I recently went into an NTB shop located at
2820 rt 73 N. Maple Shade NJ 08052 located in south jersey and was totally ripped off. STAY FAR AWAY FROM THIS PLACE.

I only went in there to only get a wheel alignment, balance and tire rotation for my nissan altima which came to a total of $89.00, THAT'S ALL. Before my alignment was completed a young mechanic walked out the shop with my slip in hand & spoke to the counter guy named Paul next thing I know this Paul tells me i need my steering wheel fluid flushed, then took me to my car popped the hood & dipped his finger in the steering wheel tube & showed me a that it wasn't supposed to be brown & black & have a burnt smell & needed to be flushed and that my radiator hose was leaking & needed to be replaced. Not really thinking twice about it I went ahead & authorized the young mechanic to do the flush which cost $109.99 thinking the hose replacement was also included in that price. My now initially $89.00 bill has just jumped up to $198.99 plus tax & shop fees added of course TOTAL: $227.98. Not to mention the bill didn't break down what exactly was done if a new hose was put in which I found out later a new hose was not installed, if other fluids were put in or the labor charge alone it just said $109.

Feeling a little unsure about what I just done when remembering only a few days earlier I just had a oil change by my mechanic . Went right home and called my mechanic who had recently worked on my car only a few days earlier, asked had my steering wheel fluid been looked at and if so did it need to be flushed, he then informed me that not only had all my fluids been checked that no flushing of any type needed to be done to any fluid whatsoever. I then told my mechanic please don't think in any way am i questioning your excellent work but I only thought that maybe it did need it, my mechanic said no problem and warned me that places like this always try to take advantage of unknowing customers and add to the bill. After hearing my mechanic confirm this i was outraged beyond control took my mechanic slip & ntb receipt and drove right back up there to speak to the manager and the shady sales counter guy Paul who scammed me and let my voice be heard.

Well after only a few minutes of giving them a piece of my mind and letting it be known that i do not appreciate a dishonest business or a dishonest salesperson trying to take advantage telling me i needed a service that my VERY REPUTABLE mechanic told me (after the fact) I did not need. Paul(counter guy) also told me that the charge for a steering wheel fluid can was $45, i called one of my brothers and he assured me that the can only cost $5 at any pepboys & that I was getting ripped off, this info was icing on the cake, only making me more irate. Paul broke down the labor and I cut him off saying WHAT LABOR that young mechanic was standing there flushing it out and pumping some new fluid in all of under 10 minutes. I then proceed to demand my money back for this totally unnecessary service I was charged for, of course they said they can't do that, and then I said if I don't get my money back your district manager will for sure hear about this, and he said that's fine.
Before I walked out that door I let it be known that YOU MAY HAVE GOTTEN AN ADDITIONAL $109 OUT OF ME BUT YOU WONT EVER GET ANOTHER CENT & THIS WILL BE THE VERY LAST TIME ME OR MY FAMILY OR FRIENDS WILL EVER COME BACK TO THIS OR ANY OTHER NTB. I also asked him is what y0u do try to take advantage of your female customers of course they denied but it's so true it's not even funny.
Then the manager proceeds to tell me they get 45 or so customers a day, I said really WELL IT WILL BE A LOT LESS ONCE I GET DONE PUTTING THE WORD OUT, YOU BETTER BELIEVE THAT!!! So lucky is that Paul if I had not left when i did before getting ready to jump over that counter to choke him, and if not me it definitely would have been one of my seven brothers, please believe.

I went on yahoo looking to see if others had the same problems with this very dishonest excuse for a shop and i stumbled upon this website and immediately signed
up to put my two cents in. It is so unfortunate that people out here like myself work hard for our money & have to unknowingly fall victim to this type of fraud. It's sad and ntb employees should be ashamed of themselves but their not, and you best believe I am filing a complaint to their customer service office, and the district manager for this very unacceptable behavior of what these scam artists say is how to properly run a shop, and their all in on it from the manager to young mechanics back there and can't nobody tell me otherwise.

With all that said if you want a VERY REPUTABLE & HONEST & RELIABLE WORKMANSHIP DONE TO YOUR CAR OR TRUCK & SERVICED BY MECHANICS WHO STAND BY THEIR WORK TO YOUR CUSTOMER SATISFACTION AND WILL NOT TRY TO FRAUD WHOM HAS BEEN SERVICING ME & MY FAMILY, FRIENDS GOING ON 12 YEARS NOW, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND MY MECHANIC :

Ask around even the cops in the area will vouch for their top notch work at affordable prices, of course depending on how big the job your having done but still none the less affordable.
How many cops have vouched for you ntb? The correct answer is... ZERO!!!

I now have learned the hard way of what I had already practiced for so many years to only let me mechanic touch my car and he will do just that.

Quoted 2hours to do alignment and fit one tire, return 3 hours later to find work has not even begun, waited a further 35 minutes to speak to an assistant (there was only one other customer recieving assistance). Finally spoke to someone who tells me work is in progress, when i clearly could see my car in the parking lot. Requested my keys and left. Avoid NTB silver spring at all cost, poor customer service, poor work ethic, no clear scheduling or any sort of management on display. I also witnessed them dealing horror stories of tire blow outs to a young lady purchasing four tires if she didnt take an alignment at further cost to herself, i am a qualified engineer and hold a management post and can clearly state this is scare mongering for profit. Very low way to do business!

I experienced the following today but it was the same as with every visit:

1. I brought my VW Jetta in around 8:30 am on Sunday for 4 tires because of an advertised special.
2. The advertised specials are conveniently not in stock and the next cheapest tire is $30 per tire more. I am so desperate for tires that I agree to a more expensive tire.
3. They pressure me to get an alignment even after I tell them I just had one. I tell them no.
4. I leave the car and get a call 6 hours later to tell me that they are working on the car and found that my tires are out of alignment. I tell them no again to the alignment.
5. I show up 20 minutes before closing (9 hours after dropping it off) and find that they hadn't even started work yet. I have to wait another hour for them to put the tires on.
6. I am charged almost $40 per tire for tire disposals and tire installation. I turned down the additional $15 per tire road hazard protection.
7. I originally wanted the $69 per tire special but ended up with a $600 bill.

Absolutely needed a battery today, took them 3 hours to install a battery. It seems to me they always give priority to bigger job. Unless you have time to spare or willing to leave the car with them, I will not try this place.

NTB in Mill Run, Hilliard Ohio. Went in for tire balance and rotation. My daughter asked to check a wheel noise. NTB claims I needed four new McPherson Struts plus tires. NTB says the tires are "in danger of shredding" due to bad struts. I approved the $1200 job including four struts by phone (7am) and then became suspicious as I thought my Chevy Malibu had shocks, not struts.

I arrived at NTB just in time to see my car on the lift. I pointed at the rear shocks and asked why he was charging me for struts that cost hundreds of dollars more. He said the computer made a mistake and offered to give me a "buy three, get one free." I told him the deal was off but he already had the tires off the rims, so I ended up paying $125 per tire with the exact same tire at Tirerack selling for $61 each. This experience on the morning of August 10, 2009 has made me a permanent non-customer of NTB for the rest of my life.
