Listened to a commercial on 610-WTVN radio in Columbus for a company by name of No More Mortgage soliciting inquiries for how to liquidate anyones first mortgage loan. Called to order the package from No More Mortgage and received large box in mail. At the time I received the information in the large box...we were informed that our relative in Florida, who had been fighting breast cancer, took a
turn for the worse and my wife and I decided on the spur of the moment to jump into our car and head for Florida to try to see her as a last visit. Simultaneously we received the No More Mortgage information in the mail the day we left for Florida. When we entered the state of Florida, and before reaching our destination, at 9:30PM that evening our relative passed away. We then continued on to Sarasota, the city of our relatives residence..to lend comfort to the family. Since most relatives related to this family member were located in up state New York, those family members had to make their way to Florida for what would now be a funeral which would take a number of additional days. We knew by this time that we'd be in Florida for several days or possibly a couple of weeks extra to provide comfort to our relatives immediate family and help with funeral arrangements. We stayed 3+ weeks and allowing for the additional 3 days we already had spent on the road from Columbus, OH to Sarasota, FL and the stressful time we had just been through, we decided to take a few more days to make the return trip (6). So all in all we were gone from our home nearly 1 month and a few days. When I returned I spoke with No More Mortgage personell explaining the circumstances of my delay in reviewing the No More Mortgage information..and at that time realized I was beyond the 30 review privilege. When presented with my circumstances, the company
( No More Mortgage ) indicated that I no longer had any return privilege and that I would have to pay for the information. Since I had never opened the package or reviewed the information in any manner I asked for some kind of "Special Consideration" given the circumstances of my dilemma and death in the family. They flatly refused to taken any of the circumstances into consideration and told me I would need to pay for the information or they would refer me to a collection agency... National Recovery Agency 800-814-6580...who has by now become incessent in their attempts to collect a balance from me for the No More Mortgage information package. I have repeatedly requested some sort of "Special consideration" for relief from the payment of this debt, in what I now have become to realize is nothing short of a scam to collect for the information by way of a collection agency. I have refused to pay for this item as I feel that having not reviewed the information, having not opened the information and in view of my family members death, I believe that any well meaning and thoughtful company would certainly give what I would call a "brevement privilege" under such circumtances as mine.
It is now my belief from other information obtained from the internet Google search "No More Mortgage Scam" that I am far from alone in experiencing problems with this company.. FYI: I am a former bank officer of many years and have, myself, had to attempt collection methods for debts of our customers of the bank. There are always extenuating circumstances to every debt collection effort but neither company (above) is willing to listen to my plea for assistance. As a former bank officer and with my degree in "Business Administaration and Finance" I handle all my personal obligations with the utmost of integrity and unfortunately have run across a company No More Mortgage and National Recovery Agency that does not excersize common sense in the application of their application of the Golden Rule.
