I found an ad on the Plum website (www.plum.co.za) for a Nokia N900. I contacted the individual, Mr Greg Phil, to get more information about their company as well as the condition of the phone. He supplied me with their company address and registration number, and told me that they have a promotion on where I could buy two phones and get the third one free.
After doing a bit of investigating I discovered that the company registration number Mr Greg Phil supplied me with belonged to a company called BETHSHAN SHELTERED HOUSING ASSOCIATION. I questioned him about this and he claimed that they operated under this company. He also mentioned that he was on business in Lagos, Nigeria at the time, and when I do the money transfer I should put Lagos, Nigeria as the address This is when I started having doubts about the deal. I then asked him call off everything but he wouldn't take no for an answer. He swore that they were legit and even sent me his secretary's number in the UK. He also claimed that he recently had a client in Johannesburg who ordered twenty cell phones from him.
We later reached a deal that I only sent him R800 ($100) and once I receive the phones I can transfer the balance, but after I transferred the cash he went back on his word. I received a call from his so called secretary, Mrs Smith Okoma, who was extremely rude and demanded that I transfer that rest of the money. I refused to continue with this charade and demanded my money back, but they refused. They started calling me every hour and demanded that I pay the rest of the money. Yesterday Mrs Okoma called me and said that I should pay them $5000 and they would send me 35 phones.
My purpose here is to make everyone aware of these crooks.
