A wireless computer mouse was purchased as a gift for me. The person intended to select the rechargeable model MX Revolution by Logitech but instead mistakenly selected the MX 620 ($64.19) which requires replicable batteries. The store does not carry the MX Revolution and it is no longer listed on the Office Depot website. I asked the store manager for a refund since I had not opened the package and had the receipt paid for by check. It was purchased 6 days ago.
The store manager refused to refund cash since it was a “technology item” and forced me to take a gift card for store merchandise instead. While searching their website for the address of the Office Depot corporate CEO (Steve Odland), I decided to give the customer service number a try since the on-line return policy seems to differ from the store policy. Customer service bridged the assistant manager on the line and it turns out that they will refund after 10 days for the check to clear. So I have been promised a refund after 10 days; they should give me cash for my gift card, I hope.
My family and I refuse to shop at Office Depot because of this and I will steer all employer business to other suppliers where possible. It’s not worth the hassle of dealing with these folks.
