Fraudulent Charges
Nations 1st communications, somehow, added monthly charges of $15.69 to my CentruyLink Telephone account each month for internet voicemail services. I did not authorize, nor was I aware of this service until I received my billing statement. I called CenturyLink concerning this charge and was given a 1-800 number to call to address this problem with Nations 1st Communication. The representative that I spoke with assure me the charge would be reversed and dropped from my CenturyLink account. Of course, when I received my next month statement I was charged an additional $15.69 and a $5.00 late fee for not paying the previous balance due. When I called the 1-800 number to question the new charges, I was asked to press 1 for English and to punch in my account number. No representative picked up on any of my calls. I continually received a recording stating all the representatives were busy helping other customers and my call would be answered in the order it was received. I called repeatedly and was on hold for 30 to 45 minutes each time. No one ever picked up my calls. I finally made contact with my telephone company once again and hopefully have this behind me. I just don't understand how a company like this can fraudulently place charges like this, randomly on someone's account. They had my name, address, email account and everything! What they didn't have was my permission or my knowledge to authorize the charges they placed on my account. I also don't understand how my telephone company can allow this to happen. When I call them I have to give my account number, and the last four digits of my social for them to speak to me, yet a company like this can waltz in and charge me money like this! Ridiculous!
