Inaccessible secure offsite backup
I purchased Norton 360 with three licenses and installed them on two computers - an old desktop and a laptop. I trusted that the secure offsite backup offered by Norton would be available to me if ever needed. Before I had the laptop two years it "died" and I was unable to get anything off the hard drive. I purchased a new laptop, used my third license to install Norton 360 on it, and contacted Norton (Symantec) to request that they transfer my backup from the "dead" laptop to the new laptop so I would not lose my information. After over five hours on livechat with four technicians over two days nobody could get it through their head that I did not want the backup from my brand new computer installed onto the new computer - I wanted the backup from the "dead" laptop to be transferred to my new computer. They all kept telling me there was no backup for the new computer! Duh, it was a new computer and had no backup! A telephone call was to have been made to me within 48 hours but never came. I emailed and asked that they provide me with a computer disk containing my backup but have not received that either! I saw a recent article in a ladies magazine showing another lady who had the same problem with them. My computer repair person said he quit selling Norton products for this very reason - customer support was severely lacking. I deleted the Norton 360 product from my computers and installed Microsoft Onecare instead.

Since I downloaded this product my computer freezes up and crashes repeatedly. On receiving my credit card statement their wasn't a phone number to reach them only this e mail address. I paid $70 for this product and my computer is slower and I am having the fore mentioned problems. The number under their name is 1791207975. Can you please help me with this?

Didn't order this
I just bought a computer from Best Buy and I had them tweak it for me so it runs faster in Alaska. My daughter bought a computer in Pittsburgh Pa the day before and bought Norton 360 software. Well I went on to download a trial version which it stated to me that if I cancel it before 30 days I would get my money back. It was just a trial version. Well as soon as I put it on but I never downloaded it to my computer my daughter called me up and told me what she had done. Well the very next day I canceled the subscription and got a confirmation notice in my email saying that I canceled it and was supposed to get my money back but ended up they still charged me and I didn't get any credit on my account for it. So what is going on. Is Norton hurting that much that you guys are robbing people of their money. This all seems like a huge scam. I do have Norton 360 3.0 on my computer but its from my daughters disk that she bought. It has 3 uses out of it. So I would like to have my account credit back for the $69.98 that was taken out. 06/23/2009 DEBIT C&C DRI*SYMANTEC MYORD.COM/SYM MN $69.98 This is what I see on my account.

Norton 360
Hello, recently I purchased Norton 360 from a retail store and i installed it and it seemed fine...but then it started showing error messages and your staff technicians tried to fix it and the research team said they would contact me within 24 hours...it has been more than 3DAYS!!!

* i tried to get help from your technicians AGAIN! and someone called Vignesh said the only way to fix the newly purchased program was if i pay MORE money!!!...I have already paid for this program..THAT DOES NOT WORK! and now I am expected to pay more than the program cost to make it work!
* I am quite outraged at this ridiculous turn of events and I demand that I get better customer service and do not have to pay for something that should not have had problems in the first place!
* I am a patient person but I do not take kindly to being treated like a fool!
* I want my program fixed for no charge...it is not good enough to ask me to pay when the product does not work as it should!
* If I do not get some satisfaction from this matter, then you can be very sure that I will take this matter much further!

Thank you,

"Free" upgrade not free at all
I bought Norton 360 2.0 in March of this year. I installed the software, registered it with Symantec, and it was working and doing its job just fine. I had received several updates to the software (as expected for virus recognition, etc).

Last month I received an email from Symantec offering a "free upgrade" to Norton 360 3.0. The advestisement emphasized that since I was a registered license holder, I was eligible for free software upgrades.

My assumption was that I would get the "free upgrade" and when the year on the license I purchased expired Symantec would bill me for the next license. Obviously, I was mistaken. The upgrade install eliminated my Norton 360 2.0 software and installed Norton 360 3.0 on a thirty day trial basis, and asked me if I wanted to purchase a new software key to keep Norton 360 3.0 working.

This certainly was deceptive advertizing. It isn't free when you have to buy a new software key. I wrote directly back to Symantec by email complaining about this practice and have not heard a thing from them since. I will reinstall the Norton 360 2.0 on my laptop, but once the license expires you can be assured I will find some other security software for my computer and it will not be Symantec.
