General, have written local news investigative reporters, and am making signs to display on public property by their gym, so the public can know the truth. I will not stop fighting these scheisters. They deserve to go out of business.

won't stop billing credit card
I have fulfilled my 1 year contract for a personal trainer. I do have a copy of the contract but my copy is so faint that I cannot read it. I was informed by my gym that the contract is automatically renewed. I didn't have a clue this would happen. I sent a certified letter and have proof of delivery. When I call the company they say they have 30 days after receiving the letter to cancel the contract. My credit card has been charged for 2 months of services I did not receive even though I cancelled my membership and have put the transactions in dispute. Should I just close my credit card? I am so aggravated. I like the gym and I really didn't want to cancel my membership with the gym, only the personal trainer contract.
