Service/Ripoff
This past weekend I, along with a group of 18, traveled on the Norwegian Sky out of Miami FL. We departed on Friday August 28th, and returned August 1st. My name is Christopher Evans and my reservation number was 17072970, the reservations were booked through Casino House (35144).
I personally have not traveled with NCL, however a few members of our group had and raved about the experience. I am not sure what happened on this particular voyage, but this was not the relaxing, fantastic trip I had planned. Upon arriving on the ship I immediately went to the Spa to book a massage for my girlfriend and I. We were told that a couples massage would be $269 total and since we were booking it on the first day we would also receive a 10% discount. We booked this for Sunday evening at 5:45. This was sold to us as a 50 minute massage, what we received was a 35 minute massage, and a 15 minute sales presentation pressuring us to buy another $200 of massage products. We refused and this quite obviously infuriated the sales staff. This was completely inappropriate, In addition to this, upon looking at our receipt we were charged $175 individually for a total of over $350. After trying to explain the situation to the Spa Manager numerous times, she very rudely informed us that she would give us the 10% discount but that’s all she was willing to do. So when all was said and done I paid over $100 more than originally promised for 2/3rds of the massage we were expecting.
I spent well over $2000 on this 2 day trip for my girlfriend and I alone, not to mention the numerous thousands of dollars the rest of our group of 18 spent on your ship. The hundred dollars does not bother me, it’s the fact that I was lied to and ripped off.

Another issue our group had on this ship was the service. Friday evening all 18 of us ate separately at the Italian restaurant on the ship (please note that this was not one of the free restaurants). At the end of the meal all 4 of our tables had a long discussion of how bad the service was. We all felt as though we were inconveniencing your wait staff anytime we asked for something. This was the same Experience we had at the Casino. Particularly a young dealer named Raquel. It was blatantly obvious that she did not like her job and was absolutely depressing to be around. She was rude, unhelpful, and had a scowl on her face at any given time. Please take into consideration that we booked this trip through Casino House and on a 2 and half day cruise we spent on average 9-11 hours in the casino. This would have been much more if we didn’t get up every time she came to our table.
I am usually not one to write letters, but I felt this needed to be said. In our current economic condition for people to spend this kind of money and get treated the way we did is appalling, I reside in Miami, I am 27 years old and for the past few years have gone on at least 2 cruises annually. If this happened on a weekend getaway, how would I be expected to sail with NCL on a week long vacation? It will be very difficult for me to sail NCL again not to mention, recommend that others do. There were a few smiling faces on the ship, one casino dealer in particular, I believe his name was Andre, as well as most of the bartenders. If we do sail NCL again it will be because of these people.
