DO NOT BOOK them !!!
Booking this company for moving my 1 bedroom just up the street was a DISASTER. I suspected that the quote they gave me was too good to be true. And I was right. I guess you get what you paid for.
I booked about 5 weeks in advance. Yet the movers were 6 hours late! I was waiting for them at 9 am, as agreed with someone from the company named Mayra. I had to call numerous times - the representative that I booked with, the dispatcher, another customer service rep... All I got was attutide and "we are doing our best to get to you." They told me that the movers' truck got in an accident. After calling 6 or 7 times I finally got them to come at 3 pm.
The building that I was moving into has a strict policy - "no moving after 5 pm." And the company knew that in advance. I told them that I'd rather not start the moving process and reschedule. But they reassured me that we will be in by 5 pm. I was told that I needed to pay them an extra $150 if we rescheduled for the next day. I tried telling them that I originally asked for them to come at 9 am., but that was no use.
It took them about 50 minutes to get everything on their truck. I was then asked to pay over $1000 before they proceed ?! And my quote was for $430. Of course I refused to pay $50 to "rent" each used, ripped blanket that they used to cover my 5 pieces of furniture. I was asked to pay $100 for a box for my 32 inch. What a RIP OFF! I was told that if I don't pay, my things will be taken (read: stolen) to a storage until I reimburse them. When I called the police I had to listen to their manager screaming to me on the phone for 15 minutes. They also wanted to charge me for "extra walking" to the elevator. It was something like $5 per foot, per person. OUTRAGEOUS! Finally when the police said they were coming, th emovers left with our things. My new building was a 2-3 minute local drive away. But it took the movers 40 minutes to get there. Our scandal last 3 days and I ended up paying over $900.

They are horrible
Pls... Don't never ever trust these guys . They charged me total of $1, 700.00 for moving . These guys are completely non proffessional. On top of that if you ask them the reason for sudden change in total amount . They will blackmail you holding any of your expensive products until you pay the amount . They didn't even fix all the furniture . These guys are really sick . I am writing this review immediately after the move . Guys please don't trust them. I am wondering of there is any way to teach them a lesson legally.

DIdnt show up
They are absolutely terrible. They double booked on us and ddint show up for the moving until after 2 hrs and when we called them they just bluntly said that they will not be able to come. The Customer representative Venessa used abusive language when we started asking them why they cannot make it on time and even used phrases such as " SO full of Sh@t"
They did not offer to reimburse or workout an alternative with us. Due the very last minute cancellation we were unable to find any other movers and had to move by ourselves. Also when we ask for insurance they said they could not give it us for the next 3 days ( stupid reasons)
We lost the reserved elevator and had to pay 500$ extra to the condo we were moving in in order to move after hours.
In the end it was very stressful experience and I am really upset by the way they handled the situation. Please do not use New world movers for your moving needs...they need to learn more about professionalism and courteousness and sense of responsibility . I am not even sure how they are still about running their business in such a nasty manner

Scam
DO NOT MOVE WITH THIS FRAUDULENT COMPANY.
1) They flat out lie to you about costs(even if they give you things in writing) and then try to rip you off on the day of the move.
New World charged us nearly $1700 in extra fees that they did not tell us about - before even moving a thing. We told the girl in the office(her name was Kim, do not trust anything she says) all the specifics of our move...flights of stairs involved, layout of the places, items to be moved, etc. We were repeatedly promised that the estimate of $70/hr included everything except packing supplies. We even had these promises in writing. On the day of the move when the movers got there they told us that they would charge us $225 for each flight of stairs in our move. We had 4 total flights, so that was $900 in extra fees right of the bat.(we had expected to spend $500-$600 total).
We also told New World that we would have to make 2 additional stops because we had to drop a couple of items off at my wife's mother's house and dad's house. Both these stops were very close to our new home and involved only a couple items that had to be dropped off on the front porch. We were specifically told there was no additional charge for these stops - apart from the extra time it might take. On the day the movers got there they told us each stop would be $250, for an extra $500 in ripoff fees.
Furthermore, we were specifically told that moving blankets would be provided free of charge(we had this promise in writing). On the day of the move we were told each moving blanket would cost $6, and that they would need to use about 50 of them total - an extra $300 in ripoff.
2) They will not move your furniture without using their own packaging supplies - supplies that are marked up 30x-50x what they would cost you to buy them yourself.
We packed all our items and wrapped any items that would need to be protected - but New World would not move them without using their own supplies. We were trying to make things go as quickly as possible to keep our costs down. For example, we packed the TV in bubble wrap and boxed it. When the movers got there they told us they would not move the TV without packaging it in their own supplies. Their box cost $50; the box we bought at Home Depot was the same size and cost us 97 cents. Bubble wrap and tape cost between $40-$100/roll.
In short, this company preys on innocent people. They get them on the day of their move, when the customer has no bargaining power(b/c all the belongings are in boxes and they need to be out of their apartment on that day), and they try to rip them off. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. YOU WILL BE SORRY IF YOU DO.

scam
These guys are classic scam artists. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. They will load all your stuff on their truck and then demand thousands of dollars in cash. I'm sure they will be out of business soon. Dishonesty does not pay.

Movers Nightmare
I scheduled moving service with this company approximately a week and a half before my scheduled move date of 9/27/08. Brandon who was very helpful provided me an arrival time of 8am - 9am. I had everything packed and ready to go by 7:30am. At around 9am I began to get worried. No phone call no movers. I called the 201 number I had in my caller ID because my laptop was packed and I had no access to obtain the toll free number. When they answered I asked to speak to Brandon and was told he wasn't in today. I relayed the reason for my call and Adam, they person to whom I was speaking, said let me get to the office and check with dispatch and make sure you are on the schedule and I will call you back. I said ok and hung up. Approximately two hours later I had still not heard back from Adam. I then called the 201 number again. No Answer. I called back approximately 15 times throughout the day and still no answer. Basically they left me out to dry. I think if you decide to run a business you should run it properly. When dealing with people who are moving it is an extremely stressful situation to begin with regardless of reason and to have some add to this stress that you rely on to relieve some of it is very disappointing. I would not refer this company to anyone looking to move, they are unreliable, inconsiderate, and very unprofessional.

Scam and theft
NEW WORLD Movers - SCAM!!! Do not use this company. I got a quote for $595. Extremely proximate move of apartments (not too much stuff). I even told them I had stairs and there was a walkway (which $300 was later tacked on for). The movers did OK, but as they were moving (they arrived 2 hours late), one of them rushed me through paperwork to sign without explaining it and I never recieved copies of the paperwork. I was already all packed up with my wn materials and thought I would be all set. i also had extra boxes, bubble wrap and packing tape, all unused.
So the movers used $140 blankets they reuse on every customer, wrap my furniture like mummies with $4 rolls of tape (various half used rolls of tape discarded everywhere). They used a $250 carton (a cardboard box to move a $200 dining room table). my girlfriend asked them to take the CPU printer and they put it in a bigger box, which costs $20. Somehow an extra 2 hours of driving time was tacked on. They broke an overhead light and tried to hide it also.
So they pulled the typical stop work with my stuff and held me hostage for $2100. I just paid 2 months rent so my account was spent. i had to go to the bank and move money around a bunch of accounts to get my stuff.
But I am powerless because I signed the paperwork although it is very unfair. I have planned the move for months based on this moving company. I had to vacate my apartment and be in my new one. I had no choice, the movers were late, adding to the urgency. They never gave me copies of the PW either which I dont think is legal.
