NCO Financial Reviews

Simply awful
I have a HUGE situation about NCO Financial. i am in the Army, and they offer to pay 100% of tuition using the EAP. i went to school from 2000 - 2001, and eap paid the school directly. at the time, the school was actually getting paid an overage of $187 a quarter, which went to my books and supplies (still no out of pocket expenses) turns out that AES got involved somewhere along the way, saying that i owe the full amount of the tuition in student loans, totalling $12, 000. i said whoa whoa, the army is supposed to pay this, and i didn't even know anything about me having student loans in the first place, so i kept referring queries about this to the Army. after a few years, i get a phone call from the lovable Bob Neil from... come to think of it, he never told me where he was from, until i called back and heard 'NCO Financial' i was clueless. Still, i had no clue what the heck NCO Finalcial was... anyways, this guy is super rude to me, spouting on and on about what he can do to me to make my life miserable, that he took my income tax refunds, and that he is about to garnish 100% of my wages. i told him you cannot to that, he said that according to some new law passed 2 months ago, he could. i asked what the website is with this new law, he avoided answering me, and instead kept threatening me. he would ask a question and when i would try to answer he would just keep talking rudely. he told me that we could setup a credit recovery thing or whatever and if i make payments until the EAP thing gets straightened out with the school, they wouold totally refund all moneys they took from me 100%. in my own stupidity i agreed, so i gave them my account info. they took out 200$ the day they said they would, then i get a call 3 days later from the tool mr neil saying my check bounced. i asked him 'what check' and said you guys took the money out. he told me that he has a slip from my bank stating 'innsufficient funds' which was B.S., because the funds were there the whole time. this a-hole told me that i had toll 8pm that nite to get someone to give me their credit card info to pay this 'again' or he would take all my paychecks. i refused, and he said 'ohhhh you'll be sorry. what can be done about this? feel free to email me anytime.

Atempting to collect on a paid off credit card
MCO FINANCIAL has called me at my home claiming they are collecting for an unpaid CHASE bill. My CHASE account is paid off and there is a '$0.00' balance due. I have recieved NO bills from CHASE, my last bill dated May, states that my account balance due is '$0.00. I called CHASE and re-affirmed that my account is as I stated.

Unauthorized debits from account
I have been paying a debt with NCO for about 2 years. I made a settlement with a gentleman and then everytime i call back for something i have to reiterate everytime who gave me that settlement. Well i decided to setup monthly withdrawals from my account to pay for the debt which they were suppose to debt twice a month on the days i indicated.

These people are notorious for taking the money out when it is not suppose to and then acting like it is my fault. They have cost me over a $100 in NSF fees.
Be aware, if they demand a monthly withdrawal every month, you better make sure there is money in there to cover the next payment to. Otherwise they will get you when you are not paying attention.

Unauthorized charges
NCO Financial took over the servicing of two student loans when one of three co-signers filed chapter 13 bankruptcy, Note: the payments were still being made on-time by one of the other co-signers. Needless to say, NCO Financial representatives began calling constantly and the company continued to mail statements with a new fee called 'Other Charges.'

The total of these 'Other Charges' are now over $1200.00 and we are filing a lawsuit against the company for several reasons. 1) NCO Financial added the 'Other Charges' to the account and have refused to explain why, in writing, and continue to charge this fee. 2) Even though the previous lender, EDUCAP, Inc, said they could have the 'Other Charges' removed if NCO would put in writing what the NCO representative said over the phone, NCO continues to refuse to put their comments in writing. 3) EDUCAP, Inc, the original lender, did not charge this extra fee and it was added by NCO, when NCO took over the account. 4) The payments have always been paid on-time!!! even though one of the co-signers filed CH 13 bankruptcy!

NCO Financial is the worst company we've EVER had to deal with!!!

Calling me to get at a family member
NCO Financial called me at work (at work!) wanting me to pass along a message to a family member who had been turned over to them. I orded them to never ever call me again, and especially not at work. However, I used my cell phone to return the call. Today they called my cell phone. I have had it! I have an excellent credit score, and yet they are harassing me with the hope that I will harass a family member. Is that even legal? Can a company really call me and harass me in order to get at a family member (not a spouse, mind you) . . . I called my brother and found out that he too has been harassed by NCO Financial with the same request to have our family member call NCO Financial. This is beyond ridiculous! Both my brother and I have very good credit scores and should not be getting called by a collection agency. NCO apparently has no boundaries, and, based on what I have read online that led me to this complaint forum, no regard for the law.

