Fraudulant conduct on Tire Rotation
I brought my PT cruiser in for a punctured tire this morning. The tire in question is the Right rear tire. I showed the desk technician who incorrectly wrote the LEFT rear tire. This would not have been a problem, The problem arises as I also payed for a Tire Rotation. When I returned to pick up my vehicle 3 hours later, I find that the RIGHT Rear tire is STILL punctured and low on air. I confronted the manager who assured me that a tire rotation was Completed despite the fact that the right rear tire, the punctured tire, was still located on the right rear of the vehicle. I guess they rotated the tires so many times that the tires ended up exactly where they began... I payed for a tire rotation and did not receive it, the manager offered to repair the puncture for free (which they should have done in the first place) but refused to rotate the tires, insisting it was completed. Needless to say I have filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau (BBB) and consulted the County Police Department.

Car repair
In March of 09 I brought my 2000 jeep Wrangler in for Tires, Brakes, Shocks. When I dropped it off and recieved an estimate I asked worst case seniero so I was given an cost 0f $1600.00. I agreed and left.
Later in the day not hearing anything I called the store where the work was being done. I was told bt Kevin(NTB store manger) that they were having problems with my rear shocks that the bolts were rusted and would it be ok to keep it over night. Again I agreed. The following day I called they told me my jeep would be completed by 6:00 pm now keep in mind I dropped it off at 9:00 am the day before. So I did ask while they have my jeep on the rack could the find a noise that I was having in the front area of my jeep they said sure. I thought my front Differentail was going bad.
Well at 6:00pm I arrived to find out my Jeep was still not done in fact they hadn't even mounted my tires yet. I ask about my noise and according to Kevin(Store Manger) there so called master mechanic said it was my transfer case. I felt a littler relieved. NTB offered to repair it for an additional $1600.00 I told them not thanks I could handle that.
Anyway I arrived at 6:00pm store was closing my Jeep still not done so I asked the gentleman at the counter what was the problem he then informed me they were sent the wrong parts and had to find another supplier since it was Sunday. Ok I ll give them that. So finally 6:45 Kevin the store manger came out told me my Jeep was done. So I ask him what took so long he told me that it was because the underside of my vehcile was so rusty. (Whatever) so now it has taken a company that specilizes in tires, brakes, shocks two days to complete this task. When it was time to pay for the work done I was surprised to find out my $1600.00 was noe $2100.00 after argueing with them for another 20min. It was settled at $1800.00.
Now on to my transfer case I bought one from a salvage yard for $589.00 I put it in only to find out that it wasn't my transfer case after all. but infact a CV yoke on my front drive shaft. So I went to an auto parts start bought the bearing for $19.00 and put it in myself. So needless to say I will not ever go to another NTB. I did call the dealship to ask about there hourly rate and to my surprise they charge the same rate. Leeon learned!

Ruined my car!
Yesterday morning I brought my car to NTB (National Tire & Battery) on 114 in Danvers. I went in and had asked for 2 tires to be replaced on my car. While in the process of waiting for my car to be finished, the sales associate cam up to me and explained that their mechanic decided to pop the hood of my car and thought that I may have antifreeze leaking out... The sales associate then reassured me that they topped it off with antifreeze as a courtesy to me. I explained to Bruce that I have had much work done to the car and had it looked over several times previous to me bringing it in and not one mechanic has ever told me i have had a leak.
While driving home from NTB, my car started over heating (which it has never done in the 4 years I have owneed it) After having a friend look under my hood, she said my radiator cap wasnt even on properly ... there was anti freeze all over my car.
Early this morning I called NTB in Danvers and asked to speak to the manager. I explained to him that I never authorized their mechanic to go under the hood and touch my radiator and explained how I couldnt drive my car because it kept over heating. After giving me a hard time about "Liability policies", the manager told me to come down and he would give me some antifreeze to fill my car up with and that would be fine.
While picking up the anti freeze from NTB, I also decidedto call the Area Director of NTB to alert him that his mechanic foolishly never put on the cap to my radiator and after speaking to the manager Al, he gave me such a hard time and wouldnt even apologize. The area director apologized several times and assured me that all i had to do was put antifreeze into my car and it would be fine.
I followed their instruction and put the antifreeze in my car... and after driving my car for a few minutes it started to over heat once more (again this has never happpened in the 4 years of owning the car) I made my way to a mechanic and had them look at my car.
The local Mechanic told me that due to the antifreeze cap not being on properly and it spilling all in my car.. the radiator was shot and my thermostat blew.. He told me it need to be replaced and i was not going to be able to drive it at all without ruining the motor of my car!!! I was furious.. I called back to AD of NTB and explained to him that because his mechanic touch my radiator, which i never asked or paid for, my radiator and thermostat were trash!!!
The AD started being very rude on the phone telling me he was not liable, and that it wasnt believable. I asked for his manager's number and i explained to him that I would go to my insurance and small claims court if i had to, but I was not going to pay for a problem that they created!
I spoke to the senior executive of NTb, I introduced myself and explained to him the situation and how both his AD and manager of NTB were throwing policy and procedures in my face, also how I never authorized them to touch my radiator and they only told me about it after they done the work.., . Mr. Balash promised to return my phone call . So far he has not.
Im paying in both time and money for a problem they created and all i get from NTB is "We're NOT Liable"

