Nicor Gas Bill
I got my bill this month for $1485.00. What the F@$k! I had to wait the weekend and called early Monday, to find out that they had been billing me estimate amounts all year. Yeah, right that’s a bunch of bull! Back in March they billed me $485.00 and I call and got the same excuse from them. I asked them to have someone come out again and read the meter. So they did and I paid. You would think I am up to date at that point. But this time its bull shit! There is no way I could have used that much gas during the summer months. I don’t have a heated pool as the guy (john) I spoke with asked. My house is too small! After asking him several times how I go from using 538.8 therms used to 15.5 therms the next month? He of course couldn’t answer and only said "this bill is correct, do you want to set up a payment plan?" After asking him to transfer me to someone else and he refused I had to hang up and call back to speak to another rep. She is having someone look into this for me. We will see what happens!

Billing
In late May of 2008, I paid a gas bill of $1700 to have my service restored. I called and found out that Nicor over chareged me $390, but they were holding it as a depost and I would get it back in a year depending on how my payments went,
I also had a rental property that was foreclosed on, and I owed some $1400 odd dollars. I had the gas turned off at the rental propety after it was taken back by the bank. I didn't get a final bill, I received a bill from a collection agency stating I owe the balance of around $1400. The next notice I got was from Nicor saying I owed $1990 whick I couldn't understand at first. I was told by a Nicor Customer Service agent that I owe $1000 deposit and the $990 was my current bill. How could I get a bill of $990 for just 3 months. Then the agent returned to say I owe a deposit of $300 odd dollars and my current bull was $230 and the remaining was for the rental property. Now how can they combine two different accounts together and have me pay a collection agency which is trying to collect on part of that. Now my service is interuppted because of this combining thing.

poor service, refusal of service
The Nicor company KNOWS they are the ONLY or WERE the only company to provide natural gas service so they have opted to screw us ALL!!! I am disputing a bill now, after I was shut off (they refused me payment options) they requested 3000.00 for me to get service back on. We are approaching winter months and I have 6 kids in my home and I am expecting. My husband tried to get the service in HIS name and they REFUSED. He sent them EVERY document they requested and they still refuse us service!!! ComEd has never given us these problems. My husband recently came off a 5 month job lay off so we are behind on everything and now we have no gas service. We are on day 1 of this nightmare... I have an appt. with Liheap Energy Assistance but that is weeks away. I am looking towards Ambit now. I don't know what else to do and unfortunately I don't know the laws or who to contact. Does anyone know who I can contact and is it legal for Nicor to refuse my husband service under his name and social???? They say he is responsible for my bill but his name isn't even on the account.

gas bill/shut off
Around the end of july, i had filed a complaint with BBB about nicor gas because I paid a huge gas bill last nov.to get our gas back on.Hoping to get back on track with our bills, nicor had never sent us a gas bill after we paid in full. We had called numerous times wanting to know where our bills are because we didnt want want to get behind again.We finally get one in April . Here we are back with another high bill.Finally after turning them into the BBB, we get a payment plan. They said dend $200.76 and pay $150.57 plus current bill and I agreed to that. I told them i needed a couple of weeks to get the amount to send to them.All was agreed.So I send them 2 money orders at once, 2 wks later. Now they're saying they shut our gas off because I was late with the $200.76. they said the date due was Aug. 8th, when it should have been the 14th and of course they dont have any record of that, but that was made at the time we were dealing with the BBB, gas company and my self. Now they want $465.68 to get this gas turned back on.I dont have that kind of money laying around, so i'm asking to get this gas turned on immediately and get back on our payment arrangement that we agreed to.I'm doing my part they didnt do theirs.Nicor is the only people we have problems with. thank you for any help you can give us...
