Fraud
There's was a few unauthorized charges to my account
called netspend they stated it would take 90 days but
my credit cared that was used will be closed two months after I filed the first dispute another company iwth an unauthorixed transaction charged my old card that was cancelled mind you I already received the new card in the mail when I called all they said was that they will file another dispute and they did acknowledge it was there fault but did not want to help
Stay away stay away im not the only that this has happpened to!!! stay away they are crooks

Holding My Funds/Stealing My Money
I am a recent Netspend customer and I'm very unhappy with the service I've received. I am a filmmaker who recently received an inheritance from a relative in Los Angeles. I've been bi-coastal (Los Angeles/New York) for awhile and have had a savings account at a credit union in NYC until last year. When I received the inheritance I decided to hold off on opening a bank account until I finished the work on my film, which has required me to come to New Orleans. I dealt with the Los Angeles bank that issued the inheritance and put parts of that on my Netspend card.

I have recently had a dispute with Paypal regarding transferring funds from Netspend to my Paypal account. I have been a Paypal customer for about 7 years and have had regular bank accounts, credit cards, debit cards and pre-paid cards attached to my account. Never have I been told by them that I can't transfer money from a pre-paid card to my Paypal account. I recently tried to transfer $7, 000 from my Netspend account to my Paypal account but the transfer didn't go through because Thrifty Car Rental here in New Orleans ran my card for triple the amount they initially told me my car rental would be, which meant my $7, 000 transfer to Paypal was not going to go through. I tried to cancel the $7, 000 transaction to Paypal but they don't have that option on the site, so I tried to resubmit a transfer for $6, 000, which I knew would go through. They have since limited my Paypal account and have been incredibly unprofessional. They went ahead and processed the $6, 000 when they weren't supposed to since my account was limited. Per Netspend's Dispute Department, I have submitted a form saying Paypal wasn't authorized to do that and that $6, 000 should be returned to my Netspend account. That form was submitted to Netspend on Monday, May 9, 2011.

I called Netspend yesterday, Friday, May 13, 2011, to follow up with Netspend's Dispute Department and spoke with Douglas (Agent#1782) to find out when that money would be returned to me by the 23rd, if I received it back! When I asked him what he meant by resolution, he said they were "investigating" the transaction and I might now receive my money back depending on my transaction with Paypal. Paypal has informed me that they sent my money back to Netspend on May 10, 2011. So, where's my money?

Withdrawl of money Fee Scam
I have been a Netspend customer for 3+ years. I choose to come to them due to the ease of using the cards and the minimum fees. I went into an ACE location yesterday to withdrawal money for my rent total $1200, I was told that there was a new rule in place and they now charge to withdrawal money after the first $300. This immediately alarmed me because I have not received an email, mail or text notification with any of this information. Although I did receive an email notification of their new elite program, I found this extremely odd. I asked why did they not inform their customers his response was that it was posted on their website. I said well this does not justify sufficient notification, many people don't have regular access to a computer, and furthermore why go online if you can send a text to them for your balance? The ACE employee of course could not answer. I then asked what the fee was he said 2% of the withdrawal - I WAS IRATE AT THIS POINT. TWO PERCENT OF THE $1200 AFTER THE INITIAL $300 (i WAS CHARGED ON THE $900) TOTAL FEE $18!!! I am still pissed off - what a rip off. I told him they are only doing this because income tax is coming and people are going to be pulling of large amounts - if you have $5000 being pulled out after the $300 they don't charge for that is $94 - that is a lot of money. I was thinking what if all I had was the EXACT amount I needed for my rent then I would have been short because of Netspends horrible business practices. At minimum they should notify consumers at least 1 month ahead. He said they try to compensate by the lower $5 fee vs the $9.99 fee - there is no comparassion - they are trying to get over because they feel that most people that have this card needs it because they can't get a bank account. I chose to get this card because of the ease of use and no hassles with the bank. I make between $3200 - $3500 a month I am not trying to throw money away by paying ridiculous fees to access money when I need it. It's not even reasonable withdrawal limit. Most banks allow $500 minimum withdrawal limit without any additional steps. I am outraged and will be closing my account before my next direct deposit. I refused to be taken by this monster of a company. This is truly a scam! I will be checking to see if they broke any laws by not providing sufficient notice of their changes. If they did I will be reporting them to every appropriate agency.

Scam gift cards
The gift cards are a scam. Erroneous charges were added to the gift card, tried to dispute and never got a response from Customer service. I was advised to go on the internet to file a complaint and the website didnt work... Lost money with this company... Try not to purchase the gift cards, they are worthless.

NetSpend is so messed up!
First of all let me start off by saying that I have NEVER encountered a pleasurable conversation or even close to being acceptable for that matter. The customer service reps are FEARLESS in how they treat you OMG!!

There has only been one time that I ever spoke to someone who spoke fluent english and all the rest can barely speak a lick of it first n foremost. Call for yourselves just for shits n giggles just to see what I am talking about.

Oh wait, you cant speak to a human unless you are a card holder, I forgot. So this means if you are a potential customer with questions and these questions cannot be answered by the place where the card was purchased (because these places always say "call NETSPEND") and if your questions cannot be answered on their little questionnaire "Q&A" then you most likely will call them but you will run into a problem because the robot asks for your "card number" and if you don't punch it in, you don't speak to anyone!! Thats right!!

Now, lets just say that your card has been stolen, u must know ALL 16 numbers to that particular card memorized or they will not speak to you regarding this!!! OMFG!! They INSIST that you give your 16 digit card number at the beginning of the call no matter what the call is concerning!!! Questions!! Comments!! Do not matter!!

If you are not a card member guess how NETSPEND claims they need to "identify the caller" folks? You guessed wrong!!! They ask for your SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBER folks!!! YES, thats right!! YOUR SSN!!! And your not even a card holder!!! How do I know this? Because I had some associates that had some questions and I was unable to answer them so I called NETSPEND for them on a 3-way and we went through hell trying to get their questions answered.

I didn't feel like getting up out the bed to get my purse downstairs to get my freaking card so I can punch those digits in just so their questions could be answered but everytime we punched the option to speak with a live operator, it demands on a card number so naturally I thought to myself "what if my card was stolen" how would I get a live person? We finally got a live person AFTER I got my card and AFTER about 25 mins of being on hold. Amazing.

Anyways, as my friends had tried to ask their questions the rep asked for their card number and when they said they weren't customers as of yet, the rep asked for their SSN and it would ONLY be used as a "one time" identification purpose. WE WERE FLABBERGASTED!!!

By the time I spoke to a supervisor they hung up and I spoke to Erwin-00743 ext-5515 (I am willing to bet this isn't his name or his REAL ext or employee ID number) he was so rude and deflected any responsibility off NETSPEND and totally defended these other REPS by saying that he was sure that the reason they were asked for their SSN was so they could pull up "their account" even though I repeated told him that they were not members. He then kept saying "Well if there isn't anything else maam, I'm going to have to end this call".

Erwin had an excuse and explanation for everything and borderlined called me a liar in the beginning by saying he doubted this and that about not being able to get through without punching in the card number and then also sort of called me a liar by saying he doubted the sh*t about the SSN even though he managed to come up with what he thought would be a acceptable reason for the REPS asking for their SSN.

This company is unethical. They are unprofessional & rude. And in my opinion alot of them are just plain old stupid. I mean dumb. Uneducated. Under achievers. Losers. Bums.

I am pulling everything off that little card and maying my exit. GOODBYE NETSPEND.