Messed Up Oil Change/ Check Engine Light on after leaving this joint!
This place SUCKS! I took my expedition here to get an oil change only because I was being too cheap to take it to the dealership, it was a toss up between paying $24 or $45.
I took my truck in on Friday, on my way home I heard a thump as I turned the corner (I was only a few blocks away). I thought maybe I hit a hole or something so I left it alone and didn't think anything else about it.
That evening I drove my car into the city and as I accelerate to get on the e-way the car would hesitate, slowly getting into the lane. Finally it stops - picks up speed and back to normal ( so I thought).
Silly me after all of those signs I take my expedition to WI for a family trip. My Mother is driving and she comments on how different the truck feels. This crazyness is going on all weekend. Sunday on the way home the "check engine" light came on ( this has never happened before) we were affraid to drive back but had to.
Monday I take the truck back to NTB, explain the situtation to them and they look at me like... duh what? Duh.. fix my car!!!(thats not what I was saying in my head) I watched them walk around the truck, lift it up, play with my tires and walk away. He had the nerve to come back and tell me that they don't what's wrong with it - but the oil change work was done correctly. If i want them to inspect it any futher than that, I would have to pay. Oh my goodness... I was about to blow my freak'n top but my kids were standing there beside me. He acted like he didn't want to answer my questions. Like I was bothering HIM and I am the one with a messed up car. WHAT! Time to write to the BBB.
He didn't care and the manager didn't care. It's all about the $$$$.
You really get what you pay for (in this case less)- I regret not going to the dealer in the first place - now I have to go anyway AND spend more money.
STAY AWAY FROM THESE JERKS - THEY WILL SCREW UP YOUR CAR!

Ruined my tire on purpose to sell me new ones
My husband, mother and I went to the NTB in Raymore, MO to have our driver side rear tire looked at. It had a very slow leak for going on 2 months and we finally got around to getting it fixed. My husband and I went inside while my mother stayed in the car. We told the guy at the counter that we needed the driver's rear tire looked at due to slow loss of air. He wrote down the info and I saw what he wrote, DR, for drivers side rear tire on the work order.
We gave the guy the keys so he could get the info he needed from the car. He came back in and was trying to sell us new tires because the tread was starting to get low. We politely told the guy no, there was still enough tread left and we weren't buying new tires that day. My mother came in after the guy had looked at the car and tire and we waited in the waiting room.
20 minutes later the guy wheeled our tire in and said we had something stuck in the sidewall and the tire wasn't fixable. It was a staple of some sorts and you could here the tire hissing from air loss. My husband told him to put the tire back on and that we would just go buy a used tire up the road because we didn't want one brand new tire and 3 almost wore out tires and we weren't ready to buy a whole new set that day. So the guy leaves and is rolling the tire thru the shop (we can see him thru the massive window in the waiting room)and that is when I realized that the tire he had taken off was the passenger rear and not the driver rear like he was instructed. They put the tire back on and the guy came in again and tried to sell us 4 new tires again. We told the guy we weren't buying new tires 1. we couldn't afford them this week 2. the other tires still had some life left in them. So then the guy was trying to get us to apply for a credit card thru them. My husband sa
id no for the tenth time and then questioned him on taking off the wrong tire. The guy claims he must have heard my husband wrong but I saw him right down "DR" on the work order and my mother who was sitting in the car when he came out to the parking lot to get the plate number and mileage said he looked at the drivers rear tire and not the passenger rear tire. He then offered to go look at the correct tire and my husband told him don't bother we would take it somewhere else.
I am absolutely convinced that they stuck this staple in my tire to sell us new tires. There was absolutely nothing wrong with this tire before I took my vehicle there. My husband checks the tire pressure weekly and this tire has never been low before and it was not low when we left our house or when we had pulled into their parking lot. I find it very suspect that I have a staple in the opposite tire that had the issues to begin with and the whole time this guy was trying to sell us new tires. Not only that, but the way the staple was stuck in there was very odd. The staple was flattened out and stuck right in the sidewall like a needle and it was nice and sparkly clean yet it was rainey and snowing and the roads are gross and grimy.
I was furious to begin with and the guy was like "whatever" when we questioned him on it and said "do you want new tires or not". We prompltly left before I choked the guy. After we left we went to the business the next parking lot down and was inside for all of 10 minutes and when we came out the tire that had nothing wrong with it to begin with was half flat.
Now I have to replace a tire that was perfectly fine before hand @ $180 for 1 tire. I am outraged and will NEVER go there or any other NTB again. I called their hotline number and put a complaint in and am waiting for a response.

