Website
I understand that the Railroad has a difficult time providing service in poor weather conditions. However, when I woke up this morning I checked the LIRR website and it said that the 6:13 and the 6:47 train were running out of Kings Park to Jamaica. I decided to take the 6:47 train but it never came. I went home to check the website again and it said there was and 8:09 train I could take. After waiting for that train I learned through the news that the Port Jefferson line was suspended. My fiance had to drive me to the Hicksville train station (in doing so we got in an accident). When I finally got to work I checked the LIRR website again and it said that all my trains home were running on schedule. I checked at 2:30 to make sure that the 3:13 train out of Jamaica to Kings Park was running. It said it was. When I got the station, the train was not on the service board. When I spoke to the man in the information booth on track 8 he told me there were not trains running east of Hicksville. He said he didn't know when the next train was going to Huntington/Port Jefferson. I got very upset thinking I was going to have to spend the night in Jamaica-and 30 seconds later he said, "Oh, there's a train to Huntington." How could he not know that there was a train going to Huntington one minute and then it just 'shows up'? There is a great failure of communication between employees in the LIRR and their customers. Everyone says, "That's not my job, I'm just the conductor, or I'm just the guy in the information booth." Who is running this railroad? Why is there no communication? Update the website!!
