Bad plumbing
Our house needed major plumbing renovations which included an the correction of a bad sewer pipe connection for a bathroom in the our foyer. While searching for licensed plumber online, we came upon servicemagic.com which seemed credible. Thru service magic, we came into contact with Barry Gaines, owner of National Plumbing in Brooklyn, New York. He came over did a brief estimate, and assured us that he would be able to correctly install the sewer pipe needed for the bathroom in the foyer. I asked my son (22), to oversee the work they would do while, I was at work. The labor consisted of 3 tasks, repair a toilet in the basement that just wouldnt flush, completely replace a toilet upstairs by our bedroom, and the sewer pipe connection that would run from the foyer into the basement sewer pipe. The clogged toilet and new toilet were done sufficiently, not the piping for the foyer. The piping for the foyer, comes thru the ceiling of the basement into the boiler room, runs along the ceiling, and then makes a sharp drop to the sewer connection past our washing machine in the boiler room. Apparently, Barry Gaines idea of fixed was installing the downward pipe that led to the sewer connection, directly against our $1500 Kenmore washing machine. This created a situation while it is common knowledge all washing machine shake, while washing, the shaking would slam against the downward pipe. I came upon this coming home from work, only when to call Barry Gaines and suggest this installation was improper, to hear his professional opinion of getting a new washing machine. But I digress, before calling Barry Gaines, in good trust I payed him the full amount of the bill in cash, yes, cash, as in $1025. My worries only increased when my son told me while Barry Gaines was here at first for the plumbing work, he left and let his assistant do the rest of the work. He determined that the installation of the sewer pipe connection was good enough. His lack of credibility finally came to light when he sent over his assistant (he didnt come at all), and this new method of installation, finally caused what you call a plumber for, a clogged toilet, in brand new bathroom in the foyer. The circuit breaker, washing machine, gas meter, and electric meter are all cropped in the boiler room in a corner. The sewer pipe connection is also in that corner, the first attempt blocked the circuit breaker and electric meter, the second attempt blocked nothing. Except utilizing three elbows to lower the sewer pipes to the connection in the corner, each elbow a potential for a clogged toilet. That is now clogged, with Number 2 in it. 3 weeks after this brilliant method, right now just a few hours earlier, on Memorial Day Weekend, Friday to be exact, I call Barry Gaines. And get nowhere, I have been completely hustled. Not only do I have a useless toilet in a brand new bathroom, but the brand spanking new toilet upstairs, clogs also. Just not so much. Barry Gaines is a fraud, complete fraud.
