I was traveling to NC from IL, and I broke down on the interstate near Kuttawa KY on the side of the road. A nice girl from the area stoped and called a tow truck for me. The tow guy was very nice, and he took me & the car to this Neel Services Auto Repair, 80 Lakeshore Drive, Kuttawa, KY 42055, (270)-388-0060 and told me the guy Mike, was a very good guy and he worked on all the police cars, and stuff in that area. So I left the car there for him to ck out, and at the time, I new that it had lost a main belt, but didn't know what else was wrong. Mike told me that he would ck it out in the morning and for me to call him at 9:00am. I asked him if he thought he could get a belt for it, and he said he probably had one in stock, but he really needed to look and see what else was wrong with the car. So I got the tow driver to take me up the road to the nearest hotel, and I spent the night while waiting to find out what else was wrong with the car. Well I called the shop that morning, and Mike told me that he's put the belt on and put some anti freeze in it, and ran it to see what would happen, then he said the water pump had quit and froze up and when it did, it caused the car to over heat and blow the head gaskets, and various other things. I asked him what I owed him for the belt, and thats when he told me $75.00! So, I was trying to find out if I could rent a car, and still go to NC, because I had everything I own in the broke down car, my Mom who actually owns the car, wanted to find out if it was worth fixing or should she just junk it! I asked Mike what he thought, he told me, he thought it "wouldn't" be worth fixing, I told him he would have to talk to my Mom about that, they Mike & his wife, whose name I can't remember, told my mom to send them the title and they would junk the car, they offered her no money at all, they just wanted the car for nothing, and I having worked in Auto Salvage for over 20 plus years, knew the car was worth way more than just NOTHING just because it is emaculate, been garage kept, had $500.00 worth of brand new tires that we had put on just two days before this, no body dammage or rust at all, and the engine was so clean you could eat off it, so my Mom told him no way was she just going to GIVE him the car for free! Well, we got a friend of ours to come and get me and the car and tow it back to IL, and when I went in to pay the man, he takes my $75.00, gives me some kind of generic reciept, and then promptly tells me he took the belt off the car! Well he already had my money & I was just totally shocked that he had led me to believe I was paying for the belt! So, anyway we get the car back, and my mom's local mechanic comes to get the car, and he opens the hood, and darn to find out, the guy Mike at the garage, had STOLEN PARTS off the car, he had taken the overflow bottle, and various other parts off the car while he had it! Well my Mom and I didn't find this out till about 5 days after we had the car back home, and since he was out of state, we couldn't call the attny general because we live in IL and he was in KY, so I would like for anyone who may end up in or around Kuttawa KY, and need help with a car, DO NOT GO TO NEEL SERVICES AUTO REPAIR BECAUSE THEY WILL RIP YOU OFF, TELL YOU LIES, AND STEAL PARTS OFF YOUR CAR!!! I only wish I had a better way to broadcast this all over the net, and any place else I can think of, because goodness knows how many other unfortunate folks have fell victom to this CROOK! He wanted to get the car bad, and was trying to and willing to do anything he could to do it! People like that just burn me up, they see a woman and think automaticly that we don't know anything about cars, and they take us to the cleaners! If I hadn't worked in salvage, and it would have been my 77 year ol mom dealing with this crooked thief, she wouldn't have known, and probably let the guy get away with it!