I feel scammed
On Feb.14, 2008 I purchased 4 new 20" tires along with road
hazard for my 03 Dodge pickup. I also bought the 3 year
alignment. The counter man told me to bring it in every 6
months for alignment and rotation. So i came in August 14.
We discovered the two front tires were showing cords and
the service guy said i probably wouldn't get another week
before they blew, and i should buy two more tires now before
i got stranded. I was dumbfounded at this point, since they
were only 6 months old. I spoke to the manager and made my
argument that new tires should get a couple years and at the
very least my road hazard should cover this problem. He of
course disagreed with my logic and insisted its not their fault
and the best he could do was give me a discount for two new
tires. Well these two tires somehow cost the same as the originals
I was not happy with the outcome, but was forced to comply
because i agreed i would blow both tires within the next or two.
He also told me i could bring my truck in as often as i wanted,
which was contrary to what i was told in feb. The six months
was just enough to wear them down to cords. Its almost as
though they had the time frame down just right. I then took my truck to my mechanic and he said they had my alignment,
he called it toed in, to wear the insides out to coincide with
my recommended service visit. I will not use this company
again and may not go back for the balance of my service
contract. I hope this letter will aid folks in being cautious when
dealing with these folks.

RIP-OFF DIAGNOSTIC
I VISITED AN NTB DEALER FOR AN OIL CHANGE AND WATCHED AS THE TECH WENT AROUND THE VEHICLE FOR A DIAGNOSTIC EVALUATION. AFTER FIVE MINUTES HE CAME BACK AND TOLD ME I NEEDED NEW BRAKES ALL AROUND AND IT WOULD COST OVER $300.00.
I TOLD HIM TO CHANGE THE OIL AND I WOULD COME BACK FOR THE BRAKE JOB LATER.
THE NEXT DAY I WENT TO SEARS AND TOLD THEM I NEEDED BRAKES. AFTER 20 MINUTES OR SO THE SEARS MECHANIC ASKED ME WHY I THOUGHT I NEEDED BRAKES. I TOLD HIM SOMEONE HAD CHECKED THEM AND TOLD ME I NEEDED NEW BRAKES. THE SEARS MECHANIC SHOWED ME THE BRAKES AND THAT THEY HAD OVER 60% PAD LEFT AND THAT THEY WERE WEARING EVENLY. HE SAID I DID NOT NEED NEW BRAKES.
I WENT BACK TO NTB AND TALKED TO THE MANAGER WHO IN TURN GOT THE MECHANIC. THE MECHANIC TOLD ME HE HAD CALIBRATED THE BRAKES AND THAT THEY WERE IN NEED OF REPLACEMENT. I TOLD HIM THAT HE COULDN'T HAVE CALIBRATED THE BRAKES SINCE HE NEVER EVEN TOOK THE TIRES OFF. I TOLD THE MANAGER I WOULD NEVER BE BACK.
AFTER E-MAILING NTB AND RECEIVED A CALL BACK FROM THE REGIONAL MANAGER. HE WAS VERY APOLOGETIC AND ASKED ME TO BE PATIENT AND THAT HE WOULD REIMBURSEMENT OBER $70.00 FOR MY SEARS BILL FOR DOING A PROPER BRAKE EVALUATION SINCE I WOULD HAVE NEVER HAD A BRAKE INSPECTION IF NOT FOR NTB'S MECHANIC. HE ALSO PROMISED ME COUPONS FOR FREE OIL CHANGES. I DID GET THE COUPONS BUT NEVER GOT ANY MONEY BACK.
A FEW YEARS PRIOR TO THIS INCIDENT, THE SAME NTB CLAIMED I NEEDED A FRONT-END ALIGNMENT WHICH I HAD CHECKED BY MY CHEVY DEALERSHIP. THEY SAID MY FRONT-END WAS FINE. I ONLY WENT BACK TO NTB BECAUSE I THOUGHT THAT AFTER 2 YEARS THEY HAD STRAIGHTENED THEIR VINELAND STORE OUT. UNFORTUNATELY, I AM BEGINNING TO SEE A PATTERN OF FALSE DIAGNOSTIC WORK AND FRAUDULENT ACTIVITY.
I AM WRITING A LETTER TO THE BBB AND THE NJ STATE ATTORNEY GENERALS OFFICE.

