National Union Fire Insurance Company of Pittsburgh, PA
I have had their insurance for almost 12 months. I have had a qualifing Accident back on April 9th of 2011. Another driver crossed the double yellow line and hit me head on.
This resulted in 9 broken bones. I was in serious condition and flown to another hospital that was better equipped for the trauma I recieved. I had to have 2, 5 hour+ surgeries to put me back together. I had totally forgot about this insurance. I spent 20 days in the hospital.
When I called to open a claim with them the very nice lady told me all I had to do once I recieved the forms in the mail was to mail them back filled out and itemized bills from the hospitals. They paid the emergancy claim fairly fast. The hospital stay has become a different matter. They sent me a letter saying what I sent was not good enough and it had to be a UB-04 form and all admission and discharge notes from the doctors. So, I did that...I got what they asked for and sent that in. Then I get another letter saying they need nurses notes for my stay at the hospital. So, I call and ask why... they have the Dr's notes...which I have copies of and at this point my file is 1 1/2" thick...of what was wrong with me. I was bleeding out from my liver the first 24 hours after this wreck. I was in ICU for 4 days. I was non weight bearing on 3 limbs, due the broken bones. I got my first helicopter ride, from the hospital in my home town to another in Little Rock Ar. ( mind you, this is the #1 trauma hospital in the state ) Now here it is 3 months later...and now they send me a letter stating " Faxed eligibility form to verify hospital's accreditation status" OMG, we talking about the the #1 trauma hospital in the state. I have called them and told them this is over the line and they are wasting time instead of paying up. I have told them this is ludicrous. They claim that they do not have this hospital in their system...Huh? The hospital is UAMS in Little Rock Ar. You would think that a insurance company selling hospitalization coverage would have all #1 Trauma centers in the United States...right? I keep calling and asking for a supervisor...that is a ridiculous thing to ask. They are always too busy. One time I got through to a Senior Claims Anlysist named Steven. He told me I should call the hospital because they had not gotten back to them in regards to their fax. ( accerditation status ) OK, so I did ...I contacted adminstration at UAMS and talked to a lady about this...I gave her the info to call them, because she had never heard of a insurance company asking for hospital accreditation and she was not sure of what they were asking for. She made numerous calls the Steven to no avail. Hmmmm makes ya wonder. So, my complaint is with all info they have requested...still no money. I have read my policy and I qualify for the hospital benefits. I need these benefits to be paid, so I can inturn pay my hospital bills and I have not had a income since the accident and I can not work as of yet. I need to pay my bills. But, No...they want to drag their feet about this. It is clearly stated in my policy...I'm qualified. I have asked when I do call to the claims dept. Are you dragging your feet, cause it such a large payout?
More than one operator has told me yes. Gees, what would happen if I had the policy longer then 12 months...hospitalization payout goes up a lot. This company is totally over the line in regards to payout and I'm getting very fed up with this. Unless I get solid answers from these people this week...I'll be stepping it up a notch and continue that way til either pay me or I have to get a attorney to handle this.
