This school is wonderful for the children to grow in a safe and wonderful environment that allows children TO BE children. However, the staff is notorious for misrepresenting themselves to parents. The have 3 different concrete and isolated incidents of violating my civil liberties (telling the parent what they should or should not have on their myspace page in which the school staff trespassed, telling the parent how to dress because she is more heavy set and telling me I have no right to consult with an attorney for legal advice before meeting with the staff to address these issues).
They had my implied and verbal contract set to pay $300 monthly for a financial aid award that was in process and they waited until the last minute to tell me they have no more money (although they had my financial aid application for the entire year) and tried to bill me for a difference (4, 000) to discourage me from coming back. After looking at all of what I experienced and feel they denied me (with strong evidence supporting), I wrote a letter expressing how I feel my civil liberties had been violated, stating all examples.
In meeting with them yesterday, another parent came into the office requesting a financial aid packet (and the director gave a packet to her right in front of my face). Why would they give out a packet if they don't have the money? She (they) lied. In addition to this, they stated they could not work with me because of the complaints I stated in the letter. They would not take responsibility for any of their actions or the actions of their staff, nor deny what they did. Northern Lights Falsely Represents themselves as being non judgmental and consistent. I have heard this from other former parents and now see for myself. Especially Nance Tolivar and Jennifer Diaz. I would not recommend this school because of the interaction and treatment they give to parents (based off of appearance, style, etc). This is a violation of civil liberties and no school has the right to tell a parent how to dress, how to wear their hair, what they can and cannot have on a myspace/ facebook, etc.
When a parent speaks up to question their actions and authority, the school does retaliate. I have heard this from 5 other former parents who attended there and now have experienced it for myself. This school does not take responsibility for their actions and run by a bunch of egotistical idiots who think they can just say and treat parents how ever they want to and not worry about consequences.
Please note that all of which I have stated is based 100% off of factual incidents with documented support.
