Ripping off my Checking Account
I was owed $78, 000.00 for over 5 years.
Finally, it was paid into MY password protected account, but I did not know it had been put in.
11 days later it was removed by the person who owed it, from MY account.
My account is password protected. It only has MY name on it. It was ear-marked for identity theft.
NFCU allowed the person who finally paid me to take it back out!
I spent 60K with lawyers and lost.
NFCU needs to be held responsible for stealing my money!
I have a letter from Sheila Albin, NCU Assoc General Counsel who said it IS legal! How can this be?
I hope NFCU is one of the banks that dry up for its unscrupulous behavior!!!
My account shows the money in and the money out! I have court papers saying it was owed me.
However, I ran out of money to fight for it. My lawyers could not compete with Nevada lawyers who were actually being indicted for income tax fraud while it was going on!
I am at poverty level.
NFCU should be held responsible for robbing my account of money put in.
It is like when a renter deposits into landlord's account rent money.
Renter may not remove said money eleven days later and say it is in the "wrong account" or everyone would do this with their bills!!!
Where should I turn? I have all the NFCU phone calls on my cell phone since last October! I want these people to own up!

Rip-off!
Navy Federal Credit Union pulled a classic bait and switch on me. When I applied for the loan, the rate was quoted to me as 5.875%. Then they bumbled along taking their time on the approval, all the while rates were going up and up. By the time I could lock in, I had to pay a full 0.5% more. Then to make matters worse, just before closing, the rates went back down to the 5.875% they originally quoted me. I called and complained, but they wouldn't even fix it for me.

Scam and cheating
I have my account closed by NFCU when learned I filed a bankruptcy against them. My account is where my paycheck goes twice in a month and I need that account to pay my bill, buy food for my wife and two daughters, withdraw cash from ATM's and to pay some other expenses. Now that my account is closed I don't know what to do to all of these personal business.

Bad customer service
I received several phone calls on my cell phone today and yesterday from employees of Navy Federal Credit Union in reference to a credit application. Each time, I stated that they have the wrong number and that I would like them to remove my number from their system and do not want them to call again. After I inquired how they got my cell phone number, the callers informed me that someone provided my cell phone number as a contact number on an application. The name they gave me is actually someone who works for the same company where I work but there should be absolutely no reason that my cell phone number would be provided as that person's contact number. I have had to explain this to five (5) different callers today alone. I asked two (2) of them to let me speak to a supervisor or manager and both became very argumentative and refused to transfer me, citing reasons such as "there is no need for you to speak to a supervisor" (caller's name 'Lynette', around 2:30 pm today) or "you're not even a customer." The last caller around 5:20 pm today even hung up on me after refusing to transfer my call to a supervisor. Several of the callers explained that the number was deleted but will not be out of the system until midnight tonight and that I would keep getting calls until then. Translation: I am still receiving calls from them on my cell phone while I am at work, about every hour now. As I am typing this, I received another call form them, called back their 800-number and the operator hung up on me as well after I asked for a supervisor.

Harassment
I have been a member with Navy Federal Credit Union for years paying all my bills on time every time until February 2008 when I unexpectedly lost my job in the financial services sector due to the changing economy. I then resumed work in April 2008 at a much lower income which put me in a situation where I no longer could pay my bills. Out of all my creditors, NFCU is the only one I have had issues with and the only one who has repeatedly and uncaringly violated multiple sections of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act. I will say that although their collections and customer service reps were rude and uncaring, that the one Personal Financial Management rep I spoke with and wrote too was very professional even though she was not able to help me. I will include my emails to this personal finance manager at Navy Federal Credit Union below that express the issues I have had with the company.

Hi **(Navy Federal PFM),

Sorry, I have very limited time during the day to call back. Do you have the 80 month 0% interest program like Bank of America? I owed over $20, 000 to Bank of America and they just put me on a 0%, 80 month repayment plan where they take $250 out of my checking account on the 16th of each month from now on. Since my income is minimal, this works because they get their money back, I can still eat at least one meal a day, and it is a better plan than going through court, getting a judgment, then getting a maximum 10% wage garnishment on a job I have been at 3 months. If you close and combine both the line of credit and the credit card, you should be at $30, 000. With the 0%, 80 month program, that is a monthly payment of $375 which I can still manage. Is this possible? If so, I can get you the routing and account number to my checking account which you may take $375 monthly from on the 16th of every month. Please let me know by email or by phone. I talked to the NFCU collections people about this every time they call and they still have not called back with an answer.
Best Regards,
Ross ******

Hi **,

Since you are in a management position and I want to work with NFCU to resolve my balances, you might want to be aware that Navy Federal Credit Union collections agents have violated these sections of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act just in communications with me and other people that I know:

Section 805-a1
Section 804-2
Section 804-3

I have included a PDF copy of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act for you to match the corresponding codes to the booklet. I have specific examples if you need them with dates and times recorded on cell phones and phone bills, testimony from specific individuals, etc.

