Poor Quality, High Price, Poor Customer Service
I spent over $24, 000 for a custom six zone NuVo sound system for my home which was built new in 2006. The authorized NuVo dealer who installed the system was from Panama City Beach Florida and it was they who recommended and specked the NuVo system for the house. They installed the NuVo Concerto system with tuner, amp and preamp along with a plasma TV monitor, DVD player and CD changer. Our problems with the NuVo components started almost immediately as the first one then both displays went out on the tuner. So there was no way to see what station XM, AM or FM was tuned to. Then the tuner quit altogether. This is where it gets interesting. I called the installer and he comes to my house not once but three separate times trying to get replacement tuners from NuVo to work. And each time he billed me almost $100 an hour. When here, not only could he not get any of the replacement tuners to work but he spent the entire time on my phone talking to NuVo tech trying to program them to no avail. Finally, a fourth tuner is sent this time programmed at NuVo headquarters in KY and it works. The original installer then has the audacity to charge me almost $1800 for the repairs which I refused to pay at first. This after all was for him driving back and forth (and hour each way) and talking on my phone to NuVo tech. Finally we reach a half price settlement just to be done with the mess. Then, less than six months later, the NuVo preamp blows. Totally gone. And with it go three zones. Called the installer. NuVo did repair it. Cost me $250. Then the installer tried to charge me almost $1000 to install it plus trouble shoot the original problem. Sent a letter to NuVo asking for reimbursement and heard nothing. Finally called a VP of Operations and he promised over the phone to "make me whole". Weeks went by. Heard nothing. Called the VP of Sales for the Southeast and explained my situation and asked him to call me back. No call. Then wrote the President of the company a detailed letter outlining what happened and my grievances and attached a copy of all repair bills. Heard nothing. I will never, ever install NuVo again. Not only are their products grossly overpriced but they break often, have almost no warranty, and the installer the company set up in our area charged me a fortune to doing next to nothing. Never again NuVo.
