prize in strike it rich VI sweepstakes
this has been going on about for five months now. My significant other is a subscriber to the periodicals magazine company and this sweepstakes started showing up when he joined the periodicals company for a batch of magazines. "Strike It Rich VI Sweepstakes" is the name of the contest and we really don't know if this is a real deal or a scam. gets an envelope about every three to four weeks stating on the front in RED letters SECOND NOTICE. on the back of the envelope and the side of the letter inside is this:
(NOTIFICATION SYSTEM from National Magazine Exchange the numbers below that are: :}0476:052648":1452) and all the little characters are what are on the papers. this is the deal he calls the number above before the deadline (which he has been doing for bout five months now) then he gets asked all sorts of questions and asked if he wants to be subscribed to the periodicals company (which he is already a member of) then they enter his name and we wait for another envelope. the prize amount on this sweepstakes is $2, 100, 000.00. is this a real deal or a scam? have no idea how to tell on this for it coensided with the subscription with the Periodicals magazine company.

WANT TO CANCEL
I RECEIVED A LETTER STATING TO CALL THE FOLLOWING NUMBER TO BE ENTERED INTO A SWEEPSTAKES GIVING THEM MY REGISTERED PRIZE ENTRY NUMBER 740152422. I MADE THE CALL AND WAS CONNED INTO PURCHASING MAGAZINES AT THE RATE OF 1.29 PER WEEK FOR ALL THE MAGAZINES AND THEY SAID THEY WOULD BILL MY BANK ACCOUNT FOR 67.08 FOR 4 MONTHS AND I WOULD RECEIVE MAGAZINES FOR 48 MONTHS. I WAS TOLD THAT I COULD CANCEL THE ORDER WITHIN 3 DAYS. THE NUMBER GIVEN 1-800-475-1942 WHICH I ATTEMPTED TO AND RECEIVED NO ANSWER. MY ACCOUNT HAS BEEN DEBITED JUNE 13, 2008. I WAS NOT AWARE UNTIL I GOT ONLINE AND FOUND OUT THAT THIS COMPANY HAS DEFRAUDED ME AND WANT THE ORDER CANCELLED AND MY ACCOUNT CREDITED BACK. I FELT PUSHED INTO THIS BY THEIR OPERATORS AND SUPERVISOR. I AM CURRENTLY TOTALLY DISABLED WITH MULTIPLE SCLEROSIS AND HAVE SHINGLES WHICH I AM HEAVILY MEDICATED FOR THE PAIN AND WAS TAKEN BY SURPRISE. I REALIZE THAT IF I HAD NOT BEEN MEDICATED I WOULD NOT HAVE AGREED TO THE SALE OR GIVEN MY INFORMATION OUT. I THOUGHT I WAS ENTERING A SWEEPSTAKES FOR $2, 100, 000.00. I WAS TOLD I COULD CANCEL WITHIN 3 DAYS AND THEY ALREADY TOOK THE MONTHLY PAYMENT OUT OF MY ACCOUNT.
I WANT THIS CANCELLED AND MY ACCOUNT CREDITED IMMEDIATELY. I WISH I HAD CHECKED OUT THIS COMPANY BEFORE BUT WAS NOT THINKING RIGHT WHEN I SPOKE TO THEM. WHEN YOU ARE LIED TO AND CHEATED UNDER THE PRETENSE OF THIS BEING A SWEEPSTAKES WITH NO PURCHASE REQUIRED. BEING DISABLED WITH MS AND ON A FIXED INCOME I AM NOT ABLE TO AFFORD SUCH A EXPENDATURE. I NEED YOU TO MAKE SURE THAT OTHERS LIKE MYSELF ARE NOT DRAWN INTO SUCH SCHEMES AND FRAUD. I HAVE LEARNED A LESSON THAT THERE ARE TOO MANY COMPANIES OUT THERE PREYING ON THE ELDERLY AND DISABLED PEOPLE. IT IS IMPAREPATIVED THAT MY ACCOUNT BE CANCELLED AND MY MONEY RETURNED TO MY ACCOUNT. SINCERELY YOURS, KAREN STONE

Tried to cancel my order
I tried to cancel my order due to my financial situation with my daughters dad and told them I couldn’t do the payments and I had to cancel my order because I was screwed over my daughters dad with money and they told me they couldn’t cancel because they had already paid their companies. I used to work for a telemarketing company and I know *** well that you can cancel the orders because we have done it so I know it could have been done. Please get this taken care of me in the future and for other consumers. Thanks.

Fraud and sweepstake scam!
Told my mother she "won" a sweepstakes" - even chose the magazines for her! Of course, a subscription was a "condition" of winning... Publications include Good Housekeeping, Everyday with Rachel Ray, Body and Soul, Best Life, Hallmark. Never even heard of some of these and they know full well what is going on... GH referred me back to these scam artists. Bill, a very charming, as in snake charming man, hung up on me when I tried to cancel, called my mother a liar and was going to "cut us a deal" for one year. Why aren't these crooks being stopped?

Poor service!
My Name is Trina, I received an urgent letter from the National Magazine Exchange from 16120 US Hwy 19 N, Clearwater Florida 33764 about a 2,000,000.00 sweepstakes entry. I called the number and some lady started asking me question about what I will do with the money if I won etc. She then asked me if I wanted to receive magazines and I told her that I was'nt interested because I am currently receiving enough magazines already. She talked me into receiving more and that they would debit $1.00 from my account and $49.00 each month there after but instead they deposited the $49.00 plus $69.00 from my account the same day. I think something should be done about this they are ripping off people big time.

Unrequested magazines and charges
Sweepstakes - this should be illegal. I was told I would get magazines to try for three months. I said I didn't want them and was talked into "just" trying them for three months. As she was ending the call, she said I'm also throwing in...blah blah blah. What I got was magazines I never heard of nor would I order: Vixen, Latino, etc. Now I'm being charged hundreds of dollars. When I just called, Jerrald #49151 rudely told me I ordered them and paid for them and there was nothing to do. He said "Well you got what you paid for" I demanded to speak to a supervisor-- Charlene --of course, she was not there. He said he was in charge. He wanted to know what my credit card number was -- why??? they obviously have it cause I can't stop them from charging me.
I demanded to talk to someone else. He put me on hold and told me to fax my statements to Hazel Bishop for refund if they damed so. I don't know where the company is to turn into the BBB.
Does anyone know where this company is located?

Big scam!
I recently entered a 2 Million dollar sweepstakes by telephone from Clearwater FL (727) 712-0382. They stated that they would send me some magazines to preview with 90 days to cancel and if I did not cancel I would be charged 67.00 every 4 months. Within 2 days they charged my card 67.08, then another 67.08 within a month.
They also sent me a Value Plus letter for $40.00 in gas with a non existent website to claim the 40.00. Value Plus charged me $1.00. I called National Magazine Exchange and they we VERY rude!!! I kept telling her that I wanted to be credited and cancel these magazines, which I never received in the first place. She said I signed up for FOUR Years!!! What a joke. I kept telling her to cancel this and credit me my $134.00 - and her response was how much trouble it was to get the magazines & make the labels.
Finally after about 30 minutes she said she will refund my money, 'good luck on the sweepstakes', then slammed down the phone. I doubt if this will be this easy to get my money back--so beware of this scam.
