I purchased a brand new unit of Nokia N79 on October 25, 2008 at Nokia Service Center located at SM City North Edsa, Quezon City, Philippines.
On the night of December 12, 2008, my new N79 was started hanging when browsing the phone or creating a message on it I have no option but to turn off prematurely the unit then try again. But it keeps on hanging thus decided to bring it to the nearest Nokia Center near my office.
On December 13, (Sat) I brought it to Nokia Center located at Greenhills, San Juan, Metro Manila to have it check by an expert technician theres. On the reception area, I was advised by the customer service attendant that my phone memory and memory card need to be reformatted to resolve the issue of hanging. I agree and they advise me to make a follow up on December 15 (Monday).
In the afternoon of December 16 (Tuesday), I made a follow up on the Nokia Center just to check if my unit was ok and can be claimed. I have a hard time calling their single telephone number and the mobile number indicated in my Job Order as they are always busy and when I got a chance to call the number they are just ringing and nobody is answering. Finally, after a number of tries, I was able to contact a customer service personnel and advise me that my unit was ok and ready for pickup.
After office hour I went to the Nokia Service Center to claim my N79 unit. But only to my dismay when I inserted my SIM Card and started browsing the unit was still hanging. I mentioned to the customer service attendant if the technician had tried the unit after re-formatting and she said yes. How come that my unit is not yet working properly. I told her that if the technician conucted testing on my unit after reformatting, he should experience that my unit was still hanging. This means that reformatting is not really the solution. There are factors or problem causing this hanging problem.
I left my N79 unit again to them and advise the customer service personnel if they found that the problem is serious I recommend them to request Nokia for my N79 replacement. Considering that this was only a month ago when I bought the unit and yet I experienced this problem and cannot be resolved immediately, I can demand Nokia to replace the unit instead as soon as possible.
Until now December 27, 2008 my unit is still in the possession of Nokia Center, Greenhills, San Juan, Metro Manila, Philippines and haven't receive feedback from them when I can claim my repaired unit or a replacement one.