Fraudulent charge
I did not fill in the location of NCO Financial because I don't know where they are. I received a phone call last week about a $100 debt I owed them from AT&T. I have never received a bill for this from NCO. The lady asked me a lot of intrusive questions, like why it hasn't been paid, my current address ect. I did tell her that my husband was out of work and had been for almost a year. Then she asked if I filed my taxes, which is none of her business. She said the she would call everyday until this was resolved but I insisted that she send a bill with all the information. I still haven't received a bill. I also called a company called credit dusters to check my credit and help repair it a little. I told the guy there about the phone call. He said he didn't care if I paid it or not since they once called him about a debt and constantly harassed him. Then I found all the complaints on this site - about 650? How many complaints have to filed before someone buries this company?

Unsolicited phone calls
Do not take calls from NCO Financial. They find your personal information by using unauthorized credit inquires. Once they have a number for you, they will call you multiple times per day. I made the mistake of talking to them one time, the rep kept asking me for my ssn. I told here that I would not give that information out over the phone.

She got very angry and then had her supervisor on the phone. The supervisor was very belittling to me and did everything she could to get my ssn and other personal information from me. She was very rude. I took their website information. The supervisor told me that I had to put in a bunch of information they gave me to look at why they needed all my personal information.

After finally hanging up (I was tired of the abuse) I checked out the site. Again they wanted me to put in all this personal information to view what the call was all about. Luckily I did not give them any information over the phone or on the net. The supervisor called me back 15 minutes after we ended the original phone call and asked if I had gone to the site.

I told her that I had but I refused to put in any personal information. Needless to say, the phone call went downhill from there and I ended up hanging up on her. That was 6 months ago. Since then everyday I receive 1-5 calls per day from NCO. About 1 out of every 6 calls they leave a computer generated message. I now have 3 different phone numbers that they use. I have done much research on them and their practices.

I wish that once the calls had started I had logged every one. I am now keeping a log of every contact and every message they leave. I am not sure how many calls it takes to be considered harassment but I figure if I keep the log up I will not have a problem with reporting them to the FTC.

I also just found out that they have found me by unauthorized credit inquires and will take action with the 3 credit reporting agencies to ensure that they never can pull my report again. Never give them funds. Do your homework. They get your money and keep it. It does not go to the company you owe. It will not show as a settled account on your report if you pay them.

They leave a Ref. # which is # 24230332. They don't leave a name who or whom they are looking for. I just wish they would stop with the calling. They also call all hours of the day and night. They also leave there 1-800 number which is 1-800-758-1426. Please somebody tell them to STOP CALLING MY HOUSE! Thanks for hearing me out. AJ

repeated billing on paid off accounts
Although nco has been furnished several times with a payoff letter from title company on 3 accounts, nco continues to send me collection notices for these paid off accounts.

Collections on debt that is not owed
We traded in our Surburban in December 5, 2007. We made our original monthly payment but then went to the dealership and found another vehicle we wanted to buy so we traded in the Surburban. The dealership PAID OFF the Surburban and we were told to stop payment on the check so we did because GMAC would have gotten a double payment.

It is now September 15, 2008 and we received a letter from NCO financial that we now owe this payment for the vehicle that we were told to stop payment on. We immediately called GMAC and asked what was going on. They told us the account was PIF and there was nothing to worry about and they sent us letter to send to NCO so they would clear my name and stop with all correspondence.

To date they have harrassed my wife with several rude calls during the day saying they will not "listen to long winded stories because they have bigger and better fish to fry".

We have filed complaints with BBB in PA, Attorney General in our home state and the Federal Trade Commission.

They have put this debt on my credit bureau which dropped my beacon score immencely and they will have it repaired as soon as I am finished. I will fight until the end my friend.

This is a debt I do not owe. I have all the letters and documentation to back up my end of the story. I will be filling a complaint the the three credit bureaus on my next agendas.
