terrible service
It was about 2 weeks before my wedding, late January of 2010. My wife wanted to buy me a new watch as a gift, and because i had put so much money towards her ring, she wanted to get me something special. I had done research and decided that Nordstroms looked to have the best watch selection. My whole family has been avid shoppers at Nordstroms for many years, and i always thought it was a very nice store to shop in, both in Bellevue, and at the Alderwood Mall location. We were in the Bellevue area that day, so we decide to go into the Bellevue square mall, and get there at about 6 PM. Its a tad busy, but pretty usual crowd for a Nordstroms, and we FINALLY find the watch department. All 3 counter attendants are busy, so we look around to find another department of watches, but this one is completely empty, except for a few sales associates that walk by and do nothing. After about 30 minutes of waiting we decide to go back to the busy counter. One of the attendants is flirting with 2 girls, and the 2 female attendants behind the counter are helping customers. we stand there for about 15 minutes, until finally one of the female attendants tell us "It''ll be just a minute". I was fine with, it gets busy, its cool, But that guy is still flirting, and has clearly seen us waiting. About 20 minutes after that, he finally comes over to us and asks if he can help us. Just by looking at this guy i can tell he is so slimey. I tell him there is a watch in the other department i would like to try on. We head over there and i point out the one i want. Its a Fossil brand, white band watch. Its just a tad to small, so he says he can add some more links to it in the back, but it may take a while. I say thats fine, and he come back about 15 minutes later. with the 2 added links, and it fits perfectly. He tells me a manager would have to come down and approve the sale, because the register was locked or something, but thats ok, those things happen, it wasnt really his fault. The female manager (of some sort) come to the desk and he tells her he added 2 links to the watch, and am then informed by her that they cant add those 2 links. Keep in mind theyre already added, they were in the back, not being used. I tell her i can pay extra for them, but am interrupted, and told they would have to take them off and that they are "THEIR PROPERTY", and that i could call Fossil, buy the extra links from them, and would also have to pay for the shipping involved. I worked over 3 years in the retail business, and know that that is not the way to treat a customer, and would have worked with a customer to try and work something out. i was in that store about 2 hours, and left empty handed. The woman was very rude to me, but she could have been having a bad day, but still i think i should have been given a little more sympathy about the situation. I was upset at the end and told her that we would not come back to this store, and she lost out on one customer, and she said nothing. To be honest i dont spend a lot of money at Nordstroms, but if a manager of this Bellevue Square Nordstroms could at least apologize, i know i would feel a lot better about this situation.
A few days later me and my fiance went to the Alderwood mall Nordstroms to pick out a new watch, and found an even better, less expensive one, and was helped out instantly by a very polite woman. The Alderwood one, as rarely as i go, will always get my business.

I’ve been completely underwhelmed by their customer service
For the second time in under six months I’ve been completely underwhelmed by the customer service in the downtown Seattle Nordstrom’s women’s lingerie department. Lingerie, specifically bras, is an item that customers definitely need assistance with. I’ve purchased all of my lingerie at Nordstrom’s for the past ten years or so, but after today I’ll probably look elsewhere. My main complaints are 1) too few sales women; 2) unprofessional attitudes; 3) unprofessional dress (dressed like they’re on their day off). If the guys in the shoe department can still wear suits and ties and look and act sharp, why can’t employees in the rest of the store do the same? Nordstrom’s is on a long downhill slide with respect to the quality of people they hire. I used to feel special when I shopped there. Now I feel like I’m just another anonymous customer at any other mediocre, serve-yourself, over-crowded department store.
