I wish to bring this to your kind notice that I had purchased one Nokia Mobile N97mini from Nokia Priority Dealer in sector 18 Noida in February 2010. After 2 months by April end the mobile started giving battery low. I took it to Nokia Customer Care in Sector 10. First of all even after mentioning the battery problem the battery was returned back along with the back cover and sim card. When I enquired about y they were returning the battery even after its complaint. The reply was reluctantly given that there is no problem with the battery. I was astonished to know that how can a call attending executive can diagnose that the battery was ok by just holding in her hand. When I ask about it there was no reply from the executive.
The handset was returned after few hours mentioning it was now ok.
Later when i started using it, there was no sign of any improvement. I then started using it keeping it connected(USB charging) with my Laptop. But unable to use it when outdoor I sent the unit for the second time. Same was the reaction and same sequence of activity. But this time i had noticed that there was some bend in body which they told was hinge(part Name). I was told neither they have new battery nor the hinge for it to be replaced. Then i was told when they will be available then it would be replaced. The time of the part availability was 5 days and 25-30 days respectively. They were supposed to call me back when available. Then I waited for another one month . Hoping against the hope that finally it would be ok completely. But even after no sign of call. I decided to take it once again, Because by then the set used get off on receiving the call.
But my problems was just multiplying after they started telling that the battery is out of warranty, they would try to replace free of cost but I need to extend my warranty on payment of Rs 1414. Initially i agreed but later thought that y i need to extend in the midst of warranty period. After I refused to extend the warranty the reply was that it would take 7 days to replace the battery, for hinge they had completely forgotten. After seven days have passed today I asked them about the battery then I was told it has arrived and i can collect my handset. with new battery in it. I sent my assistant to collect it but by then they had changed their decision and my assistant was told to get it after 2-3 days again. This is the story till date.
I m now confirmed their intention of not to get it replaced. till the whole 1 year is passed and then they can get away by telling that it was out of warranty so they could not replace.
I am not angry about the product quality or inconsistancy of the battery output. But it has hurt me a lot to say that I from the initial day of Hammer like Handset to todays most ultra smartphone i always used Nokia. Even after this incident may be my decision to stick to same brand may not change. But today i feel that Nokia no more connects people. Nokia now connects people to unreliable accessories and unprofessional Customer Care having heap of unskilled labour who can troubleshoot the problem by just holding the handset. I being a B.Tech E&TC and having the similar(Service and Technical Support) area of work had seen this miracle of troubleshooting the problem by just holding the unit in Nokia Care Centre of Sector 10 NOIDA.
As like a big ship which takes long time to sink, but once down it gets hard to come up again. Similarly Nokia also has started sinking because of negligence of above mentioned fact.
I can forsee that if no step is taken then its the begin of dusk of Nokia.
I shall receive the handset only if it is completely ok technically and aesthetically else it would be lying it the same Customer Centre.
