Office Manager Harassment/Retaliation
My manager gossiped about other employees, asked myself and other employees to monitor coworkers she did not like so she could find a reason to try to get them fired, she would purposefully make these employees jobs difficult in hopes that they would quit, and when I chose to remove myself from the situation and only focus on doing my job, I became a target. The manager hid requested paperwork for the corporate office management visiting the office for audits. The manager keeps current employee files in an unlocked file cabinet and she has shown her office staff how to break into her office when it is locked. She also keeps previous employee records in an unlocked file cabinet in the unlocked supply closet where anyone can access them. I was instructed by my manager to give one Superintendent a majority of the work because she did not like him. Employees were asked to monitor me, she would create/fabricate lies about vendors or management complaints about me to use to validate why she was restricting my ability to do my job and I was made to report every detail to her and I was not allowed to respond, contact, or reply to co-workers, vendors, other management, Superintendents, or the corporate office without her approval. She had my co-worker send me a mean email and dictated to the employee via email what she was to say to me. She would blame her mistakes on other employees. I was discouraged from taking my vacation time, I was too busy throughout the day to take my two 15 minute breaks and I was expected to answer the phone during my 30 minute lunch break. I was not able to work late to finish my work, while other employees could. I was written up for an error while another employee who made a similar error and made the corrections in my name was not written up. The company has employees shave work hours by only paying by the hour and 30 minute increments on hand written time sheets. When I filed a formal complaint I was told I have no legal standing and I was asked to resign and in return they have offered to pay me one month of pay.