Best Regards,
Ross ******

Hi **,

I received your message. Thank you. I cannot afford a payment of $403 a month. I received a small raise which only adds about $22 net to each of my paychecks. I cannot believe that Bank of America has better repayment programs than Navy Federal Credit Union. If the payment cannot be reduced to $375 per month combined, there is nothing I can do. I just don't make enough money anymore. I don't think I even qualify for these programs since I am virtually making the same amount of money as when we started trying to work things out.

On another topic, Amy from Navy Federal Credit Union keeps violating the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act. She just called my girlfriend again about my debts after she requested to not be called 2 weeks ago. They have also called my mother about my debts. Both are at different addresses and different phone numbers. I have not spoken with my mother or lived at that address for ten plus years and this has now caused her to call me and have even further damaged relationships with my family. I lose my job after paying on time every time for years and I am treated like garbage for something I can't control. NFCU is the ONLY creditor who has not granted me the 0%, 80 month repayment program. Below are the sections of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act that have been violated. I am keeping a record of each offense with estimated damages. All I am asking is that NFCU abide by the hours and terms of the law when contacting me. You have been nothing but professional and courteous when speaking with me and I appreciate it. I can't say nearly as much about the collections department.

I have never given consent to call my mother or my girlfriend and this is now causing un-repairable damages to both relationships.

"COMMUNICATION WITH THIRD PARTIES. Except as provided in section 804, without the prior consent of the consumer given directly to the debt collector, or the express permission of a court of competent jurisdiction, or as reasonably necessary to effectuate a post judgment judicial remedy, a debt collector may not communicate, in connection with the collection of any debt, with any person other than a consumer, his attorney, a consumer reporting agency if otherwise permitted by law, the creditor, the attorney of the creditor, or the attorney of the debt collector."

My girlfriend has complained about numerous calls per day to her cell phone about my debts (she is not a NFCU member and has no credit cards) and when she asks them to not contact her, they argue with her! They also continue to call her the wrong name even when she corrects them. This has caused un-repairable damages to this relationship.

"(5) Causing a telephone to ring or engaging any person in telephone conversation repeatedly or continuously with intent to annoy, abuse, or harass any person at the called number."

Best Regards,
Ross *****.

Don't ever do business with them
They were a good company 30 years ago, but certainly NOT now. Their personnel now are rude and hateful when you call asking about your account.

After all the usual, "making sure you're the right person", they have cut me off, re-routed me to another person, and cut me off again. You have to go through an ungodly amount of menus to get back to the right dept...Just to be cut off again.

I even had one person say to me, "You're taking up someone else's phone time" when I asked about my account.

I agree...DON'T EVER DO BUSINESS WITH THEM. We quit them after over 30 years and are glad we did.

Lost title
My husband and I purchased a vehicle from a private seller who had a lien on the vehicle through NFCU. After we purchased the vehicle from him, he went down to the local office here in Beaufort, to pay off the lien. NFCU assured him the title would be mailed out within 2 business days regular mail. It has been over 3 weeks, and no sign of the title. I have spoken with the loan department, who cannot release any information to me, as it was not our auto loan. When the seller of the car contacts Navy Fed, he is instructed to have us contact the bank.

I am endlessly disgusted with how this has been handled.

Bad manners in which they treat their customers
I would like to file a formal complaint against a branch of Navy Federal Credit Union. The bank manager assured me that she would return my call with information regarding a complaint I had made. She did not call me back and so several hours later I called, again on hold for over 30 minutes, and she had left for the day...again, most unprofessional. I then asked the secretary for the number and address to the corporate office. I was given a number and the address. The lady whom I spoke with informed me that she was giving me the number to the corporate office, and actually what she gave me was the number to the main line. Then I called, again on hold, and spoke with a Barry McKnight who informed me that there is no way to transfer me to the corporate office. His exact words are as follows: members cannot be transferred to the corporate office" and "there's definitely there's no way for you guys to talk to the president" and only offered to transfer me to the supervisor. I then hung up. This is the most perfect example of piss poor customer service. This company most assuredly is not living up to it's own code of ethics and certainly does not deserve any award for excellency. I think someone in this company should pay more attention to the manner in which they treat their customers.