No warranty
Purchased 4 tires, and alignment service for one year, last time car was taken in for alignment check was told all is good, but when taken the car in to see if alignment was proper then why front tires are worn on the outside edges, they said they have no records, then after the contract was provided they claimed the alignment service is now expired, when questioned their previous service, again the claimed no records, we looked for and provided our records then they claimed the alignment may go out at any time by for example hitting a curb, then we questioned quality, and the warranty on the tires when we were told there is nothing they can do other than selling a new set of tires and new alignment contract. tires are worn unevenly, and they will not honor the alignment service purchased for 1 year, nor warranty the tires sold at the same time. I will file a formal complaint with all on line web sites against you for willful, and intentional failure to honor the contract, as well as filing a complaints with Texas Attorney general, and BBB.

Tires and alignment program is a ripoff
We purchased new tires and the 2 year unlimited alignment package at this store last July for my 2003 Mitsubishi Outlander. In September the car seemed to be shaking a bit, so I took it in to have the alignment checked. They supposedly aligned it. In November, while returning home from Thanksgiving dinner at my relatives, we had a blowout. It was caused by being misaligned. The other rear tire was bad as well. We took the car back to NTB Even though we had road hazard and the alignment package they said that neither tire would be covered under the warranty because the misalignment was from hitting potholes. After arguing with the manager, he said he would give us the one tire at a discounted cost, but would still have to charge us for the second one. We weren't happy but it was the holiday weekend so we said ok. He said that since it was late in the day, they wouldn't be able to get to it until the next morning but it would be done by 10 AM. My husband picked me up and we left the car there overnight. The next day we went at 11:00 to pick it up. They said it wasn't ready yet. I started work at noon and it was at least a half hour drive so my husband stayed and I took his car. At 12:45 the manager informed my husband that they got the new tires on but that they couldn't properly align the vehicle because it needed new cambers and that would be around $800. Since the car was still under manufacturer warranty he said he'd get those done at the dealership. The manager said ok. After another half hour the manager came back and informed him that the one rear brake light was out. My husband told him he would change it himself. The manager said that they already have the light apart and it would only be $2 so my husband said "Ok. Replace it." When he went to pay, they charged $2 for the lightbulb but $10 for labor for the lightbulb. My husband argued with the manager but by this time just wanted to get out of the building from being there so long so he paid it. On his way home, he was pulled over for inoperable brake light. He showed the officer the receipt so he left him go. When he got home, he called and the manager apologized and said to bring the vehicle back in and he'd fix it right then. Well NTB is around 20 mins away and after spending 3 hours already there, he didn't want to go back so the manager told him to bring it in the next time he was near there. So the following Monday I went in to get the light replaced. They were out of that lightbulb so I had to wait 1.25 hrs for them to go get one and replace it. In February, we took it to be aligned again. They said everything was good. In May it started shaking, so I took it in and the technician said that they couldn't align it because they don't have the proper tools to align Mitsubishi's. I asked why they could do it before but not now and was told that they probably were only aligning the front. I asked to speak to the manager and the tech said the manager had to leave but would be back the next day. The following day I went in and the manager said the tech was wrong that he could align it, it was just very time consuming and told me he aligned it. Well, it is now July - 1 year from the original purchase and 8 months since the replacement tires and I noticed that the tires are wearing unevenly. So I took it back to NTB and asked to have it realigned. The manager, a new one this time - said the old one was transferred to Beaver, said that they couldn't align it because they do not have the proper tool to align a Mitsubishi. I asked why it was done before and he said it couldn't have. I said that if they don't have the proper tools they shouldn't sell the alignment package and asked for my money back. He was very rude and laughed at me and said that I already had the car aligned and he wasn't giving me anything back. I asked if they don't have the proper tools how the car could be properly aligned and once again he laughed at me and once again stated "You're not getting your money back so you might as well calm down and leave." I left and am now awaiting a response from their main office.
