unwanted text
Seems anyone can go to this "website" and input YOUR number for spam crap!! I started recieving spam texts from oboonews.com in Mid August 2010; not that they admit their name in the texts, I had to call my cell company to find this out. I always replied 'STOP'. January, 2011 comes and I am still getting spam texts. Well, all I can think of is that I did not reply to a text & my February bill had a charge of $9.99 for "data usage" but showed no amount of data used. I promptly called Verizon and told them I did not agree to this, if I did, I would own up to it and pay this amount. The lady was very kind but I could tell she must have been getting may calls like mine. I asked her for a credit and to remove the CRAP from my number; to which she promptly did. THANK YOU VERIZON!

SCAM, RIPOFF, THEY START CHARGING YOU WITHOUT TELLING YOU THAT YOU'VE EVEN SIGNED UP!
I was surfing, looking for news about an election in my town and saw this website listed. When I clicked on it, the screen went dark, and a small (1" x1") lighted square appeard saying to "Enter your mobile phone number." The implication is that when you do, you'll be able to read the news on the screen.
A half hour later, my phone was buzzing every 3 minutes. The first message was from Oboo News saying that they were charging my phone $9.99. The rest of them were texts (.30 was taken off my trac phone for every one of them) about national news. When I tried to get to them on the e-mail address provided for Oboo News cancellations on my computer, I got several error messages. Finally I texted them from my phone and it gave me a phone #. When I called that number, and told the woman that I had not signed up for news text messages, she said that I had because "anyone should know that if they ask you for your phone #, you are signing up for text messages for which you'll be billed." When I said that it said that NOWHERE on the screen, she said I would have had to scroll down to the end of the page -- who would think to do that? Anyway, now she says she has cancelled the service, but that if it doesn't go through, I'll start getting bills from AT&T! WHAT A RIPOFF.
