Bothering me with calls
Northland group are bad people with bully tactics. They call my house all the time and ask for someone not here. I have tried to get to the bottom of the call...they will not talk rationally. They keep calling back, even though they have promised they have taken my number off thier list. Liars! I wish someone would look into this company and help!

Harrassing phone calls
For the last 2 weeks, I have been receiving phone calls at my phone number looking for my sister and/or brother in law. I have explained that they do not live here and have asked to have my number pulled from their system. I still get 3 calls a day, early AM, mid afternoon, and at night. My sister while visiting me, called them back and told them she had nothing to do with the credit card bill they were trying to collect and gave them my brother in law's phone number. They persist in calling my home looking for him. How do I get them to stop bothering me at my home?

Informed me that I owed money on a credit card that I closed that account 10 years prior
This company called me today 12/16/09 and informed me that I owed money on a credit card that I closed that account 10 years prior. I called the store that the card was through and was informed that if I did in fact owe money they would of found it through my SS.

As I already knew, nothing was found. I called Northland Group back and explained that I did not owe and they still insist that I do, I then called back the store that I had the card through and they reassured me that I do not have a debt with them. So, if northland group contacts you for an alleged debt, check all records and don’t give any personal information.

False Attempt to collect debt
Received letter in the mail stating that my husband had a debt of $297.74 that could be settled for $122.10. When I called to speak with them, not only was the person a little rude, but did not seem surprised when I told them my husband had passed away nearly FOURTEEN years ago. He would not provide any information on the reason for the letter or the source of the debt and said he would "remove his name and address from the database with a notation that he'd passed away." What a scam! Can't imagine how many people probably fall for this!!

credit collection
They got my unpublished number and called and stated they were collecting on a bad debt from citibank. I advised them to call me back in a few days to work out a payment arrangement, Never heard back from then, Instead a company Client first from boca raton florida called and said that I have a structured settlement that they wanted me to have them help me withdrawel my funds to pay off old debt that i had. I told them that i do not own any structured settlement. I was not interested in talking to them. Recieved several other phone calls from northland that they wanted to know the details of why i have not be able to pay off the debit from city bank and wanted information on on my monthly income. I discountinued the calls. then client first continued phone calls to me with phone numbers that you could not return back, block numbers. Once I told client first i will call the police and report them, all phone calls from Northland group & client first stopped.

They can kiss my you know what
Just received a collections notice from them today, about an Exxon/Mobil account I had years ago. I hadn't used the card in severaL years, and had paid off what little balance there was via another collections company. Exxon/Mobil had stopped sending me statements, and I forgot I even owed them anything. But again, it was paid off. Now this "Northland Group Inc." is trying to scam me into paying something that's already paid. HELL NO. I'm also filing a complaint with the FTC and BBB of Minneapolis. Northland Group can kiss my you know what.

Trying to collect 2 times on the same debt
I settled a debt turned over by Capital One to the Northland Group in 2005 for a credit card. Yesterday, I got a letter from Northland Group again, wanting money to settle on the same credit card.
They would not listen to me, just wanted the money. (again)
I gave them their account number when I settled in 2005, but they said they could not use it. The money they want now is for the same credit card back in 2005, the last four numbers of the credit card match. When I initially paid this settlement, I did it by phone with a check, but the Northland Group did not mail me a release or update my credit report as promised.

Scam settlement offer
SCAM, SCAM, SCAM

I received a letter from Northland Group offering a settlement on an account that I had with Arrow Financial Services/Washington Mutual Bank. The settlement was a too-good-to-belive settlement of $1, 888, 08 on a balance of $4, 605.00.

I was about to pay this amount when I decided to Google Northland Group, Inc. and check them out. SCAM, SCAM, SCAM. I found way too many complaints that this was just another scam company trying to bilk people out of their money. I am tired of these companies who illegally scam financially struggling people. I am reporting them to the Better Business Bureau (BBB) and to the International Commerce Commission (ICC).

If you have received ANYTHING from the Northland Group that is related to this, I encourage you to report them also.

Sincerely,

scam
Just got a letter trying to collect on a debt that was over 10 years old and had been previously paid. When we called they were trying to get us to make a smaller payment-as payment in full. When we asked for verification on the debt (which is mandated by law within 30 days) we got a run around and were told that they would just pass the debt along to another agency. If they were indeed a reputable agency, they would have provided the verification. When I got loud and told them that the debt would only be settled with proper verification (which was my legal right) he hung up the phone. DONT FALL FOR THIS SCAM!!!
