rewards progran scam
I find I as many others have been enrolled in a "rewards program" by Norm thompson by the simple act of purchasing one of their products. I finally noticed the $14.95 monthly charge which they had benn billing on my CC since October of last year and called to find out what it covered. behold, i was enrolled in a "rewards program" that I never knew existed. It evidently is one of those, "if you don't say you don't want it, your enrollment is automatic" programs. I always liked their clothing, but they have seen the last of me and my family. Things must be tough at Norm thompson for them to resort to scams like this to raise revenue...

Scam
You have to opt out on the internet and they depend upon people not checking their credit card bills closely enough. There are no rewards and it is a fraud. We called them and they refunded the last two months, which is what the bank would have done, but we are out the rest of the money. I never checkoff anything and am careful but this opting out has to be a way they get suckers. When we called they said the rewards were "free shipping on the next order". That's a whole lot of shipping for a charge every month!!!

NEVER RECEIVED ORDER!
I placed on order on 11/28/10 for a sweater as a Christmas gift. I was charged $16.00 to have the ONE SWEATER shipped. Tody is Dec 10 and still no sweater. I called Norm Thompson and spoke with the most unpleasant and unprofessional Mrs. Gustafson who refused to do anything. She said I have to wait 30 days before she would do anything. I explained this was a Christmas gift and she could not have cared less. She told me to purchase another one! How do they get away with this...STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY!! Bad news.

Rewards Program
For the past few months I have been receiving a $14.95 charge monthly on my credit card statement from Norm Thompson Rewards. I should have caught this before but didn't until this month when there was both a May and a June change on the same statement. I contacted the "Membership Service" - a woman answered but could tell me which company she represented because it was obviously a marketing firm that represented a number of companies. In the end it was obvious that I inadvertently took a discount that had a rewards program attached to it when I placed an order back in July 2009. There was some trial period and then the automatic monthly charges started. Confirmation of membership came in the email related to the order I placed, which I probably didn't read because I had already printed a confirmation out. The Customer Service supervisor was able to cancel my membership in this program and refund about half of the automatic charges. She cited policy and the fact that I could have cancelled anytime which I would have if I had caught it sooner. I really didn't have time to fight about this further.
This is the lowest type of trick marketing. Who ever heard of paying monthly to belong to a rewards program.
I won't be spending any more money ever with Norm Thompson or its affiliates Solutions or Sahalie. Its too bad because I really liked some of their products.

Refund denied
I returned a dress to Norm Thompson which I had had for some years but had not worn more than once because the first time I washed it the dress became very out-of-shape. I looked up their guarantee which said items could be returned anytime with no questions. I sent the dress to Norm Thompson's Returns Dept address and explained the problem in a note. Although I supplied my email, phone, and address with it, I heard nothing from Norm Thompson. After almost a month I called Customer Service and asked for the status. They told me to call in another week. I waited weeks until after Christmas. I spoke with another Customer Service person who told me she would research it and call me in 2 - 3 days. I heard nothing again and called back a week later. Now they tell me they have no record of receiving the dress and I must get some proof from the post office that I sent it and that they received it. I think I threw out the mail receipt and probably will not be able to produce proof for them. But Norm Thompson's careless attitude, lack of responsiveness, and ineptness are a warning not do business with them again.

Fraudelent billing
In August I ordered a pair of trousers from Norm Thompson, a company that I had done business for 43 years. I ordered on their internet site and paid by master card. I received the trousers and left the country for a vacation.
In December my spouse printed out the credit card statements and discovered that in August we had the first monthly fraudulent charge from Norm Thompson that totaled $61.75 by the December billing. When I phoned Norm Thompson they said that when I had ordered the trousers I had signed up for a rewards program. They said they did not make the charges but that they were from a Encore Marketing International at a different phone number. Further questions and accusations by me and the customer service employee said most people that called them about the charges never knew they signed up. I never authorized any charge by Encore marketing and never authorized Norm Thompson to share my credit card information.

Poor delivery service
In my experience, Norm Thompson Catalog Company does not deliver online purchase items by the date as requested. To make the situation worse, they do not warn you that the items will not be deliver on time so you can make other arrangements, they do not response to emails inquiring about the purchase and Norm Thompson does not offer credit when they failed to deliver. I had order Christmas gifts from Norm Thompson online in November indicating that I wanted them delivered in the week of December 15, 2008. I receive the items on December 26 with no offer to adjust the cost of the items. I had tried to contact the company before Christmas but they did not respond to my inquiries. Norm Thompson did not warn me that the items would not be there by the agreed date.

rewards program
I too was a victim of this Rewards Program scam. Capital One is disputing the charges, and I spoke with both Norm Thompson and Encore representatives today. They have agreed to remove the charges from my bill. I have also filed complaints with the Office of Consumer Affairs in PA. and here in Georgia where I live, and encourage everyone else to do the same. When someone uses my cc# to make unauthorized charges, I consider that credit card fraud!

14.95 Charge
I am receiving charges of 14.95 a month that I have not authorized. I ordered a pair of pants several months ago.
Since then, I have been getting these 14.95 monthly charges.
