Bad business practiaces
I only use Symantec’s Norton security suite because Comcast, my internet provider, make you. If you don’t you get bad program conflicts. A few months ago my son downloaded a malicious antivirus program. It didn’t do any damage, but I couldn't get rid of it and it keep changing our desktop and giving us popup saying our computer was infected, etcetera. It was EXTREAMLY annoying. Unfortunately I don’t remember the name of it. I worked with Norton trying to get rid of it even to the point of calling them. No luck, so I bit my tongue as I hung up. After much work on my own I not only figured out how to get rid if it, I found out that Symantec OWNED the company. Yes, the article I found this information in did say that part of the purchase agreement was that they had to allow the Australian company to continue operations, but I did notice that all the other “software” this company offered was on Norton’s “Blocked” list, so they should know how to get rid of it. I tried to complain to Norton and to only to find out the have NO complaint departments! I bit my tongue again. Fast forward to this week. I had problems with Windows that messed up Norton. It took 2 hours on a remote desktop link to get Norton to work again. I would say that it was completely Windows fault, but Norton knew that the windows update was causing this issue, so I would think they would have known right where to go to fix it. Again, I bit my tongue. Then last night at 12:34 AM my phone rings. I don’t make it to the phone before it stops ringing, but my heart is going 90. I look at the caller ID worried about which one of my family called. It was a 1-800 number. I called it back. IT WAS NORTON??. I bit my tongue and hung up. Five minutes later, the same number called me. I said in an annoyed but low tone, "Do you realize its 12:30 in the morning. Why the hell are you calling me? Did they guy Hung up! No I’m sorry, no apologizes. I called the number and let it fly. I have never yelled at a service person before because I realize they are only the front line in a company, but I had had it. I’m going to pay to MacAfee.

Awful customer service
When I ordered the 360 4 Norton, every time I downloaded it said it was expired. I wrote 5 times to the company on the last one she finally told me I had to download norton removal tool. I would get just a bit here and there. So I called customer service and he said you have to do this, by this time I was totally annoyed and confused what to do. He was hesitant on helping me. Finally he did remote working on my computer. When you purchase something it should be self expanatory, give you right product numbers the one sent was in correct and the one in email too. Way to much trouble my computer was un protected for like 5 days.

Ignorant and Untrained Representatives!!
My boyfriend was told that our computer was moving slow due to an excess of unused files on our computer. He called Quest (our internet provider) to speak with them and to see if they could do anything to help as we are not the best at figuring out computers. Quest transferred us to the Norton AntiVirus call center and told us they could handle this and help us with removing unused files. The representative of Norton AntiVirus was able to get into our computer from their call center and manage the files themselves. Once the rep was finished removing our "unused files" we noticed that he had in fact deleted ALL OF OUR PICTURES! Every last one. Birthdays, Christmas, vacations etc. All gone. After FOUR HOURS on this phone call the damage had been done and they offered no help at all to get these files and pictures back. We then gave the computer to the Computer Guro company and they were able to retrieve all lost files and pictures. This is great. However it cost us $250 and a week of missed work (my boyfriend works from home)!! This to me is insane! We have to figure out how to pay $250 due to Norton AntiVirus and their representative!! Norton AntiVirus may have good antivirus software but their representatives are not smart enough to handle computer issues themselves. Never ever allow one of these reps to personally manage your computer and delete anything, you will be sorry!!

Automatic renewal
Norton Antivirus Protection, I am writing you to ask that you credit my VISA card with the $64.19 charge on 11/29/10. I have not had Norton Protection since my computer crashed early last year. I have tried to cancel this, but have been unable to do so. I waited for nearly an hour when I called the 1-800 nunber listed on your website.
Please get this message to the proper person so this charge for 2011 will be removed from my credit card.

annual renewal
Norton charging my credit card $59.53 for annual renewal I cancel every year. They put you on hold { still on hold right now for 45:15 and counting} they play bad music that is recorded badly so you will hang up. Just waiting on hold for this scam I have called my credit card company and filed a dispute. Scam, fraud how much does Norton scam people out of every year. It looks like I will have to get a new credit card number. It's a shame a company has fallen this low. Wait!!! No never mind just recording saying I should not hang up my call is very important telling me it will take longer if I hang up and call back. I guess this is George Bush fault. Obama could get some Votes if he made a law outlawing this fraud by Norton, Sysmantec. Wait 59 minutes got someone. 14 minutes a young man man in India assured me I would not be charged in the future just like last time. Stay tuned.

Unauthorized credit card charge.
I have a charge of 62.14$ on my credit card for "Norton Annual Renewal" that I have not authorized. I have not been using this product for some time now. When I call the number on my statement, I get a nifty message telling me how important it is to keep the product, then when put on hold, they play the most annoying music to dicourage you from holding the line. There is no way of reaching them. How do I go about getting a refund and avoiding such a scam in the future?
And I thought that nortaon would be a trustworthy company!!!

con you into spending extra money
I paid $50 for NAV in 2006. I got three viruses it didnt remove in they first year. Each time I was told that the viruses were lodged in system restore which their product doesnt search so they are not responsible. Therefore they can charge $100 each time to get rid of the viruses. At the end of the year, they automatically charged my account for another year even though I had deleted the main files and installed a free antivirus (Avast!, Spybot and Malware Bytes). They said that since I agreed to be automatically charged and I still had a nub of Norton they were allowed to do it. I showed my bank proof that I had cancelled in writing and the bank took the charge off my card. Not Norton- my bank. Ive been using FREE antivirus since the summer of 2007. My computer runs faster, when I get a virus, I run the antivirus and it cleans it up. Every time. For Free
